Marketing, now, is not merely about only the market. The focal point is getting wider day by day. The companies are devising different schemes to contribute to societal development activities along with their attainment of corporate goals and objectives. Cause related marketing is one of those tactics that enables the marketers to involve the customers directly into the process. This study tries to portray whether the customers purchasing behavior or brand preference are influence by such marketing program. The demographic variables have great influence on the purchasing decision making process of customer. Whether that is also being influenced by companies cause related marketing program is also explored here. The findings have showed that a customer is influenced by the companies’ cause related marketing programs while adopting a new brand or executing its purchase intension and the customers prefer to support generally health and life saving issues.

An Empirical Study of the Relationship between Macroeconomic Variables and Stock Price: A Study on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE)

    Get PDF
Literature strongly supports vibration of the stock price as a consequence of various macroeconomic factors (Darrat, 1990; Fama & Schwert, 1977; Jaffe & Mandelker, 1976; Nelson, 1976; Pearce & Roley, 1985; Ripley, 1973). This study has investigated the explanatory power of various macro-factors such as inflation rate, exchange rate, interest rate, money supply and production index on the variability of the stock price in Bangladesh. Multiple regression analysis has been conducted to asses the relationship between the stated macro economic factors with stock price. All share price index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange has been used as a proxy for stock price, the dependent variable of the study. No significant relationship has been found between the stock price and any of the macroeconomic factors. The study bodes well for advanced empirical models with additional macroeconomic variables.

Storm Intensity and Forward Speed Controls on Back-barrier and Shoreface Sediment Dynamics along the Louisiana Coast

    Get PDF
High energetic storms import sediment to back-barrier bays and marshes and produce a perennial footprint that contributes to the long-term evolution of the inner shelf, bays, and marsh platform. The magnitude of sedimentation in back-barrier bays and marshes varies with storm characteristics (e.g., storm intensity, forward speed, size, and track). However, quantifying the impacts of storm characteristics on the sediment exchange between the inner shelf, bays, and marshes and documenting the resulting net sediment import and export patterns across these interfaces remains largely unexplored. Here we applied a calibrated Delft3D hydrodynamics and sediment transport model to a microtidal bay-marsh complex in the central coast of Louisiana. The study quantifies the contributions of a suite of storms with varying storm characteristics to evaluate resulting sediment exchange volumes and assess bay/marsh sediment deposition. Model results show that storm forward speed and intensity are the chief and dominant storm characteristics that control sediment exchange between the inner shelf – bay – marsh environments, while other storm characteristics like storm size and track play a secondary role. Finally, shelf – bay – marsh sediment exchange volumes correlate non-linearly with storm intensity and forward speed

Enumeration, Isolation and Identification of Nitrogen-Fixing Bacterial Strains at Seedling Stage in Rhizosphere of Rice Grown in Non-Calcareous Grey Flood Plain Soil of Bangladesh

    Get PDF
Non-symbiotic diazotrophic systems for biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) in agriculture are most promising but the possibility for the extension of nitrogen fixation by rice is still speculative. Accordingly, the present study was conducted for the Enumeration, isolation and identification of nitrogen fixing bacterial strains at seedling stage (30 days after seed sowing) in rhizosphere of rice (BR 10, Oryza sativa L.) grown in Non-Calcareous Grey Flood Plain soil of Bangladesh. The soil is classified as ‘Inceptisol’ order and ‘Aquept’ suborder. It was identified as ‘Dhamrai series’, had ‘silt’ texture, pH 7.1 and 5.5 C/N ratio. The present results of the microbial tests on the rice rhizosphere soil evinced that out of 263 isolates, only 91 were branded as nitrogen fixing organisms per gram of soil, which was about 34.6 % of the total isolates. As per selection criteria, four individual strains were considered for identification. Biochemical tests were conducted for proper identification and the selected strains were identified as Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Bacillus spp. and Azospirllum spp

Management practices of the organization and its performance mainly based on but the different styles exist in different culture, may be they are effective now but may not be in the future, because the practices are not unique or not universal or not without any critics .We have witnessed in the recent past the introduction of various management theories, techniques, approaches and management styles. The managerial tools with their roots in the culture of contemporary Islamic societies have been included emphasizing their importance and priority for our systems.  Muslims are trying to make some differences in the conventional management approach in light of Islamic values. Islami Banks and other institutes are the burning example on the same. Most of the issues, like principles, functions and approaches are similar to the Islamic approach and in few cases there are some divergences between these two approaches to management. Banking sector is the life blood of the economy. Today most banks conventional or Islamic  face many types of risks.  One of the risks is Liquidity risk. One of the prime functions of the bank is to collect short term deposit from depositors in order to finance long term loans and advances. Falling to fulfilling the condition creates a situation for banks where the banks face liquidity risk. Liquidity risk as the risk where an organization is unable to meet their obligations to depositors. The liquidity risk arises from management weakness of proper forecasting of needs of funds in future. As Islamic banking is gaining popularity day by day Islamic banks are also facing liquidity risk. The study is done to see the relationship between Size of the bank, Nonperforming loan, Return on asset, Return on equity, Capital adequacy ratio, Investment to deposit ratio with liquidity risk of 6 Islamic Banks from 2012 to 2016. Secondary data is used to do the study. The study found a relationship between Size of the bank, Non- performing loan, Return on asset, Return on equity, Capital adequacy ratio, Investment to deposit ratio with liquidity risk by rejecting null hypothesis .The study also found that Size and NPL have negative relation with liquidity risk and ROA, ROE, CAR and Investment to deposit ratio have a positive relationship with liquidity risk.
