    Get PDF
Recombinant DNA technology, joining two DNA molecules together to produce new genetic combinations is of value to medicine, agriculture and science industry. This new invention of software programming has been developed using Visual Basic in order to predict the number pattern of resulted molecules after the cut and paste phenomenon of two double-stranded DNA, based on the theorems that have been formulated by using Y-G splicing system. In addtion, the characteristics of restriction enzymes in terms of palindromic and inverse complement properties are also determined. Also, the software programming can be utilized for scientists to determine the behaviour of resulted molecules such as whether a molecule can participate in further splicing or disappeared after the experiment has run through completio

Development Of A Portable Ablution System For Muslims From Ergonomics Approach

    Get PDF
Ablution is Muslim’s act of washing oneself before performing prayers. This ritual only involves several parts of the body. However, during this process, water was wasted too much which interchanging between body parts even though Islam urges Muslim to reduce water usage during ablution. Other than that, the newly developed design will check for its ergonomic since comfortability and safety are essential for establishing a product. Hence so, this research is proposing a new design of an ablution system. This ablution system designed as a portable and user-friendly system for all ages to be used. The design for this ablution system does consider the ergonomics of human position. It also proposes a way to conserve the wasted water from ablution process. Design is made from the suggestions from RULA analysis by CATIA V5. This analysis proposed a better angle for better measurement of the proposed design. Finally, the study concluded with limitations and future research directions

Response surface methodology (RSM) on the hybrid nanofluid flow subject to a vertical and permeable wedge

    Get PDF
The mixed convection flow with thermal characteristics of a water-based Cu-Al2O3 hybrid nanofluid towards a vertical and permeable wedge was numerically and statistically analyzed in this study. The governing model was constructed using physical and theoretical assumptions, which were then reduced to a set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) using similarity transformation. The steady flow solutions were computed using the Matlab software bvp4c. All possible solutions were presented in the graphs of skin friction coefficient and thermal rate. The numerical results show that the flow and thermal progresses are developed by enhancing the controlling parameters (wedge parameter, volumetric concentration of nanoparticles, and suction parameter). Moreover, the response surface methodology (RSM) with analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed for the statistical evaluation and conducted using the fit general linear model in the Minitab software. From the standpoint of statistical analysis, the wedge parameter and volumetric nanoparticle concentration have a considerable impact on all responses; however, the suction parameter effect is only substantial for a single response

Identifying influential nodes with centrality indices combinations using symbolic regressions

    Get PDF
Numerous strategies for determining the most influential nodes in a connected network have been developed. The use of centrality indices in a network allows the identification of the most important nodes in the network. Specific indices, on the other hand, cannot search for a network's entire meaning because they are only interested in a single attribute. Researchers frequently overlook an index's characteristics in favour of focusing on its application. The purpose of this research is to integrate selected centrality indices classified by their various properties. A symbolic regression approach was used to find meaningful mathematical expressions for this combination of indices. When the efficacy of the combined indices is compared to other methods, the combined indices react similarly and outperform the previous method. Using this adaptive technique, network researchers can now identify the most influential network nodes

Calculators are one of the important technology used to solve mathematical computations. It also can be the tool for learning mathematics if it is used appropriately. However, too much depends on calculator can be harmful to students ability to solve simple mathematical problem. The purpose of this study is to examine the dependency of students in Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, on the usage of calculator to solve the mathematical problems. A sample of 383 first year Engineering Technology (ET) students’ taking mathematics subject are selected from five different course. Students were examined based on the results of Mathematic Competency Test and the survey from a questionnaire that covers questions regarding the students’ enjoyment on the usage of calculator and the usefulness of calculator in mathematic activities. The investigation yield a result showing that the students has a high dependency on using calculator to solve mathematical problem

The aims of this study were to understand and examine the Engineering Technology (ET) students’ attitudes towards their motivation while learning mathematics during their studies at the Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). In this study, a set of questionnaire from a previous study by Galbraith and Haines (1998) was utilized, which included questions on the students’ attitudes towards their motivation while learning mathematics. A total of 332 second year ET students at FTK, UTeM were requested to complete the questionnaire during the final week of semester two of the 2013/2014 session. From the findings, a conclusion was drawn regarding the ET students’ attitudes towards motivation while learning mathematics. The result showed that most ET students had positive attitudes towards their motivation while learning mathematics during their studies at FTK, UTeM
