Sweet Solution Analgesia
Mammals’ first tasting experience is usually sweet solution. Whether it is milk (breast or formula), sugar water as in some cultures or even dates as advocated by Prophet Mohammed to his followers. Thus, it is no wonder the soothing, calming and even pain relieving effects of oral sweet solutions. Nevertheless, using sweet solution purposely for its pain-relieving effects for infants in the clinical setting is relatively recent; however, the discussion concerning sweet solution effectiveness, mechanism of actions and adverse long-term effects are still ongoing. In this chapter, we present an account of studies on both humans and animals that explored and examined the use of several sweet solutions for analgesia
Computed tomography scans image processing for nasal symptoms severity prediction
This paper aims to use a new technique of computed tomography (CT) scan image processing to correlate the image analysis with sinonasal symptoms. A retrospective cross-sectional study is conducted by analyzing the digital records of 50 patients who attended the ear, nose and throat (ENT) clinics at King Abdullah University Hospital, Jordan. The coronal plane CT scans are analyzed using our developed software. The purposes of this software are to calculate the surface area of the nasal passage at three different levels visible on coronal plane CT scans: i) the head of the inferior turbinate, ii) the head of the middle turbinate, and iii) the tail of the inferior turbinate. We employ image processing techniques to correlate the narrowing of nasal surface area with sinonasal symptoms. As a consequence, obstruction in the first level is correlated significantly with the symptoms of nasal obstruction while the narrowing in the second level is related to frontal headache. No other significant correlations are found with nasal symptoms at the third level. In our study, we find that image processing techniques can be very useful to predict the severity of common nasal symptoms and they can be used to suggest treatment and to follow up on the case progression

The Role of Social Media Usage, E-WOM, and Perceived Enjoyment in Shaping Customer Attitudes and Blockchain Adoption Loyalty in UAE Banking: A Quantitative Investigation
Technology is shaping the banking sector around the globe. Therefore, the prime objective of this research was to examine the relationship among social media use, e-WoM, perceived enjoyment and customer\u27s attitude towards loyalty to the use of Blockchain technology in the context of U.A.E. banks. This study used a cross-sectional research design and quantitative methods for data collection. Five-point Likert scale was used to develop the well-designed questionnaire for data collection. A simple random sampling technique was adopted to distribute the questionnaire among respondents. A sample of one hundred seventy-four observations was analyzed using Smart PLS 3.3.9. The findings confirmed the significant and direct effect of social media use, e-WoM, and perceived enjoyment on customers\u27 attitudes. The direct effect of customer attitude on Blockchain adoption was also supported. The findings also revealed the important mediating role of customer attitude as well. The findings are helpful for policymakers and academicians
