    Effective communication is very important in life especially in the field of learning. In general, this study was conducted to identify the interpersonal communication skills in lifelong learning, among lecturers of Ledang Community College, Johor. In particular, this study looks at three main aspects of communication namely interpersonal skills, verbal communication and non verbal communication. A total of 36 respondents were selected to answer the questionnaire distributed. They comprise the lecturer of Ledang Community College, Johor. The data were analyzed using mean and average score. The findings show that lecturers of Ledang Community College master the communication skills at a moderate level. The findings also show that there is no significant difference in the mastery of communication among lecturers of Ledang Community College based on their academic qualifications. Some suggestions have also been proposed to enhance interpersonal communication skills among Ledang Community College lecturers who can be implemented for future studies

    Development of basic quantity surveying learning module through 21st century learning activity

    Technical and Vocational Education in Malaysia (TVET) is one of the most important branches of education to produce a balanced human capital. Not only the skills in the field need to be emphasized, but the skills also need to be enhanced under the 'Eleventh Malaysia Plan ' (RMK-11). 21st century learning is a student centered learning process based on 4C’s elements which are communication, collaborative, critical thinking and creativity. The importance of producing 21st century learning based modules is essential to ensure that TVET students, especially at the Vocational College, are exposed to 21st century learning activities and can apply the 4C’s element. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop Basic Quantity Surveying Learning Module Through The 21st Century Learning Activity that tested its validity and credibility as reference material or teaching aids to assist teachers and students taking this course. This module design has two stages beginning with goal building and ending with a complete module that is ready to use. The module validation process involves using the instrument and involving three experts for verification. The evaluation of the module validation consists of a questionnaire consisting of 28 items based on the format and content of the module. The findings show that Basic Quantity Surveying Learning Module Through The 21st Century Learning Activity is highly validated. Analyst views are presented as a percentage. Based on the result, 96% agree on the design of the module while 98.46%. agree on the content of the module developed. Through the analysis of the findings, the Basic Quantity Surveying Module Through The 21st Century Learning Activities has high content validity

    Demand for graduates of Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) is increasing from time to time. The Tenth Malaysia Plan (RMK 10) for the period 2011 to 2015 show a significant change in the system of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TEVT) in Malaysia. Ideas and strategies based on achievement and increasing the foreign countries likes Korea and Germany became a high-income country a model for Malaysia to continue progressing steps to compete and be in the world. A more holistic approach taken in the first class human capital formation and the priority to Malaysia as a high income country and respected. To achieve this mission the main thing that's needs to be done is to increase at the level of TVET Institutions in Malaysia. To ensure the successful missions, effective leaders needed in TVET Institutions. Based on the study, various leadership tactics likes effective communication, appreciate the ability of the members, tactical decision making, control a pressure tactic, rational persuasion tactics, tactics negotiation, motivation and responsibility can be implemented to ensure Malaysia will raise the TVET Institution level.     TVET teaching implementation: competency, challenges and motivation

    The purpose of this research is to determine the competencies, obstacles, and motivations associated with the implementation of TVET instructions at Vocational Colleges. The competency aspects analyzed are the knowledge and skills. The problems that educators have in implementing TVET teaching, as well as the motivation of educators in implementing TVET teaching, are also examined. This study involved 76 TVET educators from selected Vocational Colleges. The data was collected using a survey form and analyzed using a descriptive method to get the mean score and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that the level of knowledge, skills, and motivation of the educators is high while the challenges assessed got a moderate level of score. In summary, the implementation of teaching among TVET teachers has an element of high teaching competence but in facing the challenges while implementing teaching has a variety of responses. Apart from knowledge, skills, motivation, and challenges, strengthening from the aspect of teaching delivery is a necessity towards the consolidation of quality teaching in TVET

    Pembinaan perisian multimedia untuk tujuan pengajaran dan pembelajaran amat digalakkan oleh Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia dan pihak sekolah. Hal ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualiti pendidikan menjelang abad ke-21. Sehubungan dengan itu, kajian yang dijalankan ini bertujuan untuk membangunkan, menguji dan menilai satu perisian multimedia interaktif dalam mata pelajaran Kemahiran Hidup Bersepadu Pilihan Ekonomi Rumah Tangga Tingkatan 2 bertajuk Jahitan. Proses pembangunan perisian multimedia ini adalah berlandaskan Model ADDIE sebagai panduan. Teori Pembelajaran Konstruktivisme turut diaplikasikan dalam reka bentuk pembangunan perisian multimedia ini. Abobe Flash CS6 Professional merupakan perisian pengarangan utama yang digunakan. Sementara, Adobe Photoshop CS4 dan Windows Movie Maker Live digunakan untuk tujuan penyuntingan grafik dan video. Seramai 2 orang pakar bidang dan 3 orang pakar media telah terlibat dalam menilai kesesuaian perisian multimedia dari aspek reka bentuk isi kandungan, interaksi dan persembahan untuk tujuan pembelajaran pelajar. Kajian ini turut melibatkan seramai 70 orang pelajar Tingkatan 2 yang mengambil mata pelajaran KHB Pilihan (ERT) di Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Gading, Batu Pahat, Johor sebagai responden bagi mengenal pasti tahap penerimaan mereka terhadap perisian tersebut dari aspek yang sama. Analisis deskriptif dalam bentuk frekuensi, peratus, min dan sisihan piawai digunakan dalam tatacara penganalisaan data. Hasil dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa penilaian pakar dan penerimaan pelajar terhadap perisian multimedia yang dibangunkan dari aspek reka bentuk isi kandungan, interaksi dan persembahan berada pada tahap yang tinggi. Secara keseluruhannya, dapatan ini menunjukkan penerimaan yang positif daripada pakar dan pelajar terhadap pembelajaran menerusi Perisian Multimedia Interaktif KHB Pilihan (ERT) Bertajuk Jahitan ini. Pengintegrasian elemen multimedia sebagai sokongan penyampaian dan pengaplikasian teori konstruktivisme dalam reka bentuk perisian multimedia interaktif ini terbukti dapat meningkatkan kefahaman dan menarik minat pelajar dalam pembelajaran tajuk Jahitan ini dan seterusnya hendaklah dilanjutkan kepada tajuk atau mata pelajaran yang lain. Hal ini demikian kerana keupayaannya yang berpotensi meningkatkan pengalaman pembelajaran individu terutamanya pada era teknologi maklumat yang semakin pesat melenia ini

    Industrial training: challenges among students in construction industry

    Industrial training is structured learning off -campus and gives students the opportunity to gain experience in a professional field before they step into the real world of work. This study was conducted to find out the extent of the challenges faced by students during industrial training in terms of knowledge, skills, and work ethic. This study was conducted in a survey using a quantitative approach. Research applied the survey research design based using quantitative approach. A set of instruments developed based on literature analysis. The variables investigate are knowledge and skills in terms of challenges among student during industrial training period. The respondents from students in program related with Civil Engineering and Building Construction are involved to response the survey. There are 208 students from three faculties involved in this research. The findings of the study show that the challenges of students in terms of knowledge, skills and work ethic are at a high level, and there are differences between the three faculties in terms of knowledge, skills, and work ethics. As conclusion, students undergoing industrial training in Construction Industry are capable to apply knowledge and skills within the training period

    Program Rekaan Fesyen Pakaian adalah salah satu program teknikal dan vokasional yang masih dikuasai pelatih wanita di institut latihan. Kajian ini adalah bertujuan bagi mengenalpasti ciri–ciri keusahawanan dan kemahiran keusahawanan dalam kalangan 130 orang pelatih wanita Program Rekaan Fesyen Pakaian Institut Latihan Kemahiran. Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk tinjauan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif bagi mengkaji penerapan elemen ciri-ciri usahawan dan kemahiran keusahawanan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa min keseluruhan bagi setiap ciri-ciri usahawanan seperti kreatif dan inovasi, berani mengambil risiko, keyakinan diri, dan motivasi mendapat aras persetujuan yang tinggi. Selain itu, kemahiran komunikasi dan kemahiran teknologi maklumat berada pada aras persetujuan sederhana tinggi manakala kemahiran menyelesaikan masalah, kemahiran mengurus perniagaan, dan kemahiran kepimpinan berada aras persetujuan yang tinggi. Malahan, terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan dalam ciri-ciri usahawan antara dua institut latihan yang dikaji dalam aspek berani mengambil risiko dan keyakinan diri. Terdapat perbezaan dalam kemahiran keusahawanan antara dua institut latihan dalam aspek kemahiran teknologi maklumat. Justeru, ciri-ciri dan elemen kemahiran keusahawanan sangat perlu diserapkan di institut latihan kemahiran yang dikaji bagi melahirkan gologan usahawan yang berdaya saing dalam bidang rekaan fesyen khususnya untuk golongan belia wanita

    Construction waste management practices in the construction site: virtual source analysis

    The significant growth in the construction industry has been a bit of a serious issue for most developing countries like Malaysia. Along with construction’s growth, the increase of building materials used also adds waste to the construction site. Thus, the practices of construction waste management must be done by the organization, especially for the construction sectors. This research was a study about the construction waste management practices in the construction site. This research aims to study the types of construction waste in the construction site, the construction waste management practice in the construction site, and the differences between construction waste management in the construction site. Furthermore, this research was focusing on the analysis of the video, especially on construction waste management practices in the construction site. Moreover, the five of the video analysis was picked through the open source internet which showed the construction waste management in the construction site. The research design for this research was technical research which analyzed video as a material in data collection using the checklist form to help the researcher to obtain the data. The result for this study shows that the types of construction wastes were made from woods, metals, concrete, and other wastes (drywall, plastics, cardboard, papers, glasses, the product can, etc) and bricks, the practices of construction management in construction site were shown the high levels in practicing the construction waste management practices in the construction site was prevention and reduction, reuse, recycle and disposal, the differences between the construction management was the storage of building materials, construction waste segregation, scheduled construction waste collection, and the construction waste disposal. In conclusion, the study of the construction waste management practices by using video could be a guideline as to the effectiveness of the construction waste management practices in the construction site

    Pendekatan Konseptual Heutagogi Dalam Pembelajaran Vokasional: Heutagogy Conceptual Approach In Vocational Learning

    Pendekatan heutagogi merupakan pendekatan pembelajaran yang berkonsepkan self-determined learning yang berorientasikan pembelajaran berpusatkan pelajar. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenalpasti pendekatan konseptual heutagogi dalam pembelajaran vokasional. Dalam pembelajaran vokasional, pendekatan heutagogi penting dalam kebolehpasarankerja graduan daripada kolej vokasional. Pendekatan heutagogi mempunyai enam elemen iaitu meneroka, kolaborasi, mencipta, hubungan, kongsi dan refleksi. Objektif bagi kajian ini adalah mengenal pasti elemen heutagogi dalam pembelajaran vokasional yang berorientasikan pekerjaan dan mengenalpasti perbezaan elemen heutagogi dengan bidang pengajian. Reka bentuk kajian secara tinjauan dan pendekatan kuantitatif berserta soal selidik sebagai intrumen kajian. Kaedah persampelan rawak berstrata digunakan dan seramai 281 orang responden terlibat dalam kajian ini iaitu pelajar Diploma Vokasional Malaysia tahun 2 semester 2 kolej vokasional di Sarawak. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah min, sisihan piawai dan MANOVA. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan elemen heutagogi menujukkan nilai skor min yang tinggi. Kajian mendapati tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan antara elemen heutagogi dan bidang pengajian. Oleh itu, kajian ini merumuskan bahawa elemen heutagogi sangat penting dalam semua jenis kemahiran vokasional agar dapat meningkatkan kebolehpasaran pelajar vokasional di industri.   The heutagogy approach is a learning approach with the concept of self-determined learning that is oriented towards student-centered learning. This study aims to identify the conceptual approach of heutagogy in vocational learning. In vocational learning, the heutagogic approach is important in the employability of graduates from vocational colleges. The heutagogic approach has six elements which is explore, collaborate, create, connect, share and reflect. The objective of this study is to identify the elements of heutagogy in vocational learning that is job-oriented and to identify the differences between the elements of heutagogy and the field of study. The research design is a survey and quantitative approach with questionnaires as research instruments. A stratified random sampling method was used and a total of 281 respondents were involved in this study who were Malaysian Vocational Diploma year 2 semester 2 vocational college students in Sarawak. Data analysis used is mean, standard deviation and MANOVA. The findings of the study show that elements of heutagogy show high mean score values. The study found that there was no significant difference between the elements of heutagogy and the field of study. Therefore, this study concludes that the element of heutagogy is very important in all types of vocational skills in order to increase the marketability of vocational students in the industry

    TRIZ: an alternate way to solve problem for student

    Inventive problem solving is an alternative way of solving problem for student. 60 years ago, in 1956, Altshuller published a new, constructive and methodical approach ideas on problem solving to offer to the world. Even though TRIZ originally meant for fields of industry domains, it has solved problems in other field using some common principles. Thus, this methodology has spread to over 35 countries across the world. It is now being taught in several universities and it has been applied by a number of global organizations who have found it particularly useful to solve their problem. In 2017, KSSM curriculum has been revised to cope up this 21st century demand. This paper is a potentially useful for TRIZ beginner, as an alternative to solve problem comparable to common problem solving method. This paper also discussed the limitation of other common problem method which leads the advantages of using TRIZ
