Early Onset of Daunomycin Cardiotoxicity in a Case of Acute Myelogeneous Leukemia Associated with Sweet's Syndrome

    Get PDF
A patient of acute leukemia with Sweet's syndrome who developed heart failure after receiving 107 mg/㎡ daunorubicin was reported. There seemed to be genetic factors of individuals in inducing anthracycline cardiotoxicity. Further study on genetic analysis of such a disease will be necessary for clarification of the genetic factors susceptible to anthracyclines. This work was supported in part by a Grant-in-Aid for Cancer Research from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture

Synthesis of DPPP- And DPPPEN-Type Bidentate Ligands by Ring-Opening Diphosphination of Methylene- And Vinylcyclopropanes under Visible-Light-Promoted Photoredox Catalysis

A ring-opening diphosphination of methylene- and vinylcyclopropanes with tetraaryldiphosphines (Ar2P-PAr2) has been developed to afford the corresponding 1,3-diphenylphosphinopropane- and 1,3-diphenylphosphinopentane-type bidentate ligands, respectively. The reaction proceeds under bromine cation-initiated, visible-light-promoted photoredox catalysis at ambient temperature. Owing to the ready availability of functionalized diphosphines, the electronically diverse MeO- and CF3-substituted bidentate ligands are also easily prepared.Kato Y., Otomura N., Hirano K., et al. Diphosphination of ortho-quinone methide precursors with diphosphines

    Get PDF
A fluorine anion-mediated diphosphination of ortho-quinone methide precursors (2-(chloromethyl)silyloxybenzenes) with diphosphines has been developed. The reaction proceeds smoothly under mild conditions (CH2Cl2 solvent, 0 °C) to form the corresponding 2-(phosphinomethyl)oxyphosphinobenzenes, which are potential bidentate ligands in metal catalysis. Additionally, some mechanistic investigations are also performed.Kato Y., Otomura N., Hirano K., et al. Diphosphination of ortho-quinone methide precursors with diphosphines. Expression of c-myc, c-fos and CA19-9 in Human Non-Malignant and Malignant Gallbladder Tissues

Immunohistochemical study was performed on expressions of c-myc, c-fos and CA19-9 in gallbladder tissue with or without malignant lesions. A total of 81 tissues were divided into four groups including 47 carcinomas, 3 dysplasias, 17 metaplasias and 14 normal lesions. After these tissues were routinely fixed in 10% formalin solution and embedded in paraffin, 4 micrometer-thick sections were made and stained with hematoxylin-eosin to classify the type of lesions. Immunohistochemical stains were carried out for c-myc and c-fos oncoproteins, and CA19-9. The percentages of positive reaction for c-myc oncoprotein were 77%, 67%, 88% and 36%, those for c-fos oncoprotein were 83%, 66%, 35% and 7%, and those for CA19-9 were 85%, 100%, 88% and 71% in carcinoma, dysplasia, metaplasia and normal tissues, respectively. These results suggest that c-myc and c-fos oncogenes play some kind of roles in malignant transformation of the gallbladder tissues and that abnormal expression of CA19-9 is the sign of antigen reversion of carcinoma cells toward embryonic cells of the gallbladder tissue

DNA Display Selection of Peptide Ligands for a Full-Length Human G Protein-Coupled Receptor on CHO-K1 Cells

The G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which form the largest group of transmembrane proteins involved in signal transduction, are major targets of currently available drugs. Thus, the search for cognate and surrogate peptide ligands for GPCRs is of both basic and therapeutic interest. Here we describe the application of an in vitro DNA display technology to screening libraries of peptide ligands for full-length GPCRs expressed on whole cells. We used human angiotensin II (Ang II) type-1 receptor (hAT1R) as a model GPCR. Under improved selection conditions using hAT1R-expressing Chinese hamster ovary (CHO)-K1 cells as bait, we confirmed that Ang II gene could be enriched more than 10,000-fold after four rounds of selection. Further, we successfully selected diverse Ang II-like peptides from randomized peptide libraries. The results provide more precise information on the sequence-function relationships of hAT1R ligands than can be obtained by conventional alanine-scanning mutagenesis. Completely in vitro DNA display can overcome the limitations of current display technologies and is expected to prove widely useful for screening diverse libraries of mutant peptide and protein ligands for receptors that can be expressed functionally on the surface of CHO-K1 cells

Three political models of integration within the francophone space

    No full text
Three models of political integration are compared in the francophone space. The French Republican model is compared with the North America’s multicultural model and with the Creole model born in the Caribbean. Whereas the second model seems to take into account ethnicity differentiation, it doe not propose, like the first one, any values to develop cultural diversity and solidarity. The Creole model is said to be very useful theoretically but does not offer a political alternative.
