2Nd-Harmonic Generation By Counter Propagating Beams In 4-Dimethylamino-4\u27-Nitrostilbene Side-Chain Polymer Channel Wave-Guides
We demonstrate surface emitted second harmonic generation due to mixing of counter propagating waves in in-plane poled, low loss, channel waveguides of 4-dimethylamino-4\u27-nitrostilbene (DANS) side-chain polymers. Single film DANS side-chain polymer waveguides yield high conversion efficiency devices
Wave-Guiding In Substrate Supported And Freestanding Films Of Insoluble Conjugated Polymers
We demonstrate that waveguiding is possible in substrate supported and freestanding films of insoluble conjugated polymers. Photoresist gratings were used to couple 1.06-1.53 mum radiation into the waveguides allowing the refractive indices, the birefringence, and the linear losses to be measured
Surface Emitting Shg Light By Counter Propagation Of Guided Waves In A Plane Parallel Poled Dans Side Chain Polymer
Large nonlinear optical coefficients and easy processing and fabrication techniques make organic materials, especially polymers, very attractive condidates for counter propagating mixing applications. Here a spincoated waveguide based on a 4‐dimethylamino‐4\u27‐nitrostilbene side chain polymer is shown to generate surface emitted second harmonic light. The preparation of the waveguide, its experimental operation, and the theoretical background are discussed. Copyright © 1995 Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinhei
