この論文は国立情報学研究所の学術雑誌公開支援事業により電子化されました。Immunohistochemical distribution of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) subunits in human lung cancer cells were studied using fluorescent antibody technique. Both in cytological and histological specimen, specific fluorescence of LDH-H and LDH-M were seen in the cytoplasm of cancer cells, and in most cases no remarkable difference could be demonstrated between the distribution of H and M subunit. But in some cases specific fluorescence of M-subunit was stronger than that of H-subunit. The fluorescence of M-subunit was demonstrated as fine granules diffusely in the cytoplasm. On the other hand the fluorescence of H-subunit was rather localized and demonstrated as rather coarse granules. And this observation was discussed

Sleep-wake habits in middle and late adolescence and the criteria for the choice of subjects on sleep research

Sleep-wake habits in middle and late adolescence were surveyed for college of technology (n=799), college of nursing (n=460) and university (n=1062) students. Daytime sleepiness and nodding off were often occurred. They made up for shortened sleep time at holiday. One third of them took replacement naps. Some of them had the irregular life habits, such as delayed bed-time, shortened sleep time, irregular meal time and engaging in night work, suggesting that these habits might alter the phase of circadian activity cycle. Finally, the criteria for the choice of subjects on sleep research were discussed

A Case of Pulmonary Sarcoma with Significant Extension into the Right Lung

A female patient in her 30s was referred to us with a mass approximately 8 centimeters in diameter in right lung segment 6. Bronchoscopy was done, and a tumorous lesion obstructing right B6 was found. Biopsy of this lesion supported suspicions of sarcoma or spindle cell carcinoma. Contrast-enhanced CT showed that the mass extended to and obstructed the right main pulmonary artery. A skip lesion was also suspected in the periphery of pulmonary artery trunk. The tumor was removed by right pneumonectomy accompanied by resection of the main and left pulmonary arteries under cardiopulmonary bypass. The pulmonary artery trunk and the left pulmonary artery were reconstructed with a vascular graft. Collectively, intimal sarcoma originating from the right main pulmonary artery with extension into the right lung was diagnosed. Significant extension of pulmonary artery sarcoma into the lung, as was observed in the present case, is considered to be rare, and to our knowledge this is the first report in which the primary lesion was biopsied by bronchoscopy

ras Mutations in Endocrine Tumors : Mutation Detection by Polymerase Chain Reaction‐Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism

To elucidate the molecular basis for endocrine tumorigenesis, ras mutations in human endocrine tumors were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction‐single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR‐SSCP) analysis. Mutations of the H‐, K‐, N‐ras genes were examined in genomic DNAs from 169 successfully amplified primary endocrine tumors out of 189 samples. Four out of 24 thyroid follicular adenomas analyzed contained mutated N‐ras codon 61, and one contained the mutated H‐ras codon 61. One of the 19 pheochromocytomas revealed mutation of the H‐ras codon 13. No mutations of the ras gene were detected in pituitary adenomas, parathyroid tumors, thyroid cancers, endocrine pancreatic tumors, and adrenocortical tumors. Based on these findings we conclude that activation of the ras gene may play a role in the tumorigenesis of a limited number of thyroid follicular adenomas and pheochromocytomas, and that mutation of the ras gene is not frequent in other human endocrine tumors

    自己肯定感・主体性を育む保育・育児についての考察:キリスト教保育の視点から

論文From the viewpoint of Christian education, especially early childhood education and child-rearing, the promotion of a childʼs self-worth and self-direction is very significant. This is achieved through quality teaching practices. In order to improve the quality of child rearing and teaching practices, self-reflection and evaluation are necessary. Certain theories, principles and methods (supported by studies and research) are available as reference tools for the self-evaluation of teachers and those involved with child-rearing. Two theories are introduced in this paper which promote quality teaching practices: “Effective Teacher Training” and “The Boundaries” Also included are concrete examples from “Arigato child rearing workshop” and “Hokurikugakuin-Daiichi Kindergarten

Integrated analysis of the oral and intestinal microbiome and metabolome of elderly people with more than 26 original teeth: a pilot study

Elderly subjects with more than 20 natural teeth have a higher healthy life expectancy than those with few or no teeth. The oral microbiome and its metabolome are associated with oral health, and they are also associated with systemic health via the oral-gut axis. Here, we analyzed the oral and gut microbiome and metabolome profiles of elderly subjects with more than 26 natural teeth. Salivary samples collected as mouth-rinsed water and fecal samples were obtained from 22 healthy individuals, 10 elderly individuals with more than 26 natural teeth and 24 subjects with periodontal disease. The oral microbiome and metabolome profiles of elderly individuals resembled those of subjects with periodontal disease, with the metabolome showing a more substantial differential abundance of components. Despite the distinct oral metabolome profiles, there was no differential abundance of components in the gut microbiome and metabolomes, except for enrichment of short-chain fatty acids in elderly subjects. Finally, to investigate the relationship between the oral and gut microbiome and metabolome, we analyzed bacterial coexistence in the oral cavity and gut and analyzed the correlation of metabolite levels between the oral cavity and gut. However, there were few associations between oral and gut for bacteria and metabolites in either elderly or healthy subjects. Overall, these results indicate distinct oral microbiome and metabolome profiles, as well as the lack of an oral-gut axis in elderly subjects with a high number of natural teeth
