Possible Way to Synthesize Superheavy Element Z=117

Within the framework of the dinuclear system model, the production of superheavy element Z=117 in possible projectile-target combinations is analyzed systematically. The calculated results show that the production cross sections are strongly dependent on the reaction systems. Optimal combinations, corresponding excitation energies and evaporation channels are proposed in this letter, such as the isotopes ^{248,249}Bk in ^{48}Ca induced reactions in 3n evaporation channels and the reactions ^{45}Sc+^{246,248}Cm in 3n and 4n channels, and the system ^{51}V+^{244}Pu in 3n channel.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, 1 tabl

Evolution equation of entanglement for general bipartite systems

We explore how entanglement of a general bipartite system evolves when one subsystem undergoes the action of an arbitrary noisy channel. It is found that the dynamics of entanglement for general bipartite systems under the influence of such channel is determined by the channel's action on the maximally entangled state, which includes as a special case the results for two-qubit systems [Nature Physics 4, 99 (2008)]. In particular, for multi-qubit or qubit-qudit systems, we get a general factorization law for evolution equation of entanglement with one qubit being subject to a noisy channel. Our results can help the experimental characterization of entanglement dynamics.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

Differences in Mode of Action of Cochinchinenin A and B on Tetrodotoxin-Resistant Sodium Channels

Purpose: To explore the mechanism of antagonistic interaction between cochinchinenin A and B in modulating tetrodotoxin-resistant (TTR-X) sodium currents. Methods: The time variation of the effects induced by cochinchinenin A and B on the TTX-R sodium currents in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons of rats were observed using whole-cell patch clamp technique. Based on pharmacological fundamental theory, the modes of action of  cochinchinenin A and B on TTX-R channels were distinguished. Results: The scatter diagram which reflected the time variation of inhibition effect on TTX-R sodium currents induced by cochinchinenin A fitted well with occupancy theory equation (goodness of fit test, p > 0.05), while that of cochinchinenin B fitted well with rate theory equation (p > 0.05). The rate constants for combination and dissociation between cochinchinenin A and TTX-R sodium channel were (198.7 ± 39.9) x 10-3 and (41.1 ± 6.2) x 10-3 respectively; while corresponding values for combination andassociation between cochinchinenin B and TTX-R sodium channel were (99.9 ± 16.8) x 10-3 and (5.3 ± 0.4) x 10-3 respectively. Conclusion: The main cause of the antagonistic interaction between cochinchinenin A and B may be attributed to the different modes of their action on TTX-R sodium channels. Keywords: Cochinchinenin, Tetrodotoxin-resistant sodium channel, Antagonistic interaction, Occupancy theory, Rate theor

Extending the first-order post-Newtonian scheme in multiple systems to the second-order contributions to light propagation

In this paper, we extend the first-order post-Newtonian scheme in multiple systems presented by Damour-Soffel-Xu to the second-order contribution to light propagation without changing the virtueof the scheme on the linear partial differential equations of the potential and vector potential. The spatial components of the metric are extended to second order level both in a global coordinates (qij/c4q_{ij}/ c^4) and a local coordinates (Qab/c4Q_{ab}/ c^4). The equations of qijq_{ij} (or QabQ_{ab}) are obtained from the field equations. The relationship between qijq_{ij} and QabQ_{ab} are presented in this paper also. In special case of the solar system (isotropic condition is applied (qij=δijqq_{ij} = \delta_{ij} q )), we obtain the solution of qq. Finally, a further extension of the second-order contributions in the parametrized post-Newtonian formalism is discussed.Comment: Latex2e; 6 pages PS fil

Studying arsenic trioxide-induced apoptosis of Colo-16 cells with two-photon and confocal laser scanning microscopy

With two-photon and confocal laser scanning microscopy in combination with fluorescent probes Hoechst 33342, 2′,7′-dichlorofluorescin diacetate (DCFH-DA) and Fluo 3-AM, we simultaneously observed arsenic trioxide (As2O3)-induced changes in nuclear morphology, reactive oxygen species (ROS) and intracellular calcium concentration (Ca2+)i within human skin squamous carcinoma cells (Colo-16 cells). Our results indicated that As2O3 induced (Ca2+)i elevation and ROS production within Colo-16 cells, and both (Ca2+)i elevation and ROS production were involved in the apoptosis of Colo-16 cells. These results suggested that two-photon and confocal laser scanning microscopy might provide a real-time, sensitive and noninvasive method for simultaneously multi-parameter observation of As2O3- induced apoptosis at the single cell level.Key words: Two-photon laser scanning microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy, human skin squamous carcinoma cells (Colo-16 cells), arsenic trioxide, apoptosi

    Multiple-crystal X-ray topographic characterization of periodically domain-inverted KTiOPO4 crystal

    Get PDF
A periodically domain-inverted KTiOPO4 crystal has been characterized for the first time by multiple-crystal multiple-reflection x-ray topography. The striation contrast within the domain- inverted regions has been revealed in high strain-sensitivity reflection topographs. The origin of formation of the striation contrast and the mechanism of domain inversion in KTiOPO4 are discussed in terms of the structural characteristics of KTiOPO4

A Kind of New Multicast Routing Algorithm for Application of Internet of Things

    Get PDF
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is widely used as an effective medium to integrate physical world and information world of Internet of Things (IOT). While keeping energy consumption at a minimal level, WSN requires reliable communication. Multicasting is a general operation performed by the Base Station, where data is to be transmitted to a set of destination nodes. Generally, the packets are routed in a multi-hop approach, where some intermediate nodes are also used for packet forwarding. This problem can be reduced to the well-known Steiner tree problem, which has proven to be NP-complete for deterministic link descriptors and cost functions. In this paper, we propose a novel multicast protocol, named heuristic algorithms for the solution of the Quality of Service (QoS) constrained multicast routing problem, with incomplete information in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). As information aggregation or randomly fluctuating traffic loads, link measures are considered to be random variables. Simulation results show that the Hop Neural Networks (HNN) based heuristics with a properly chosen additive measures can yield to a good solution for this traditionally NP complex problem, when compared to the best multicast algorithms known

Potential Energy Surfaces of SimOn Cluster Formation and Isomerization

    Get PDF
The reaction paths for formation and isomerization of a set of silica SimOn (m = 2,3, n = 1−5) nanoclusters have been investigated using second-order pertubation theory (MP2) with the 6-31G(d) basis set. The MP2/6-31G(d) calculations have predicted singlet ground states for all clusters excluding Si3O2. The total energies of the most important points on the potential energy surfaces (PES) have been determined using the completely renormalized (CR) singles and doubles coupled cluster method including perturbative triples, CR-CCSD(T) with the cc-pVTZ basis set. Although transition states have been located for many isomerization reactions, only for Si3O3 and Si3O4 have some transition states been found for the formation of a cluster from the separated reactants. In all other cases, the process of formation of SimOnclusters appears to proceed without potential energy barriers
