    Reconstructing the acoustic far-field using a semi-circular sensor array

    A method to reconstruct the acoustic far-field using a semi-circular sensor array is proposed. Firstly, the pressures in the acoustic far-field are measured by a semi-circular sensor array; then, the acoustic far-field is reconstructed based on the theory of acoustic radiation modes. The numerical simulations for reconstructing the acoustic far-field of a baffled rectangular plate are conducted. The results show that the acoustic far-field of the baffled rectangular plate can be reconstructed accurately by a few sensors on the semi-circular array. The influence of noise to the reconstruction of acoustic field is analyzed, and the robustness of the proposed method is proved. This paper provides a method for the reconstruction of acoustic far-field through a simple measuring array. The method can be applied to the acoustic field reconstruction of large structures, and has good engineering application prospects

    Mcm5 Represses Endodermal Migration through Cxcr4a-itgb1b Cascade Instead of Cell Cycle Control

    Minichromosome maintenance protein 5 (MCM5) is a critical cell cycle regulator; its role in DNA replication is well known, but whether it is involved in the regulation of organogenesis in a cell cycle-independent way, is far from clear. In this study, we found that a loss of mcm5 function resulted in a mildly smaller liver, but that mcm5 overexpression led to liver bifida. Further, the data showed that mcm5 overexpression delayed endodermal migration in the ventral–dorsal axis and induced the liver bifida. Cell cycle analysis showed that a loss of mcm5 function, but not overexpression, resulted in cell cycle delay and increased cell apoptosis during gastrulation, implying that liver bifida was not the result of a cell cycle defect. In terms of its mechanism, our data proves that mcm5 represses the expression of cxcr4a, which sequentially causes a decrease in the expression of itgb1b during gastrulation. The downregulation of the cxcr4a-itgb1b cascade leads to an endodermal migration delay during gastrulation, as well as to the subsequent liver bifida during liver morphogenesis. In conclusion, our results suggest that in a cell cycle-independent way, mcm5 works as a gene expression regulator, either partially and directly, or indirectly repressing the expression of cxcr4a and the downstream gene itgb1b, to coordinate endodermal migration during gastrulation and liver location during liver organogenesis

    Cross-genotype protection of live-attenuated vaccine candidate for severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus in a ferret model

    Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) virus (SFTSV) is an emerging tick-borne virus classified within the Banyangvirus genus. SFTS disease has been reported throughout East Asia since 2009 and is characterized by high fever, thrombocytopenia, and leukopenia and has a 12 to 30% case fatality rate. Due to the recent emergence of SFTSV, there has been little time to conduct research into preventative measures aimed at combatting the virus. SFTSV is listed as one of the World Health Organization’s Prioritized Pathogens for research into antiviral therapeutics and vaccine development. Here, we report 2 attenuated recombinant SFTS viruses that induce a humoral immune response in immunized ferrets and confer complete cross-genotype protection to lethal challenge. Animals infected with rHB29NSsP102A or rHB2912aaNSs (both genotype D) had a reduced viral load in both serum and tissues and presented without high fever, thrombocytopenia, or mortality associated with infection. rHB29NSsP102A- or rHB2912aaNSs-immunized animals developed a robust anti-SFTSV immune response against cross-genotype isolates of SFTSV. This immune response was capable of neutralizing live virus in a focus-reduction neutralization test (FRNT) and was 100% protective against a cross-genotype lethal challenge with the CB1/2014 strain of SFTSV (genotype B). Thus, using our midsized, aged ferret infection model, we demonstrate 2 live attenuated vaccine candidates against the emerging pathogen SFTSV

    Play as You Like: Timbre-enhanced Multi-modal Music Style Transfer

    Style transfer of polyphonic music recordings is a challenging task when considering the modeling of diverse, imaginative, and reasonable music pieces in the style different from their original one. To achieve this, learning stable multi-modal representations for both domain-variant (i.e., style) and domain-invariant (i.e., content) information of music in an unsupervised manner is critical. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised music style transfer method without the need for parallel data. Besides, to characterize the multi-modal distribution of music pieces, we employ the Multi-modal Unsupervised Image-to-Image Translation (MUNIT) framework in the proposed system. This allows one to generate diverse outputs from the learned latent distributions representing contents and styles. Moreover, to better capture the granularity of sound, such as the perceptual dimensions of timbre and the nuance in instrument-specific performance, cognitively plausible features including mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC), spectral difference, and spectral envelope, are combined with the widely-used mel-spectrogram into a timber-enhanced multi-channel input representation. The Relativistic average Generative Adversarial Networks (RaGAN) is also utilized to achieve fast convergence and high stability. We conduct experiments on bilateral style transfer tasks among three different genres, namely piano solo, guitar solo, and string quartet.     Simulation Research on Driving Behaviour of Autonomous Vehicles on Expressway Ramp Under the Background of Vehicle-Road Coordination

    Constructing a risk model with the subject of autonomous vehicles to screen out the vehicles of potential conflicts and analyze their choices under different strategies. Based on the co-simulation of Python and SUMO, establishing a model of on-ramp merge driving behaviour of autonomous vehicles based on non-cooperative static game. Under this model, the experiment results that the average speed in the merging area is increased by 12.7%, the standard deviation of the average speed is reduced by 35.46%, and the number of the vehicles successfully merged before the end of the merging area is 4.86 times that of traditional method, indicate that the model can effectively help the vehicles be merged and improve the traffic efficiency to a certain extent
