Nutritive characteristics of probiotic quark as influenced by type of starter
Quark was manufactured, under laboratory conditions, by standard batch process, from two types of milk: I) partially skimmed, with 1.6 % of fat and II) whole milk, with 3.5 % of fat. As starters, two probiotic cultures were applied: I) DVS-Probio-TecTM ABT- 1, Lactobacillus acidophilus-5, Bifidobacterium-12, S. thermophilus and II) DVS-Probio-TecTM ABT-2, Lactobacillus acidophilus-5, Bifidobacterium-12, S. thermophilus. Also, the traditional cheese culture (CH - N22) was used. The obtained Quark samples were tested by standard methods in order to determine their nutritive characteristics. The results have shown that probiotic starter ABT-1 ensured the highest level of utilization of fat, proteins, lactose and phosphorus from partially skimmed milk. Probiotic culture ABT-2 was less effective, but combined with the traditional starter and applied to a whole milk could give Quark with acceptable nutritive characteristics. When sensory characteristics of products were tested, it has been proven that the application of ABT-2 culture and combination of probiotic starters ABT-2 and traditional culture gave good products with typical mild flavor. On the contrary, inoculation with ABT-1 probiotic starter resulted in lower-quality products in case of both kinds of milk applied.
Comment on ``Lyapunov Exponent of a Many Body System and Its Transport Coefficients''
In a recent Letter, Barnett, Tajima, Nishihara, Ueshima and Furukawa obtained
a theoretical expression for the maximum Lyapunov exponent of a
dilute gas. They conclude that is proportional to the cube root of
the self-diffusion coefficient , independent of the range of the interaction
potential. They validate their conjecture with numerical data for a dense
one-component plasma, a system with long-range forces. We claim that their
result is highly non-generic. We show in the following that it does not apply
to a gas of hard spheres, neither in the dilute nor in the dense phase.Comment: 1 page, Revtex - 1 PS Figs - Submitted to Physical Review Letter
The influence of chemical characteristics of precipitation on tree health in Banjica Forest (Belgrade, Serbia)
The most represented tree species in the Banjica Forest are Acer negundo, Quercus robur, Acer pseudoplatanus, Populus nigra, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Fraxinus ornus and Robinia pseudoacacia. According to the ICP Forests combined assessment (degree of defoliation and decolorization), endangered species are Populus nigra (64.3% of heavily damaged trees), Quercus robur (45.5%), Fraxinus pennsylvanica (37.0%) and Acer negundo (26.6%), while the situation is much better for Acer pseudoplatanus and Fraxinus ornus. For Robinia pseudoacacia, 83% of trees are without decolorization, however, defoliation is established. In the period from April to October 2009, the average pH of rainwater was 5.46, and 5.18 in the period from November 2009 to March 2010. The concentration of SO42- in the period from April to October 2009 amounted to an average of 24.21 mg/l, and 28.87 mg/l in the period from November 2009 to March 2010. The concentration of SO42- and pH values is a possible explanation for the condition of the trees. [Acknowledgments. The results are a part of the project III47007 funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Serbia.

Veterinarski informacioni menadžment sistem (VIMS) u procesu prijavljivanja i menadžmenta zaraznih bolesti
A prerequisite to the development of an efficient animal health, food safety and traceability management system in the animal food production chain is the implementation of an integrated veterinary informational management system (VIMS) capable for the capture, storage, analysis and retrieval of data and providing the opportunity for the cumulative gathering of the knowledge and capability for its competent interpretation. Such a system will enable collecting appropriate data, including quality management and inspection controls, from all establishments and commodities in the 'from farm to fork' food production chain (farms, holdings, slaughterhouses, laboratories, traders etc.) in a structured, predefined format, and facilitate competent analyses and reporting of such data, as well as the improvement of the existing programs and strategies. The role of information system in animal disease diagnosis, surveillance and notification, control of national and international trade of commodities, food safety management, investigation of diseases, predictive microbiology and quantitative risk assessment is of great importance for the quality of veterinary service. Integral part of the VIMS is animal disease notification system designed according to and in compliance with international requirements, standards and recommendation and able to exchange relevant information with similar information systems. The aim of this contribution is to describe national animal disease notification system which is in place in Serbia as a part of VIMS.Preduslov za uspostavljanje efikasnog sistema menadžmenta zdravstvene zaÅ”tite životinja, bezbednosti hrane i sledljivosti u lancu proizvodnje hrane je uvoÄenje integrisanog veterinarskog informacionog menadžment sistema (VIMS) razvijenog na takav naÄin da omoguÄi prikupljanje, Äuvanje, analizu i povlaÄenje podataka i obezbedi kumulativno skupljanje saznanja i njihovu struÄnu interpretaciju.
Magnetotunnelling in resonant tunnelling structures with spin-orbit interaction
Magnetotunnelling spectroscopy of resonant tunnelling structures provides
information on the nature of the two-dimensional electron gas in the well. We
describe a model based on nonequilibrium Green's functions that allows for a
comprehensive study of the density of states, tunnelling currents and current
spin polarization. The investigated effects include the electron-phonon
interaction, interface roughness scattering, Zeeman effect and the Rashba
spin-orbit interaction. A qualitative agreement with experimental data is found
regarding the satellite peaks. The spin polarization is predicted to be larger
than ten percent for magnetic fields above 2 Tesla and having a structure even
at the satellite peaks. The Rashba effect is confirmed to be observable as a
beating pattern in the density of states but found to be too small to affect
the tunnelling current.Comment: 31 pages, 11 figure
Uticaj meteoroloŔkih parametara na koncentraciju SO2 u Obrenovcu, Srbija
In this paper, the impacts of some meteorological parameters on the SO2 concentrations in the City of Obrenovac are presented. The City of Obrenovac is located in the north-west part of Serbia on the banks of the River Sava. The observed source emission, the power plants TENT A and B are situated on the bank of the Sava River in the vicinity of Obrenovac. During the period from January to November 2006, the concentrations of sulfur dioxide in the air at 4 monitoring sites in Obrenovac were measured. It was noticed that the maximal measured daily concentrations of sulfur dioxide ranged from 1 Ī¼g m-3 (16th November, 2006) to 98 Ī¼g m-3 (29th January 2006) and lie under the maximal allowed concentration value according to the Serbian Law on Environmental Protection. The measured sulfur dioxide concentrations mostly showed characteristics usual for a daily acidification sulfur dioxide cycle, excluding the specificities influenced by the measuring site itself. Sulfur dioxide transport was recorded at increased wind speeds, primarily from the southeast direction. Based on the impact of meteorological parameters on the sulfur dioxide concentration, a validation of the monitoring sites was also performed from the aspect of their representivity.U radu su predstavljeni rezultati monitoringa koncentracije SO2 u vazduhu u Obrenovcu koji se nalazi na severozapadu Srbije na obalama reke Save.
