    Rational invariant tori, phase space tunneling, and spectra for non-selfadjoint operators in dimension 2

    We study spectral asymptotics and resolvent bounds for non-selfadjoint perturbations of selfadjoint hh-pseudodifferential operators in dimension 2, assuming that the classical flow of the unperturbed part is completely integrable. Spectral contributions coming from rational invariant Lagrangian tori are analyzed. Estimating the tunnel effect between strongly irrational (Diophantine) and rational tori, we obtain an accurate description of the spectrum in a suitable window in the complex spectral plane, provided that the strength of the non-selfadjoint perturbation ≫h\gg h (or sometimes ≫h2\gg h^2) is not too large.Comment: 66 page

    We investigate the viscous model of quantum hydrodynamics, which describes the charge transport in a certain semiconductor. Quantum mechanical effects lead to third order derivatives, turning the stationary system into an elliptic system of mixed order in the sense of Douglis-Nirenberg. In the case most relevant to applications, the semiconductor device features a piecewise constant barrier potential. In the case of thermodynamicequilibrium, we obtain asymptotic expansions of interfacial layers of the particle density in neighbourhoods of the jump points of this barrier potential, and we present rigorous proofs of uniform estimates of the remainder terms in these asymptotic expansions

    An Integrated Development Environment for Declarative Multi-Paradigm Programming

    In this paper we present CIDER (Curry Integrated Development EnviRonment), an analysis and programming environment for the declarative multi-paradigm language Curry. CIDER is a graphical environment to support the development of Curry programs by providing integrated tools for the analysis and visualization of programs. CIDER is completely implemented in Curry using libraries for GUI programming (based on Tcl/Tk) and meta-programming. An important aspect of our environment is the possible adaptation of the development environment to other declarative source languages (e.g., Prolog or Haskell) and the extensibility w.r.t. new analysis methods. To support the latter feature, the lazy evaluation strategy of the underlying implementation language Curry becomes quite useful.Comment: In A.
