XCT porosity measurements on ferritic steel: a multiscale approach

    No full text

This video presents how a multiscale approach can be used to characterise porosity in steel specimens. The full specimen can be scanned at low resolution to obtain an overview of the largest pores over the entire volume. A high resolution scan can be performed to observe the smaller pores on a region of interest. Both scans can be merged and analysed together to highlight the differences.

Scanning was performed at the Henry Moseley X-ray Imaging Facility in Manchester on the Nikon Metrology Custom Bay system (3 ÎĽm voxel size) and on the Zeiss Xradia Versa system (0.8 ÎĽm voxel size). Data visualisation and analysis was performed with Avizo Fire version 8.0 from Visualization Sciences Group (FEI).</p
