Get PDF
As socialism with Chinese characteristics enters a new era, the flourishing development of volunteer service has become an important symbol of social civilization and modernization. Starting from the ethical perspective of volunteer service, this paper proposes some thoughts and insights for building a “Chinese model” of college student volunteer service based on a systematic discussion of the ethical connotation, ethical characteristics, ethical functions, ethical values and practical paths of volunteer service, which provides a new logical-theoretical generalization and practical choice paradigm for strengthening the construction of the socialist core value system and advancing the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity. This will provide a brand-new logical-theoretical generalization and practical choice paradigm for strengthening the construction of the socialist core value system and promoting the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity

Get PDF
With the development of open source community, through the interaction of developers, the collaborative development of software, and the sharing of software tools, the formation of open source software ecosystem has matured. Natural ecosystems provide ecological services on which human beings depend. Maintaining a healthy natural ecosystem is a necessity for the sustainable development of mankind. Similarly, maintaining a healthy ecosystem of open source software is also a prerequisite for the sustainable development of open source communities, such as GitHub. This paper takes GitHub as an example to analyze the health condition of open source ecosystem and, also, it is a research area in Symmetry. Firstly, the paper presents the healthy definition of GitHub open source ecosystem health and, then, according to the main components of natural ecosystem health, the paper proposes the health indicators and health indicators evaluation method. Based on the above, the GitHub ecosystem health prediction method is proposed. By analyzing the projects and data collected in GitHub, it is found that, using the proposed evaluation indicators and method, we can analyze the healthy development trend of the GitHub ecosystem and contribute to the stability of ecosystem development

Challenges facing housing affordability in Beijing in the Twenty-first century

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is analyse to what extent the high price had led to low levels of housing affordability in the period 2002-2006 in Beijing. Due to the importance of housing for local residents and the crucial position that real estate market in the Chinese economy is currently in, research into the housing affordability issues is now essential. It is important to consider the social circumstances that are predominantly related to both the standard of living and the national economy in Beijing.Design/methodology/approach – The housing price to income ratio (PIR) method and Housing Affordability Index (HAI) model are used to measure housing affordability in Beijing. Then, the reasons for the high housing prices in Beijing are discussed and government homeownership-oriented policies to help citizen on housing issues are examined. Finally, future proposals which can contribute to ease the housing affordability problem are recommended.Findings – The main findings in this research are that the PIR in the Beijing housing market (based on an average gross floor area of 60?m2) fluctuated between 6.69 and 9.12, respectively, between 2002 and 2006. Over the same period, the HAI was approximately 75 between 2002 and 2004, although decreasing sharply in 2005 (65.78) and 2006 (51.33). It appears that the Chinese government\u27s new housing provision policies may be able to ease this affordability problem, especially with regards to the economic housing scheme.Originality/value – China has experienced rapid growth in gross domestic product (GDP) with a substantial increase in house prices which have affected housing affordability for typical Beijing households. Since the housing reform in China commenced in 1998, Beijing residents, government officers and academics have been concerned about high housing prices in the city, which is considered beyond the buying capability of the ordinary residents. The results are designed to provide an insight into the level of housing affordability in Beijing and whether a trend exists.<br /

Image-based Geolocalization by Ground-to-2.5D Map Matching

We study the image-based geolocalization problem, aiming to localize ground-view query images on cartographic maps. Current methods often utilize cross-view localization techniques to match ground-view query images with 2D maps. However, the performance of these methods is unsatisfactory due to significant cross-view appearance differences. In this paper, we lift cross-view matching to a 2.5D space, where heights of structures (e.g., trees and buildings) provide geometric information to guide the cross-view matching. We propose a new approach to learning representative embeddings from multi-modal data. Specifically, we establish a projection relationship between 2.5D space and 2D aerial-view space. The projection is further used to combine multi-modal features from the 2.5D and 2D maps using an effective pixel-to-point fusion method. By encoding crucial geometric cues, our method learns discriminative location embeddings for matching panoramic images and maps. Additionally, we construct the first large-scale ground-to-2.5D map geolocalization dataset to validate our method and facilitate future research. Both single-image based and route based localization experiments are conducted to test our method. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method achieves significantly higher localization accuracy and faster convergence than previous 2D map-based approaches

Molecular Characterization of Thyroid Hormone Receptors (TRs) and their Responsiveness to T3 in Microhyla fissipes

To explore and enrich the molecular mechanisms of thyroid hormone receptors (TRs) in the metamorphosis of amphibians, the cDNA sequences of TR alpha and TR beta in Microhyla fissipes were cloned and characterized. TR alpha was 1 706 bp in length with an open reading frame (ORF) of 1 257 bp encoding a predicted protein of 418 amino acids and TR beta was 1 422 bp with an ORF of 1 122 bp encoding a predicted protein of 373 amino acids. Their protein sequences contained 4 conserved domains of the nuclear receptor superfamily with two highly conserved cysteine-rich zinc fingers in the DNA-binding domain, whereas TR beta was 42 amino acids shorter in its A/B domain than TR alpha. Highly-conserved sequences and structures indicated their conserved functions during metamorphosis. TR alpha expression reached peak at 12 h and then decreased from 12 h to 48 h. While dramatically up-regulated TR beta was observed after exposure of T3 within 24 h, and it was down-regulated from 24 h to 48 h. The expression pattern of TR beta is similar to that in the natural metamorphosis. Furthermore, tadpoles treated 24 h also resembled the climax of metamorphosis tadpoles and TR beta expression had higher responsiveness than TR alpha to T3 in M. fissipes. These results suggest M. fissipes may serve as the model to assay environmental compounds on TH signaling disruption

Sexually transmitted infections and associated risk factors among sexual minority women in China

There is a potential for transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) within sexual minority women (SMW) in China. However, research specifically focused on STIs among SMW in China is severely limited. This study aims to evaluate the prevalence of STIs and identify associated risk factors among SMW in Beijing, China. This study comprised a baseline assessment followed by a follow-up evaluation. Consistent questionnaire interviews and STI tests were administered during both stages. Participants were recruited online in Beijing between 2020 and 2021 and factors associated with STIs were analyzed using logistic and Cox regression models. The baseline included 219 SMW, and 58.9% (129/219) of these individuals participated in the follow-up. During the baseline assessment, 4.1% (9/219) tested positive for chlamydia infection, while 5.0% (11/219) were HSV-2 seropositive. At the follow-up, the incidence of HSV-2 was 3.7 cases per 100 person-years. Notably, engaging in sexual activity with men and having an increased number of sexual partners were both identified as factors associated with a higher risk of STIs. The findings suggest that SMW in Beijing may face a significant risk of contracting STIs. As a preventive measure, there should be a concerted effort to promote STI testing within the SMW community
