It has been identified that one of the most important causes of work absenteeism for health reasons is exposure to psychosocial factors. These psychosocial factors have also been related to different conditions to the workers, such as health gastrointestinal, dermatological, and endocrinological disorders, among others and to certain behaviors that are related to health, such as the habit of smoking, the consumption of alcohol, drugs, narcotics and sedentary lifestyle. The purpose of this article is to explain the psychometric properties of the SUSESO/ISTAS21 Chilean version instrument, adapted for a sample of 209 workers belonging to the civil works area of a construction project. The sample included male and female workers. The complete version of the instrument has 89 items distributed in 5 dimensions, while the adapted version, after having carried out the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), was made up of 19 items that had a factor load greater than 0.7 distributed in four factors or dimensions. From the analysis carried out, good correlations were found, the composition in factors is similar to that of the original instrument, and the validity and reliability of the adapted instrument were obtained with Cronbach's alpha values between 0.70 and 0.90, necessary for its application.
