The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of chicken manure and green manure Calopogonium mucunoides on the growth and production of vegetable soybean under organic farming system. The study was conducted at IPB research station, Leuwikopo, Darmaga, Bogor from June 2004 to March 2005. The experiment used split plot design with chicken manure dosages (0 and 10 ton/ha) as main plots and seed of green manure dosages (0, 7.5, 15, and 30 ton/ha) as sub plots. Chicken manure significantly resulted in better agronomic characters compared to that of without chicken manure. Green manure significantly increased plant height on 4 to 7 weeks after planting (WAP), number of leaves on 6 WAP. Interaction between chicken manure and green manure significantly influenced fresh weight of root nodule and 100 seeds. Fresh weight of 100 seeds was the highest with the application of either 10 ton chicken manure/ha or 15 kg seed of green manure/ha. Except plant height and number of leaves, generally growth and production of soybean under organic farming system were better than those under conventional farmin

The awareness of the negative impacts of conventional agriculture has been encouraging people to switch from conventional farming to the organic farming, using organic and biological fertilizers. This farming system changes will influence the character of the plant and the yield. The objective of the research was to investigate the morphophysiology and physicochemical characters of rice with various rates of organic and biological fertilizer. The experiment was conducted at rice field in Karawang and Bogor, West Java, from May to September 2012. The experiment used a single factor randomized block design consisted of three replications with 12 treatments. The first 6 treatments were 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 ton organic fertilizer ha-1, and the other 6 treatments were 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 ton organic fertilizer ha-1 combined with 2 l biological fertilizer ha-1. As control treatment was application of anorganic fertilizer with the rate of 400 kg NPK (30-6-8) ha-1. Plot size was 15 m x 10 m, with a double row spacing (legowo 2:1) (25 cm x 15 cm x 50). The results showed that organic fertilizer either without or with biological fertilizers increased the weight of 1,000 grains and decreased amylose content of rice. The score of leaf color in plants with inorganic fertilizer was higher than those with organic fertilizer

Application of organic fertilizer into the soil is designated as a source of macro, micro nutrients and organic acids; it also acts as soil ameliorant that improve physical, chemical and biological properties of soil. Application of high rates organic fertilizer has a constraint namely the availability and ease of application. Therefore, it is necessary to learn the use of organic fertilizer with low rates to improve the efficiency of chemical fertilizers. This research was aimed to study the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield of paddy rice, as well as the efficiency of N, P, K inorganic fertilizer. Field experiment was conducted at Sawah Baru Research Station, University Farm IPB, Bogor, West Java from September to December 2013. The experiment used Randomized Block Design consisted of two factors: rates of organic fertilizer (0, 250, 500, 750, and 1,000 kg ha-1), and rates of inorganic fertilizer (0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 kg ha-1). The results suggested that the application of 1,000 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 did not show significant interaction. Application of organic fertilizer alone up to 1,000 kg ha-1 resulted in low growth and yield. Increasing rates of application up to 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 increased the growth and yield of paddy rice. The highest N efficiency was 89.19% at a rate of 500 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 200 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1, whereas the highest efficiency of P and K, respectively were 69.55% and 92.52% at a rate of 750 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 300 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1

Field experiment to study biomass and bioactive compound productions of Talinum triangulare from different propagules and chicken manure dosages was conducted at Leuwikopo, Dramaga, Bogor, West Java, Indonesia from September to November 2005. The research used split plot design with 3 replications. The main plot was propagules (seed and stem cutting) and sub plot was chicken manure dosages (0, 5, 10, and 15 t ha-1). Bioactive compound was determined qualitatively. The results showed that stem cutting gave the highest leaf dry weight (7.78 g plant-1) and tuber dry weight (4.99 g plant-1). The bioactive compounds (alkaloid, steroid, saponin, tannin, and flavonoid) were not influenced by propagules. The dosage of 15 t ha-1 chicken manure gave the highest leaf dry weight (10.73 g plant-1) and tuber dry weight (6.36 g plant-1). The bioactive compound decreased with the increasing chicken manure dosages. Interaction of stem cutting and 15 t ha-1 of chicken manure gave the highest leaf dry weight (12.43 g plant-1). Bioactive compound and tuber dry weight were not influenced by the interaction of propagules and chicken manure dosages

The study was addressed to investigating the effect of cow manure application rate on organic rice growth and yield in the first cropping season. The study was conducted from January to April 2012 in Blora, Central Java, Indonesia. The experiment was arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design, consisting of four treatments and four replications. There were two types of control treatments i.e. organic fertilizer treatments (statistically analyzed) and conventional fertilizer (not statistically analyzed). The treatments were corn biomass, corn biomass+cow manure (7.5 tons ha-1), corn biomass+cow manure (10 tons ha-1) and cow manure (10 tons ha-1) with square spacing of 20 cm x 20 cm. The organic control treatments were corn biomass+sheep manure (7.5 tons ha-1) with spacing of 20 cm x 20 cm and corn biomass+cow manure (7.5 tons ha-1) with double-row spacing of 40 cm x 25 cm x 15 cm. For every treatment, the rate of corn biomass was 3 tons ha-1. All organic treatments were also added with 3 tons rice hull ash ha-1. The application of cow manure (10 tons ha-1) with square spacing or corn biomass+cow manure (7.5 tons ha-1) with double-row spacing resulted in better performance than those of other treatments
