    Studies on the biosynthesis of cordycepin

    The carboxyl carbons of acetate and isovalerate do not serve to any appreciable extent as precursors of cordycepin, thus arguing against the origin of cordycepose from pathways of isoprenoid biosynthesis. Exogenously added [8-14C]adenine, [I-14C]-glucose, and [6-14C]glucose serve as excellent precursors, the latter two compounds labeling both the base and sugar of the nucleoside. [6-14C]glucose labels cordycepose better than [I-14C]glucose, thereby indicating a loss of carbon atom number one of the glucose molecule in cordycepose synthesis.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/32376/1/0000451.pd

    The Effect of Paraprotein on Platelet Aggregation

    Background Some patients with paraproteinemia have platelet aggregation disorders and the aim of this study was to examine disturbance of platelet aggregation in healthy blood donors by isolated paraprotein in vitro. Methods Using Rivanol, paraprotein was separated from the serum of ten patients with paraproteinemia, who had decreased platelet aggregation with several inducers. Platelet aggregation in ten healthy donors was measured with and without addition of the isolated induced paraprotein. The test was repeated with added human immunoglobulins for intravenous use. Results Average of maximal levels of platelet aggregation has been significantly decreased in plasma rich in platelets (PRP) of healthy donors after addition of paraprotein when inducers are used: adenosine diphosphate (ADP) (P = 0.007), collagen (COL) (P = 0.008), ristocetin (RIS) (P = 0.001), and epinephrine (EPI) (P = 0.002). Average of latent time of platelet aggregation was significantly prolonged in healthy donors after addition of paraprotein with inducers: COL (P = 0.008), RIS (P = 0.008) and EPI (P = 0.006) while addition of human immunoglobulins caused no change in platelet aggregation. In comparison, when human immunoglobulins were added, maximal platelet aggregation and latent time did not change significantly. Paraprotein isolated from patients with paraproteinamia, who had decrease platelet aggregation, had significantly decreased platelet aggregation when added to PRP of healthy donors, in vitro. Conclusion Platelet aggregation was not significantly changed was confirmed with addition of human immunoglobulins

    Glutamine synthetase : II. The intracellular localization in the rat liver

    The intracellular distribution of glutamine synthetase (-glutamate: ammonia ligase (ADP), EC 6.3.1.2) in normal and regenerating rat livers has been studied. The distribution of the enzyme activity in liver in these two situations is similar. The highest enzyme activity occurred in the microsome fraction, which comprised about one half of the activity in liver. Although most of the enzyme activity was identified with the particulate fractions, most of the free glutamine in liver was found in the soluble fraction.In the microsome fraction, the enzyme was associated with the vesicles, and the ribonucleoprotein particles contained no significant activity. NaCl in concentrations less than that of physiological saline caused solubilization of the enzyme from the vesicles. The evidence indicates that the enzyme was attached to the outer surface of the vesicular membrane in the microsome fraction, and that it was probably attached also to the surface of the nuclear and mitochondrial membranes.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/32274/1/0000336.pd

    Telepraca w obecnych czasach to dynamicznie rozwijająca się forma zatrudnienia, której głównymi założeniami jest wykonywanie obowiązków służbowych z innego miejsca, niż lokalizacja zakładu pracy oraz wykorzystywanie do pracy narzędzi do telekomunikacji. W związku z pandemią COVID-19 w latach 2020-2021 forma zatrudnienia gwałtownie się rozwinęła, a przedsiębiorcy oraz badacze zaczęli zwracać większą uwagę na zalety i wady takiego rodzaju pracy, którą potocznie zaczęto nazywać pracą zdalną. Celem pracy jest przegląd pozytywnych i negatywnych cech telepracy oraz weryfikacja w jaki sposób taka forma zatrudnienia wpływa na psychologiczne aspekty pracy u ogółu pracowników, jak również na ogólne wyniki przedsiębiorstw.Zastosowanymi w pracy metodami jest ankieta przeprowadzona w formie online. Odpowiedzi uzyskane podczas badań pozwalają sklasyfikować telepracę oraz jej wpływ na psychologiczne aspekty zatrudnienia u pracowników. Badanie wykazało stosunek pracowników do pracy zdalnej oraz ich indywidualne odczucia związane z pracą w tym trybie.Nowadays, telework is developing as a form of employment, of which the main assumption is to work remotely from different places other than main business office and which is based on using telecommunication tools for work. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021 this form of employment increased rapidly and the entrepreneurs and scientists have started to pay more attention to such form of work, which colloquially is called remote work. The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to review advantages and disadvantages of remote work and the verification of how such form of employment impacts psychological aspects of work for employees, but also general outcomes of businesses. The form of research used in this research paper is an online survey. The answers obtained during the research allows to qualify telework and its impact on employees. The research has shown an attitude of employees to remote work and their personal feelings related to such form of work
