Resource Allocation for Energy-Efficient Device-to-Device Communication in 4G Networks
Device-to-device (D2D) communications as an underlay of a LTE-A (4G) network
can reduce the traffic load as well as power consumption in cellular networks
by way of utilizing peer-to-peer links for users in proximity of each other.
This would enable other cellular users to increment their traffic, and the
aggregate traffic for all users can be significantly increased without
requiring additional spectrum. However, D2D communications may increase
interference to cellular users (CUs) and force CUs to increase their transmit
power levels in order to maintain their required quality-of-service (QoS). This
paper proposes an energy-efficient resource allocation scheme for D2D
communications as an underlay of a fully loaded LTE-A (4G) cellular network.
Simulations show that the proposed scheme allocates cellular uplink resources
(transmit power and channel) to D2D pairs while maintaining the required QoS
for D2D and cellular users and minimizing the total uplink transmit power for
all users.Comment: 2014 7th International Symposium on Telecommunications (IST'2014
Is the Staple Food Consumed Changes in Diabetics can Affect the Quality of Life? A Parallel Randomized Controlled Trial.
Backgrounds: Diabetes is one of the chronic diseases that need continual medical care and self-care education, as well as nutritional therapy as an integral part of dietary management. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of bulk bread formulated with portulaca oleracea on quality of life (QOL) in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: This parallel randomized controlled trial was conducted on 104 patients with type 2 diabetes. Participants received bulk bread containing 10% portulaca powder for 8 weeks (intervention group); the control group used their normal daily bread. The quality of life score was estimated in both groups by the use of the Short-form 36-Item (SF-36) questionnaire before the intervention, and 8 weeks after dietary intervention, the quality of life score between both groups was compared. The significant level was set at 0.05.
Results: The difference in the mean score of quality of life of the studied units in different dimensions of physical function, role limitation due to physical problems, role limitation due to emotional problems, physical pain, social function, energy and vitality, mental health, general health, and overall quality of life showed that there was a significant difference in the mean in all dimensions and quality of life, except mental health, was observed in the case group after the intervention. The mean difference in quality of life in different dimensions before and after the intervention in the intervention group is significant.
Conclusions: According to the results, it was revealed that consumption bulk bread formulated with portulaca oleracea can promote the quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes. So, it can be concluded that portulaca oleracea as a functional plant can be found in bread as a new treatment and prevention method in patients with diabetes.

Periplasmic expression and one-step purification of urease subunit B of Helicobacter pylori
UreB is one of the urease subunits of Helicobacter pylori and can be used as an excellent antigen candidate for H. pylori vaccination. Easy access to highly purified UreB protein, facilitate advances in therapeutic or preventive strategies. To achieve a simplified purification procedure, the present report represents a novel method of producing recombinant urease subunit B extracellularly. ureB gene from 26,695 standard strain was amplified by PCR and cloned into pET-26b(+) expression vector. UreB was expressed as a soluble, N-terminal pelB and C-terminal hexahistidine-tagged fusion protein (UreB-6His) and secreted into the periplasmic space of Escherichia coli. Expression of the recombinant UreB in E. coli BL21 (DE3) was induced by isopropylthio-β-d-galactoside (IPTG). Expression of UreB was confirmed by sodium dodecyl sulphate–polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS–PAGE) and western blot analysis using anti-His monoclonal antibody. UreB-6His protein was extracted from the periplasm by osmotic shock treatment and was purified in one step by Nickel affinity chromatography. In conclusion, the present protocol is easier to perform; more time effective and low cost than earlier methods. Keywords Helicobacter pylori –Urease subunit B–Cloning–Periplasmic expression

Analysis of good urban governance indicators (Case study: Kahnuj city)
Objective: The theory of good urban governance is a new theory that makes it possible to implement sustainable development in society. The purpose of this study is to investigate the indicators of good governance in Kahnuj city and to try to identify the differences and similarities in the type of view and perception of key stakeholders in the subject of good governance (ie citizens, managers and experts) of governance indicators in Kahnuj. Methods: The research method is quantitative in nature and in terms of descriptive-analytic purpose. The data gathering tool is a researcher-made questionnaire based on Kahnuj city governance indices. Kahnuj is the year that 380 members of the statistical population and 30 managers and experts of Kahnuj city were randomly sampled. Results: The findings of the study indicate that the overall score of the governance index is lower than the average for citizens (2.73) and for experts it is below average (2.86), indicating a low status of urban governance in both groups. Also, surveys showed that out of the seven main indicators of urban governance examined in this study, 70% of them had lower average citizen ratings than experts, and the only two indicators of participation and performance status were the opposite. Findings show that the most disagreement among citizens with managers and experts is in the indicators of transparency, consensus and accountability and the most common among them in the indicators of effectiveness and efficiency.
