    The Relationship between Content Used, Time Spent and Cyberbullying on Social Media with Social Skills

    Based on the past research, there are still limited studies in proving content used on social media, time spent on social media, cyberbullying contributes to the social skills which is deemed unimportant and irrelevant in Malaysia. Therefore, this study is intended to show the variables do have relationship to one another, determining each of the objective in this research is proven to be right. This study applied the Theory of Planned Behaviour as the main theory to fortify and take the relationships at a greater distance between each variable. Quantitative methods were applied in this study and data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires to 181 respondents who were students at Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA pursuing Diploma in Corporate Communication. In addition, the findings showed a significant relationship between content used on social media, time spent on social media, cyberbullying to behaviour and reaction of an individual. Established evidence between variables that are, content used on social media, time spent on social media and cyberbullying is affecting behaviour and reaction of an individual. Hence, this study assisted to the field of communication through the establishment of a more comprehensive variables related to behaviour and reaction of an individual and supported to Planned Behavior Theory

    Research related to message strategies, intention and desire as well as information seeking behavior with participation in training and adoption of innovations have been done in the Western countries. However, there are still very limited studies in proving the variables of message strategies, information seeking behavior, intention and desires are contribute to the participation in training and adoption of innovation in the context of society in Malaysia. Therefore, this study aimed to form a model in describing the relationship between the variables. This research also to identify whether message strategies, information seeking behaviour, intention and desire serve as a predictor in participation in training and adoption of innovations. Quantitative methods were applied in this study. Data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires to 373 respondents who are participants trainees under supervision Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA). This research has shown that message strategies, intentions and desires and information seeking behaviour are an important factors that contributed to the creation of a model of innovation adoption. The study also found significant relationship between that message strategies, intentions and desires, information seeking behaviour with community participation in training and adoption of innovation. It is also found that message strategies, information seeking behaviour and intention and desire serve as a predictor of participation in training and adoption of innovation. Participation in training identified mediating effect on the relationship of message strategies, intentions and desires, information seeking behaviour with the adoption of innovation. Hence, this study contributes to the field of communication through the establishment of a more comprehensive variables related to participation in training and adoption of innovation and help to developed the Planned Behaviour Theory

    Penyertaan masyarakat dalam sesuatu program pembangunan yang dijalankan oleh pihak kerajaan merupakan elemen utama yang menyumbang kepada penerimaan idea inovasi yang dibawa. Dalam memastikan masyarakat menerima idea inovasi yang dibawa dalam kehidupan mereka, faktor strategi dalam menyampaikan maklumat perlu diberikan perhatian umumnya oleh agen pembangunan yang dilantik oleh pihak kerajaan. Tujuan kajian ini dijalankan untuk (i) meneliti hubungan di antara strategi mesej dengan penyertaan dalam latihan dan (ii) mengenalpasti hubungan di antara strategi mesej dengan adopsi inovasi dalam kalangan peserta latihan. Kajian ini melibatkan seramai 373 orang responden yang terdiri daripada peserta latihan anjuran MARA di Terengganu, dan memfokuskan kepada program latihan keusahawanan yang berasaskan Teknologi Komunikasi dan Maklumat (ICT) berasaskan kepada penggunaan laman web. Kajian ini merupakan kajian kuantitatif melalui pengedaran soalselidik kepada responden yang terlibat. Kajian ini dijalankan di MARA Terengganu. Dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan di antara strategi mesej dengan penyertaan dalam latihan yang dianjurkan oleh pihak MARA. Selain itu dapatan turut menjelaskan bahawa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan di antara strategi mesej dengan adopsi inovasi

    An Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA): Analysis of message strategy instrument validity

    Message strategy is a collection, compilation and dissemination of ideas, issues and information by taking into consideration the basics of communication skills in the execution process. In the context of development, the dissemination of information by agents of development is unclear and ambiguous which this results in the information being misunderstood by the public, especially when it involves a diversity of the publics’ backgrounds. The lack of communication strategy arrangements by the development agents has caused the informationto be delayed or probably truncated for the public to accept. This paper explains the process included in identifying the items that are related to message strategy in the context of community development. The validation of the items involved two methods;content validity and factor analysis. The analysis of content validity proved that all of the items of message strategy adopted from the previous researchers in the context of development were accepted via Analysis of the Content Validity Index (CVI). In addition, factor analysis also discovered that items were extracted according to the factor as adopted from the previous instrument. Both analyses concluded that the items of message strategy which were adopted for this study in the context of community development were accepted

    Faktor niat keinginan merupakan faktor yang menyumbang kepada penyertaan dalam latihan.Walau bagaimanapun, kajian-kajian lepas telah membuktikan bahawa masih kurang kajian yang membuktikan bahawa niat dan keinginan menjadi faktor penyumbang kepada penyertaan, Oleh yang demikian, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti hubungan di antara niat dan keinginan dengan penyertaan dalam latihan.Kajian ini mengaplikasikan kaedah kuantitatif melalui kaedah tinjauan dengan menggunakan soal selidik. Responden yang terlibat dalam kajian ini terdiri daripada peserta latihan keusahawanan ICT yang dianjurkan oleh pihak MARA di Terengganu. Seramai 373 responden yang terlibat bagi tujuan kajian ini. Dapatan kajian mendapati terdapat hubungan yang signifikan di antara niat dan keinginan dengan penyertaan dalam latihan.Secara keseluruhannya kajian menyumbang kepada bidang komunikasi melalui pembentukan pemboleh ubah yang lebih komprehensif berkaitan dengan penyertaan dalam latihan dan membantu memperkembangkan lagi teori dengan kepelbagaian isu berkaitan

    Faktor-Faktor Penyertaan Masyarakat Dalam Medan Infodesa (MID): Kajian di Wilayah Kemajuan Terengganu Tengah

    The aim of this study was to identify whether there is a relationship between communication skills, personality and innovative characteristics with community participation in Medan Infodesa (MID). This study was conducted in MID which is located in the Lembaga Kemajuan Terengganu Tengah (KETENGAH) area. This study utilized quantitative method through the usage of a questionnaire. Three hundred and sixteen respondents were involved in this study. The questionnaire comprised of five parts; demographic details of respondents, communication skills, personality, innovation characteristics and community participation in MID. Questionnaire used in this study was adapted from previous studies. A Likert scale questionnaire which consists of four instruments namely the Communication Skills Instrument, Big Five Personality Scale, Innovation Characteristics of New Technologies and Participation Instrument in Information Communication Technology (ICT) Programme was used in this study. Statistics analysis of Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient (r), Analysis of Variance (One Way ANOVA), t-Test and Multiple Regression were used to analyze the data. The findings indicated that there was a significant relationship between communication skills with community participation in MID. The findings also showed that there was a significant relationship between personality with community participation in MID. Further, the findings also showed that there was a significant relationship between innovative characteristics with community participation in MID. Besides, it was found that there was no significant difference in community participation in relation to gender and age. However, there was a significant difference in the level of community participation in MID and the level of education. Multiple Regression analysis identified the main predictor for the level of community participation in MID was innovative characteristics. The implication of this study showed that KETENGAH need to create courses to improve communication skills and to develop better personality. At the same time, it should be made known to the society that innovative characteristics can contribute to community participation in the MID

    Komunikasi memainkan peranan yang penting dalam sesebuah organisasi. Kepentingan peranan komunikasi ini jelas sebagai penyalur dan perkongsian maklumat antara ahli keluarga, pendidikan, hiburan, dan sebagainya yang menjadi wadah kepada proses sosialisasi serta pendidikan yang dilalui oleh seseorang kanak-kanak hinggalah membawa kepada beliau menjadi seorang dewasa. Salah satu elemen penting dewasa ini yang turut berperanan dalam hubungan anak-ibu bapa ialah media sosial terutamanya penggunaan Facebook. Sehubungan itu, kertas kerja ini membincangkan tentang pola penggunaan Facebook dalam kalangan ibu bapa bagi tujuan berhubung dengan anak-anak. Kaedah penyelidikan yang digunakan dalam kajian ini ialah temu bual berstruktur dengan ibu bapa yang mempunyai laman sosial Facebook. Data dianalisis menggunakan perisian Nvivo. Hasil analisis mencerminkan beberapa kategori penggunaan laman sosial dalam kalangan ibu bapa iaitu untuk tujuan mengikuti perkembangan semasa, berhubung dengan ahli keluarga, mengeratkan silaturahim, pekerjaan, akademik dan lain-lain. Rata-ratanya responden merasakan bahawa mereka merasa gembira menggunakan laman sosial berkenaan di samping memperolehi maklumat semasa. Dalam konteks perhubungan dengan anak-anak, terdapat sebahagian responden yang mengakui bahawa media sosial berpontesi menjadi pemantau aktiviti anak-anak.
