Preferred Molecular Orientation of Coumarin 343 on TiO2 Surfaces: Application to Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells.
The dye···TiO2 interfacial structure in working electrodes of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) is known to influence its photovoltaic device performance. Despite this, direct and quantitative reports of such structure remain sparse. This case study presents the application of X-ray reflectometry to determine the preferred structural orientation and molecular packing of the organic dye, Coumarin 343, adsorbed onto amorphous TiO2. Results show that the dye molecules are, on average, tilted by 61.1° relative to the TiO2 surface, and are separated from each other by 8.2 Å. These findings emulate the molecular packing arrangement of a monolayer of Coumarin 343 within its crystal structure. This suggests that the dye adsorbs onto TiO2 in one of its lowest energy configurations; that is, dye···TiO2 self-assembly is driven more by thermodynamic rather than kinetic means. Complementary DSC device tests illustrate that this interfacial structure compromises photovoltaic performance, unless a suitably sized coadsorbant is interdispersed between the Coumarin 343 chromophores on the TiO2 surface.J. The Great Recession that officially began in December 2007 and ended in June 2009 significantly impacted the quality of life for many US families. Jobs were permanently lost, homes were foreclosed, and personal savings were depleted. This caused many families to seek aid from nonprofit organizations. As the demand for nonprofit services rose, many nonprofit organization\u27s revenues and resources declined.
A case study of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit was conducted using open ended survey questions to learn how the YMCA, which resided in one of the hardest hit regions survived. The study revealed that the YMCA, assessed its environment and promptly enacted several cost saving measures, coupled with strategic investments in education, childcare, personal training, senior wellness and youth employment.
In summary, the YMCA renewed its mission focus, efficiently allocated its resources and operated with integrity. The YMCA kept its promises to clients and creditors; ultimately strengthening its reputation

Practitioner Experiences of Forest School
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the situated subjectivities of the experiences of
Forest School (FS) practitioners, in their journeys from training to initial practice.
The research explores the impact of FS training, environmental and socio-cultural
influences upon the practitioners and how their practices adapt in context. Eight in-depth
case studies of FS trainee practitioners were undertaken over a period of two years
(2010-12) using multiple qualitative methods. The analysis is in three parts; on practitioner
identities, approaches and contexts. The thesis contributes three new conceptual models to
outdoor pedagogical research. The concept of eco-social identity frames the ongoing
construction of self. The FS adult role is theorised as a connector, engaged in dynamic role
processes. The analysis of practitioner approaches in context uses Shared Space; an
ecosystemic frame of practice and agency. Further analysis of practitioners’ experience of
team contexts draws on theoretical lenses on role, socialisation and norms from Goffman
and Foucault. Team relationships became positioned in either conflict, collaboration or
congruence. The study contributes new insights into the impact of FS training and the
influence of socialisation and subjectivity in the application of outdoor pedagogy. Early
life experience, nature-society relations, and passionate purpose motivated the
practitioners. Adult-to-adult interaction affected practice outcomes significantly, with
strong disparities in setting teams regarding values and ethos, team interest, controls and
standards in setting practices, curriculum pressures, setting aims, and site provision and
care. The results imply that collaborative partnership and a whole team approach are
effective strategies for ongoing practice, and tokenistic practice is a destructive strategy
The Quest for Excellence
These remarks were addressed to the Honors Convocation at The University of Michigan in spring of 1982. In speaking to those students who have excelled academically, Judge McCree stressed the vital importance of such accomplishments to our nation. Public institutions which foster superior achievements play a crucial role, he said, in America\u27s realization of democratic ideals.
Judge McCree, who served as solicitor general of the United States after having sat on the federal appellate bench, joined the law faculty at Michigan fall of 1981
