This is a copy of the author's final draft version of an article published in the journal Soft computing. The reliability of peers is very important for safe communication in peer-to-peer (P2P) systems. The reliability of a peer can be evaluated based on the reputation and interactions with other peers to provide different services. However, for deciding the peer reliability there are needed many parameters, which make the problem NP-hard. In this paper, we present two fuzzy-based systems (called FBRS1 and FBRS2) to improve the reliability of JXTA-overlay P2P platform. In FBRS1, we considered three input parameters: number of interactions (NI), security (S), packet loss (PL) to decide the peer reliability (PR). In FBRS2, we considered four input parameters: NI, S, PL and local score to decide the PR. We compare the proposed systems by computer simulations. Comparing the complexity of FBRS1 and FBRS2, the FBRS2 is more complex than FBRS1. However, it also considers the local score, which makes it more reliable than FBRS1.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

In our system, we considered four input parameters: Data Download Speed (DDS), Local Score (LS), Number of Interactions (NI) and Sustained Communication Time (SCT) to decide the Peer Reliability (PR). We evaluate the proposed system by computer simulations. The simulation results have shown that the proposed system has a good performance and can choose reliable peers to connect in JXTA-Overlay platform.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Photonic-crystal nano-photodetector with ultrasmall capacitance for on-chip light-to-voltage conversion without an amplifier

    Get PDF
The power consumption of a conventional photoreceiver is dominated by that of the electric amplifier connected to the photodetector (PD). An ultralow-capacitance PD can overcome this limitation, because it can generate sufficiently large voltage without an amplifier when combined with a high-impedance load. In this work, we demonstrate an ultracompact InGaAs PD based on a photonic crystal waveguide with a length of only 1.7 μm and a capacitance of less than 1 fF. Despite the small size of the device, a high responsivity of 1 A/W and a clear 40 Gbit/s eye diagram are observed, overcoming the conventional trade-off between size and responsivity. A resistor-loaded PD was actually fabricated for light-to-voltage conversion, and a kilo-volt/watt efficiency with a gigahertz bandwidth even without amplifiers was measured with an electro-optic probe. Combined experimental and theoretical results reveal that a bandwidth in excess of 10 GHz can be expected, leading to an ultralow energy consumption of less than 1 fJ/bit for the photoreceiver. Amplifier-less PDs with attractive performance levels are therefore feasible and a step toward a densely integrated photonic network/processor on a chip

Antroduodenal coordinated contractions as studied by chemical ablation of myenteric neurons in the gastroduodenal junctional zone.

Antroduodenal contractions were studied in rat preparations. Augmented duodenal contractions occurred spontaneously in coordination with antral contractions in normal and saline-pretreated preparations. The coordination did not occur when muscle layers and the myenteric plexus were transversely cut at the duodenum just anal to the gastroduodenal junction. In silent preparations, the coordinated contractions were produced by neostigmine or domperidone. When the antroduodenal junctional zone was pretreated with benzalkonium chloride, the augmented duodenal contractions did not occur spontaneously, and even after administration of neostigmine and domperidone although antral contractions occurred spontaneously. In these preparations, there were notably few myenteric neurons in the junctional zone, but the neurons were distributed normally in the areas where motility was recorded. The results suggest that myenteric neurons mediate antroduodenal coordinated contractions and that the coordination is modified by myenteric cholinergic excitatory and dopaminergic inhibitory pathways.</p

Intrinsic reflexes mediated via peptidergic neurons in the smooth muscle esophagus of the hen.

In the extrinsically denervated smooth muscle esophagus of the hen anesthetized with urethane (1 g/kg, i. m.), it was studied whether peptidergic neurons in the intramural plexus are involved in the intrinsic reflex. Ascending and descending contractions, and descending relaxation were induced by electrical stimulation of a narrow segment of the esophagus. Naloxone (1 microM), desensitization to substance P (0.3 microM) and spantide (20 microM) inhibited the ascending and descending contractions, respectively. The degree of the inhibition of the contractile response by a combination of naloxone and substance P was nearly the same as that by a single administration of naloxone or substance P. The ascending and descending contractions were reduced to one-third of the control by hexamethonium (100 microM) and abolished by atropine (10 microM). The descending relaxation was abolished after desensitization to vasoactive intestinal peptide (0.3 microM). Taken together the results suggest that in the hen's esophagus, opioid- and substance P-containing neurons in the intramural plexus may act as preganglionic neurons of cholinergic motor neurons in the ascending and descending excitatory pathways and that vasoactive intestinal peptide-containing neurons are involved in the descending inhibitory pathway.</p

Weldability of Nickel-Free Austenitic Stainless Steel Thin Sheet by Small-Scale Resistance Spot Welding

The feasibility and microstructural development of high-nitrogen-containing nickel-free austenitic stainless steel by small-scale resistance spot welding were studied. Almost fully austenitic cellular microstructure was developed in weld nuggets because the cooling rate of approximately 10 5 Ks À1 was much faster than that in conventional fusion welding processes. Only a small amount of delta ferrite was formed at the gamma grain boundary in the weld, and chromium nitride precipitation was observed both in the gamma grains and at the grain boundary. No significant defects and sensitization were observed in the weld nugget and in the heat affected zone, respectively, and an adequate joint strength was obtained
