Electrostatic and Topological Features as Predictors of Antifungal Potential of Oxazolo Derivatives as Promising Compounds in Treatment of Infections Caused by Candida albicans
The results presented in this study include the prediction of the antifungal activity of 24 oxazolo derivatives based on their topological and electrostatic molecular descriptors, derived from the 2D molecular structures. The artificial neural network (ANN) method was applied as a regression tool. The input data for ANN modeling were selected by stepwise selection (SS) procedure. The ANN modeling resulted in three networks with the outstanding statistical characteristics. High predictivity of the established networks was confirmed by comparisons of the predicted and experimental data and by the residuals analysis. The obtained results indicate the usefulness of the formed ANNs in precise prediction of minimum inhibitory concentrations of the analyzed compounds towards Candida albicans. The Sum of Ranking Differences (SRD) method was used in this study to reveal possible grouping of the compounds in the space of the variables used in ANN modeling. The obtained results can be considered to be a contribution to development of new antifungal drugs structurally based on oxazole core, particularly nowadays when there is a lack of highly efficient antimycotics

Discrete resonant absorption in molecular nanofilms
We have analysed the significant different optical absorption of molecular nanofilm crystalline formations. The main reason for this behaviour is in the existence of boundaries on the film structures and we needed to investigate these properties theoretically. In this process, we have done some combinations of (where possible) analytical calculations and (in other cases) numerical calculations. We have calculated the allowed energies of exciton (quasi)particles, and their appearance in nanofilms but in particular direction - perpendicular to the surface of the film. We have analysed why surface exciton localization appears in a film, and after that we calculated dielectric permittivity and optical indices (absorption and refraction). We have established that boundary parameters greatly influence optical phenomena. This influence is resonant, i.e. frequency-related and selectable (depends on what layer is calculated). We even found some particular conditions for the appearance of one (single) absorption line

Nakon osnivanja AnalitiÄke sekcije na XXVIII. simpoziju mljekarske industrije 1990. godine ukazala se potreba proÅ”irenja spoznaja ili obnova znanja iz primjene statistiÄkih metoda u interpretaciji rezultata analiza pri provjeri kakvoÄe mlijeka i mlijeÄnih proizvoda. 1. UtvrÄivanje sluÄajnih pogreÅ”aka u rezultatima analiza - Prvi dio rada sadrži nekoliko praktiÄnih primjera utvrÄivanja sluÄajne pogreÅ”ke rezultata analiza kad se rezultati izražavaju kao kontinuirane ili diskretne veliÄine mjerenja. 2. ProraÄun sluÄajne pogreÅ”ke rezultata analiza izraženih diskretnim veliÄinama - Navode se 4 numeriÄka primjera iz analitiÄke prakse. Provjereno je utvrÄivanje nepropusnosti materijala u koji je spremljeno pasterizirano mlijeko, utvrÄivanje granica vjerojatnosti pojave Å”karta u sluÄaju kad vrijedi Poissonova i binomna razdioba. 3. Usporedba rezultata analiza sastava i kvalitete u industrijskoj preradi - U treÄem se dijelu na praktiÄnim primjerima usporeÄuju rezultati razliÄitih analiza, rezultati analiza diskretnih veliÄina i odreÄuju optimalne veliÄine uzoraka pri provedbi analizaOn the 28 Symposium of the Milk Industry (1990) the Analytical section was established, and necessity appeared to extend or renew the state of knowing applied statistical methods and interpretation of experimental data in relation to quality control of milk and dairy products. 1. Determination of random errors relative to analytical data - First part of paper involves some practical examples for determination of random error, when results are expressed as continuous or discrete values. 2. Calculation of random errors of analytical data expressed as discrete values -Four examples from analytical usage are given. Accuracy is examined of analytical determination of pasteurized milk container\u27s air-hight\u27 ness and determination of confidence intervals computed following Poisson and binomial distribution. 3. Comparison of analytical data relative to constituents and product\u27s quality - Third part deals with values of parameters and comparison is made of experimental data from several treatments, as well as results of discrete values. Optimal sample size is determined
