    Get PDF
This paper acts as a guide to the presentation titled "Value of Manure as a Fertilizer."An often asked question is "what is the price of manure?" This question is difficult to answer because price is determined by markets. In the absence of markets for manure, its price is unknown. 2016 custom rates for farm services in Missouri (2017)

    Get PDF
GuideThe rates reported in this guide are based on a statewide survey conducted by mail in the winter of 2017. Farmers, agribusiness firms, aerial applicators and land improvement contractors responded to questions on the rates they were charging or paying in 2016 for custom services, excluding the cost of materials being applied. There is no assurance that the average rates reported in this guide will cover your costs for performing the service or that you will be able to hire a custom operator in your area for the rates shown. Calculate your own costs carefully before deciding the rate to charge or pay. Before entering into an agreement, discuss with the other party all the details of the specific job to be performed

Use and Perceptions of Precision Agriculture Technologies

    Get PDF
Includes bibliographical references.Use of precision agriculture (PA technologies has increased with advances in technologies and increased farmer awareness of PA's usefulness and potential profitability. Many farmers and agribusinesses are still uncertain about the wisdom of adopting PA technologies. More information on use, costs and benefits of PA technologies is needed by producers, agribusinesses, consultants, and extension personnel making decisions about adoption of PA. In December 1999 an attempt was made to gather some of this information by conducting a survey of persons attending the Ag Crop Management Conference sponsored by the University of Missouri. Attendees of this conference were professional chemical applicators, managers, consultants, and seed and chemical dealers. Seventy-five usable surveys were returned, representing 22% of conference attendees

    Farming with one tractor (1997)

    Get PDF
Although few farms claim only one tractor in their machinery inventory, it is possible to choose, equip and schedule a single tractor to accomplish all of the field work on a farm. Even though most tractors have a flexible design suitable for a wide range of tasks, farmers often keep a variety of tractors on hand to accomplish specific tasks. Large tractors are most often used for primary and secondary tillage. A small tractor may be used for utility chores, mowing, and light hauling. Intermediate-sized tractors are often used for the widest range of tasks including some primary tillage, secondary tillage, planting, mowing and hauling
