Bovine adenovirus type 3.induced tumor was transplanted subcutaneously through 25 generations in hamsters. Histological character of the tumors showed no basic differences from the primary one through all generations. There appeared metastatic foci in the lung, liver, kidney and lymph nodes in some animals.</p

Formulation of Single Event Burnout Failure Rate for High Voltage Devices in Satellite Electrical Power System

    Get PDF
Single-Event Burnout (SEB) is a catastrophic failure in the high voltage devices that is initiated by the passage of particles during turn-off state. Previous papers reported that SEB failure rate increases sharply when applied voltage exceeds a certain threshold voltage. On the other hand, the high voltage devices for the artificial satellite have been increasing. In space, due to increase flux of particle, it is predicted that SEB failure rate will be higher. In this paper, we proposed the failure rate calculation method for high voltage devices based on SEB cross section and flux of particles. This formula can calculate the failure rate at space level and terrestrial level depending on the applied voltage of the high voltage devices.2017 29th International Symposium on Power Semiconductor Devices and IC\u27s (ISPSD), May 28 2017-June 1 2017, Sapporo, Japa

Dihydroxylation of Naphthalene by Molecular Oxygen and Water Using TiO2 Photocatalysts

    Get PDF
TiO2-catalyzed photo-reaction of naphthalene was investigated in mixed solutions of acetonitrile and water. The main products were confirmed to be 1,8- and 1,3-dihydroxynaphthalene, without any 1- or 2-naphthol being detected. Both O2 and H2O were essential to yield the products. The quantum efficiency of the 1,8- and 1,3-dihydroxynaphthalene products reached about 10% at 365 nm after irradiated for 1 h

Asymptotic density of states in 2d CFTs with non-invertible symmetries

It is known that the asymptotic density of states of a 2d CFT in an irreducible representation ρ\rho of a finite symmetry group GG is proportional to (dimρ)2(\dim\rho)^2. We show how this statement can be generalized when the symmetry can be non-invertible and is described by a fusion category C\mathcal{C}. Along the way, we explain what plays the role of a representation of a group in the case of a fusion category symmetry; the answer to this question is already available in the broader mathematical physics literature but not yet widely known in hep-th. This understanding immediately implies a selection rule on the correlation functions, and also allows us to derive the asymptotic density.Comment: 42 pages; v2: minor revisio

Analysis of Reactive Oxygen Metabolites (ROMs) after Cardiovascular Surgery as a Marker of Oxidative Stress

The transient systemic low perfusion that occurs during cardiovascular surgery leads to oxidative stress and the production of free radicals. A systemic increase of various markers of oxidative stress has been shown to occur during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). However, these markers have not been adequately evaluated because they seem to be reactive and short-lived. Here, oxidative stress was measured using the free radical analytical system (FRAS 4) assessing the derivatives of reactive oxygen metabolites (d-ROMs) and biological antioxidant potential (BAP). Blood samples were taken from 21 patients undergoing elective cardiovascular surgery. CPB was used in 15 patients, and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) surgery without CPB was performed in 6. Measurements of d-ROMs and BAP were taken before surgery, 1 day, 1 week, and 2 weeks after surgery, and oxidative stress was evaluated. The d-ROM level increased gradually after cardiovascular surgery up to 2 weeks. Over time, the d-ROM level after surgery involving CPB became higher than that after AAA surgery. This difference reached statistical significance at 1 week and lasted to 2 weeks. The prolongation of CPB was prone to elevate the d-ROM level whereas the duration of the aortic clamp in AAA surgery had no relation to the d-ROM level. The BAP was also elevated after surgery, and was positively correlated with the level of d-ROMs. In this study, patients who underwent cardiovascular surgery involving CPB had significant oxidative damage. The production of ROMs was shown to depend on the duration of CPB. Damage can be reduced if CPB is avoided. When CPB must be used, shortening the CPB time may be effective in reducing oxidative stress

    クリオ上清中の高分子VWFマルチマー非結合型ADAMTS13の存在:血栓性血小板減少性紫斑病の治療に、より効果的な血漿分画製剤の選択

BACKGROUND: Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is characterized by deficient ADAMTS13 activity. Treatment involves plasma exchange (PE). Both fresh-frozen plasma (FFP) and cryosupernatant (CSP) are used, but it remains to be determined which is more effective. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: To analyze the interaction between von Willebrand factor (VWF) and ADAMTS13, we used large-pore isoelectric focusing (IEF) analysis followed by detection with anti-ADAMTS13 monoclonal antibody. FFP, CSP, cryoprecipitate (CP), and purified ADAMTS13 were analyzed for their effects on high shear stress-induced platelet aggregation (H-SIPA). RESULTS: IEF analysis of normal plasma revealed three groups of ADAMTS13 bands with pI of 4.9 to 5.6, 5.8 to 6.7, and 7.0 or 7.5. Two band groups (pI 4.9-5.6 and 5.8-6.7) were found in plasma of a patient with Type 3 von Willebrand disease, in which VWF is absent, whereas no bands were found in plasma of a patient with congenital ADAMTS13 deficiency. Mixing these plasmas generated the bands at pI 7.0 or 7.5, representing the VWF-ADAMTS13 complex; these bands were absent in CSP. FFP and purified ADAMTS13 down regulated H-SIPA in a dose-dependent manner. However, CP did not inhibit H-SIPA in the initial phase, and the degree of inhibition at the endpoint was almost indistinguishable from those of the other two plasma products. CONCLUSION: Both plasma products (FFP and CSP) are effective for PE in TTP patients. However, CSP may be more favorable, because it has lower levels of VWF and almost normal ADAMTS13 activity, but lower levels of ADAMTS13 in complex with larger VWF multimers.博士(医学)・乙第1322号・平成25年11月27日© 2013 American Association of Blood BanksCopyright © 1999-2018 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Status of Acute Stroke Practice in Patients with a Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device

Although diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for acute stroke patients in Japan depend largely on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED) must still rely on com-puted tomography (CT). We retrospectively analyzed clinical and neuroimaging data of ischemic stroke patients with CIED treated at our hospital. Forty-five patients were enrolled in the study. Patients were divided into two groups according to whether corresponding lesions were detected (group A, n = 21) or not detected (group B, n = 24) by the first brain CT. We also evaluated in detail the clinical courses of patients who arrived at hospital within therapeutic time windows for recanalization therapy. Negative fresh infarct in the first CT was associated, though not significantly, with early onset-to-arrival time and subcortical white matter infarction. Five patients did not undergo recanalization therapy because their families did not agree to the procedure. The reasons for their lack of consent included inadequate information about the safety and efficacy of recanalization therapy because MRI could not be performed. Our study confirmed delayed detection of the corresponding lesion and undertreatment for acute stroke in patients with CIED
