    Correlation of Stress Coping Strategies and Social Compromise with Empowerment through Cognitive Emotion Regulation Mediation in Head-of-Household Women

    Background: Social compromise is one of the principal components of mental health in head-of-household women. Empowerment and promotion of cognitive emotion regulation are critical in social compromise. The present study aimed to investigate the correlation between stress coping strategies and social compromise with empowerment through the mediation role of cognitive emotion regulation in head-of-household women.Methods: In this descriptive and correlational study, the statistical population comprises all head-of-household women in Yasuj, Iran in 2021, of whom 258 were selected through convenient sampling. The research instruments included the Psychological Empowerment Scale, the Adjustment Inventory, Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations, and the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the statistical correlation method and structural equation modeling in SPSS and AMOS version 25.Results: The mean and standard deviation of social compromise, problem-focused strategies, emotion-focused strategies, avoidance strategies, adaptive emotion regulation, maladaptive emotion regulation, and empowerment were 14.22±4.60,16.11±4.71, 22.02±5.16, 23.65±4.88, 25.35±10.19, 20.34±8.14, and 39.25±10.84, respectively. The results showed a significant correlation between stress-coping strategies and social compromise with empowerment (P<0.001). Furthermore, the correlation between stress coping strategies and social compromise with empowerment was significant through the mediation of cognitive emotion regulation (P<0.001). The results showed that the final model fit well (CFI=0.99, RMSEA=0.028).Conclusion: The proposed model had a desirable fitting. The head-of-household women who have social compromise when facing problems can deal with the stress caused by problems through sympathy and consulting with others, as well as using stress coping strategies, and as a result of this empowerment, they enjoy sufficient mental health

    Effect of 670 Nm Laser Beam on the Action Potentials of Sural Nerve in Healthy Individuals

    Introduction: Low Level Laser (LLL) is being used in physiotherapy for pain relief in various pathologies and particularly on peripheral nerve entrapments. In the present study, the effect of LLL on the electrophysiological parameters of sural in humans was investigated. The results might be used as a basis for further clinical research in abnormal conditions. Methods and Materials: Thirty-eight normal men voluntarily participated in the current study and 670 nm LLL beam was applied to the left sural nerve at 5 points for 10 sessions. The electrophysiological parameters such as onset latency, peak latency, negative peak amplitude, peak to peak amplitude, and duration were measured before and after the application of LLL (0.5, 1.5 &amp; 2.5 J/cm² energy density). Results: Overall, 670 nm laser beam increased the latency and reduced the nerve conduction velocity (NCV). In addition, LLL beam decreased the amplitude of action potentials. Among the various values of energy densities, application of 2.5 J/cm² had the most effective results (P &lt; 0.001). Conclusion: These results might suggest that 670 nm laser beam could affect the latency and reduce the NCV in sural nerve of human. Probably, LLL affects the bioelectric and bioenergetic properties of the neural biomembrane. These findings might have clinical signlificance in non-surgical treatment of entrapment syndromes, such as carpal, tarsal syndromes and trigeminal entrapment in human. Further investigations are needed to elucidate the effects of LLL beam on the human peripheral nerves in pathological conditions.Keywords: Low-level laser, Sural nerve, Electrophysiology, Pai

    The Effect of Perceptual – Motor Experience on Motor Development Quotient of Fine and Gross Motor Skills in 5-8-Month-Old Infants

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of perceptual – motor experience on motor development quotient of fine and gross motor skills in infants. Fifteen 5-8-month-old healthy infants participated randomly in this study and were divided homogenously into two groups (experimental and control) according to their age. Experimental group had 36 training sessions, each session an hour at a perceptual – motor enriched environment. Peabody motor development scale was used to evaluate fine and gross motor skills. Data were analyzed by independent t test. Results indicated a significant difference in mean score of motor development quotient between fine motor skills (p=0.004) and gross motor skills (p=0.02). These findings showed that training and experience had a positive effect on motor development generally and on motor development quotient of fine and gross motor skills specifically. In other words, training and experience were positive factors of fundamental and basic motor skills development of the infants in both groups. These results are in line with the perspective of dynamic systems of motor development

    Effect of anthraquinone on NSSC pupling of P.deltoides

    This research was performed to improve the properties of the pulp made of Aspen Deltoides, using antraquinone(AQ) catalizer. Neutral sulfite semichemical (NSSC) method in three efficiency levels of 55, 60, and 65% was applied. Cooking situations was selected as: Specific Temperature (175Ëš C) , Time (Variable) , Specific Percentage of Chemicals 14% and Anthraquinone 0.1% . In all stages of cooking, weight ratio of sodium sulfide to sodium bicarbonate was set as 4.5/1. The ratio of cooking liquid to chips was 5/1. The results indicated that AQ causes an increase in efficiency and a significant decrease in Kappa. Researches also indicated that by the use of AQ, strength indexes of the paper such as strength of burst, tearing, tensile, Ring Crush Test and Corrugating Medium Test increases. Optical experiments on hand sheets following addition of AQ, indicated increase in brightness and decrease in opacity

    The Relationship of Social Support and Psychological Capital with Empowerment of Female Heads of Households: The Mediating Role of Cognitive Emotion Regulation

    Background: Female heads of households (FHHs) experience more anxiety and stress which result in many mood swings that can affect their belief in their capabilities and decrease the feeling of enjoyment of life. Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between social support and psychological capital with the empowerment of female heads of households through the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation. Materials & Methods: The current descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on all female heads of households referring to Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation and the Welfare Department of Yasuj city, of whom, 250 were selected as the sample using convenience sampling method. The psychological empowerment instrument, the psychological capital questionnaire, the multidimensional scale of perceived social support, and the cognitive emotion regulation Questionnaire (short form) were used to collect data. Data were then analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and path analysis in SPSS and AMOS 25. Results: The results showed that there was a positive correlation between empowerment and social support (r=0.29), psychological capital (r=0.44), and adaptive emotion regulation (r=0.36). Moreover, there was a negative correlation between empowerment and maladaptive emotion regulation (r=-0.35). The results showed that the indirect correlation of social support and psychological capital with the empowerment of the FHHs was significant through the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation (P<0.001). Conclusions: The proposed model had a good fit. Empowering FHHs and improving their social support and psychological capital will enable them to deal with stress resulting from daily problems

    Application of UV/TiO2/H2O2 Advanced Oxidation to Remove Naphthalene from Water

    Naphthalene is released into the environment by burning such organic materials as fossil fuels and wood and in industrial and vehicle exhaust emissions. Naphthalene is used in the manufacture of plastics, resins, fuels, and dyes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of UV/TiO2/H2O2 process to decompose naphthalene in aqueous solutions. For this purpose, the photocatalytic degradation of naphthalene was investigated under UV light irradiation in the presence of TiO2 and H2O2 under a variety of conditions. Photodegradation efficiencies of H2O2/UV, TiO2/UV, and H2O2/TiO2/UV processes were compared in a batch reactor using the low pressure mercury lamp irradiation. The effects of operating parameters such as reaction time (min); solution pH; and initial naphthalene, TiO2, and H2O2 concentrations on photodegradation were examined. In the UV/TiO2/H2O2 system with a naphthalene concentration of 15 mg/L, naphthalene removal efficiencies of 63, 75, 80, 88, 92, 95, 96.5, and 98% were achieved, respectively, for reaction times of 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 100 and 120 min. This is while removal efficienciesof 50, 59.5, 69, 80, 85, 88, 91, and 95% were obtained in the UV/TiO2 system under the same conditions. For initial pH values of 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,9, 10, and 12, naphthalene removal efficiencies of approximately 96.8, 85.5, 86, 75.5, 68.8, 57.8, and 52.5% were acheived, respectively, with the UV/TiO2/H2O2 system. Thus, it may be claiomed that, compared to either H2O2/UV or TiO2/UV process, the H2O2/TiO2/UV process yielded a far more efficient photodegradation
