The Place of the MihanoviÄ Psalter in the Fourteenth-Century Revisions of the Church Slavonic Psalter
Modern scholarship on the textual history of Church Slavonic biblical translation recognizesĀ two distinct revisions of the Church Slavonic Psalter from the early fourteenth century, Redaction IIIĀ (sometimes called the āAthoniteā redaction) and Redaction IV, known only in the Norov psalter manuscript.Ā Although they are both attested from the same period and in manuscripts of similar BulgarianĀ provenance, these two redactions are in some respects systematically different in their linguistic character,Ā their approach to translational issues and their Greek textual basis. In the light of A.A. TurilovāsĀ observation that the MihanoviÄ Psalter, possibly the earliest witness to Redaction III, is written in theĀ same hand as the greater part of the Norov Psalter, this paper examines the textual antecedents of theĀ two redactions and the importance of the MihanoviÄ Psalter as a link between them

The impact of social identity and cultural capital on different ethnic student groups at university
This research examines the experience of students from different student groups in higher education in Britain, asking the following questions:
Is there any effect of different āUniversity Culturesā on studentsā experience of higher education?
How do different groups of students understand the concept of ābelongingā and āidentityā within a University?
Do different student groups have different expectations and experiences of higher education?
The research will draw on a range of social theories such as Social Capital, Cosmopolitanisation, Identity and Belonging and Mobility, assessing their relevance to the experience of different ethnic students in higher education (HE). Three HE institutions will participate in this project; a large comprehensive University, a campus based old University and a specialist college. A variety of quantitative and qualitative methods will be employed to maximise the breadth and depth of information gathered. Data collection will include a large scale questionnaire, focus groups and educational life history interviews with students from three differing institutions. Outcomes will inform the national debate about degree outcomes for different student groups and satisfaction levels between some student groups
Prospective study of family adversity and maladaptive parenting in childhood and borderline personality disorder symptoms in a non-clinical population at 11 years
Background Retrospective studies have consistently indicated an association between maladaptive parenting and borderline personality disorder (BPD). This requires corroboration with prospective, longitudinal designs. We investigated the association between suboptimal parenting and parent conflict in childhood and BPD symptoms in late childhood using a prospective sample.
Method A community sample of 6050 mothers and their children (born between April 1991 and December 1992) were assessed. Mothers' family adversity was assessed during pregnancy and parenting behaviours such as hitting, shouting, hostility and parent conflict across childhood. Intelligence quotient (IQ) and DSM-IV Axis I diagnoses were assessed at 7ā8 years. Trained psychologists interviewed children at 11 years (mean age 11.74 years) to ascertain BPD symptoms.
Results After adjustment for confounders, family adversity in pregnancy predicted BPD probable 1 to 2 adversities: odds ratio (OR)=1.34 [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.01ā1.77]; >2 adversities: OR 1.99 (95% CI 1.34ā2.94) and definite 1 to 2 adversities: OR 2.48 (95% CI 1.01ā6.08) symptoms. Each point increase in the suboptimal parenting index predicted BPD probable: OR 1.13 (95% CI 1.05ā1.23) and definite: OR 1.28 (95% CI 1.03ā1.60) symptoms. Parent conflict predicted BPD probable: OR 1.19 (95% CI 1.06ā1.34) and definite: OR 1.42 (95% CI 1.06ā1.91) symptoms. Within the path analysis, the association between suboptimal parenting and BPD outcome was partially mediated by DSM-IV diagnoses and IQ at 7ā8 years.
Conclusions Children from adverse family backgrounds, who experience suboptimal parenting and more conflict between parents, have poor cognitive abilities and a DSM-IV diagnosis, are at increased risk of BPD symptoms at 11 years
