Tick-borne encephalitis virus in dogs - is this an issue?

The last review on Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) in dogs was published almost ten years ago. Since then, this zoonotic tick-borne arbovirus has been geographically spreading and emerging in many regions in Eurasia and continues to do so. Dogs become readily infected with TBE virus but they are accidental hosts not capable to further spread the virus. They seroconvert upon infection but they seem to be much more resistant to the clinical disease than humans. Apart from their use as sentinels in endemic areas, however, an increasing number of case reports appeared during the last decade thus mirroring the rising public health concerns. Owing to the increased mobility of people travelling to endemic areas with their companion dogs, this consequently leads to problems in recognizing and diagnosing this severe infection in a yet non-endemic area, simply because the veterinarians are not considering TBE. This situation warrants an update on the epidemiology, clinical presentation and possible preventions of TBE in the dog

Design of robust gain scheduled controller using L2L_2 gain performance

    Get PDF
summary:This paper is devoted to robust gain scheduled PID controller design with L2L_2 performance for the linear time varying (LPV) uncertain system with polytopic uncertainties. The novel approach of robust controller design ensures that the obtained design procedure is convex with respect to both plant uncertainties (polytopic system) and gain scheduling parameters and gives less conservative results. Modified design procedure should be used to obtain a robust controller or robust switched controller (ideal, non-ideal switching) with arbitrarily switching algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated on the simulation examples

Modeling and Control System of Wind Power Plants with Pumped Storage Hydro Power Plant

    No full text
Wind power plants (WPP) are now frequently discussed as a renewable source of energy. The change of wind speed changes the electric power of these plants, which should be causes oscillations in power system. To suppress oscillations influence in the performance of WPP, we decided for the cooperation with pumped storage hydro power plant (PSHPP). The aim of this paper is to create an active power control for model of WPP and PSHPP

Master-slave H-Infinity robust controller design for synchronization of chaotic systems

    Get PDF
This paper is devoted to robust master-slave controller design for generalized chaotic systems synchronization. The closed-loop system is asymptotically stable when the robust stability conditions hold and while the H-Infinity norm of the closed-loop transfer function with respect to defined output and input is strictly less than gamma>0. In this paper a modified L2 gain approach is used and an original design procedure is proposed to decrease the conservativeness of the former method. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown in numerical examples
