The Hyde Amendment: Its Impact on Low Income Women with Unwanted Pregnancies
The Hyde amendment, which has been in effect since 1977, restricts federal funding of abortions for Medicaid-eligible women except where the life of the mother would be endangered if a fetus were carried to term.
