Sharing Default Information as a Borrower Discipline Device

    Get PDF
Creditors often share information about their customers' credit record. Besides helping them to spot bad risks, this informational exchange acts as a disciplinary device. If creditors are known to exchange data about defaults, borrowers must consider that default on a current lender would disrupt their credit rating with all the other lenders. This raises their incentive to perform. But sharing more detailed information can reduce this disciplinary effect: when lenders only disclose past defaults, borrowers' incentives to perform may be greater than when lenders share all their information. In some instances, by "fine-tuning" the type and accuracy of the information shared, lenders can raise borrowers' incentives to their first-best level.Fiscal policy, national saving, contractionary fiscal expansions

An Accelerating Universe without Lambda: Delta~Gravity Using Monte Carlo

A gravitational field model based on two symmetric tensors, gμνg_{\mu \nu} and g~μν\tilde{g}_{\mu \nu}, is studied, using a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) analysis with the most updated catalog of SN-Ia. In this model, new matter fields are added to the original matter fields, motivated by an additional symmetry (δ~\tilde{\delta}~symmetry). We call them δ~\tilde{\delta} matter fields. This theory predicts an accelerating Universe without the need to introduce a cosmological constant Λ\Lambda by hand in the equations. We obtained a very good fit to the SN-Ia Data, and with this, we found the two free parameters of the theory called CC and L2L_2. With these values, we have fixed all the degrees of freedom in the model. The last H0H_0 local value measurement is in tension with the CMB Data from Planck. Based on an absolute magnitude MV=−19.23M_V = -19.23 for the SN, Delta Gravity finds H0H_0 to be 74.47±1.6374.47\pm 1.63 km/(s Mpc). This value is in concordance with the last measurement of the H0H_0 local value, 73.83±1.4873.83\pm 1.48 km/(s Mpc).Comment: latex, 27 pages,15 figure

Matroid toric ideals: complete intersection, minors and minimal systems of generators

In this paper, we investigate three problems concerning the toric ideal associated to a matroid. Firstly, we list all matroids M\mathcal M such that its corresponding toric ideal IMI_{\mathcal M} is a complete intersection. Secondly, we handle with the problem of detecting minors of a matroid M\mathcal M from a minimal set of binomial generators of IMI_{\mathcal M}. In particular, given a minimal set of binomial generators of IMI_{\mathcal M} we provide a necessary condition for M\mathcal M to have a minor isomorphic to Ud,2d\mathcal U_{d,2d} for d≥2d \geq 2. This condition is proved to be sufficient for d=2d = 2 (leading to a criterion for determining whether M\mathcal M is binary) and for d=3d = 3. Finally, we characterize all matroids M\mathcal M such that IMI_{\mathcal M} has a unique minimal set of binomial generators.Comment: 9 page
