Chemical vapour deposition and atomic layer deposition of amorphous and nanocrystalline metallic coatings: towards deposition of multimetallic films
This paper provides a prospective insight on chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and atomic layer deposition (ALD) as dry techniques for the processing of amorphous and nanocrystalline metallic thin films. These techniques are part of major technologies in application fields such as microelectronics, energy, or protective coatings.
From thermodynamic analysis, areas of investigation to generate a set of materials with the strongest propensity for amorphization as well as useful guidelines for the target phase material deposition are provided.
Prospective to develop MOCVD (metalorganic chemical vapour deposition) and ALD of intermetallic films, in view of fabrication of metallic glass thin films is proposed. Examples from selected ALD and MOCVD single element metallic deposition processes will be described to illustrate the effect of deposition parameters on the physico-chemical properties of the films. This processing approach is particularly promising for metallic glass thin films
Les « morts vivants » à Cam Ne. Le premier « Zippo raid » de la guerre du ViĂȘt-nam

Rab27a: A key to melanosome transport in human melanocytes
Normal pigmentation depends on the uniform distribution of melanin-containing vesicles, the melanosomes, in the epidermis. Griscelli syndrome (GS) is a rare autosomal recessive disease, characterized by an immune deficiency and a partial albinism that has been ascribed to an abnormal melanosome distribution. GS maps to 15q21 and was first associated with mutations in the myosin-V gene. However, it was demonstrated recently that GS can also be caused by a mutation in the Rab27a gene. These observations prompted us to investigate the role of Rab27a in melanosome transport. Using immunofluorescence and immunoelectron microscopy studies, we show that in normal melanocytes Rab27a colocalizes with melanosomes. In melanocytes isolated from a patient with GS, we show an abnormal melanosome distribution and a lack of Rab27a expression. Finally, reexpression of Rab27a in GS melanocytes restored melanosome transport to dendrite tips, leading to a phenotypic reversion of the diseased cells. These results identify Rab27a as a key component of vesicle transport machinery in melanocytes
An overview of knowledge sharing in new product development
This paper provides an overview of some of the issues in knowledge management related to the sharing of knowledge in new product development. Previous research and concepts reported by international researchers, and examples of the research projects carried out by the authors will be introduced. The paper first provides an overview of the history and importance of innovation and challenges in manufacturing. Then the importance of new product development in the sustainable success of manufacturing enterprises in the globalised business operations is discussed. The formalisation and modelling of product development processes will also be introduced. The concept and different definitions of knowledge management by previous researchers are then introduced, with further discussion on knowledge sharing. At this point, the authorsâ research in knowledge sharing is also introduced. Finally, the trend of using social media and Enterprise 2 technologies in knowledge management and sharing is introduced using the recent research projects of the authors as examples
