Logarithmic stability estimates for initial data in Ornstein-Uhlenbeck equation on L2L^2-space

In this paper, we continue the investigation on the connection between observability and inverse problems for a class of parabolic equations with unbounded first order coefficients. We prove new logarithmic stability estimates for a class of initial data in the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck equation posed on L2(RN)L^2\left(\mathbb{R}^N\right) with respect to the Lebesgue measure. The proofs combine observability and logarithmic convexity results that include a non-analytic semigroup case. This completes the picture of the recent results obtained for the analytic Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroup on L2L^2-space with invariant measure

EFFICACY AND SAFETY EVALUATION OF SESA OIL AND SESA CAPSULE IN DIFFERENT HAIR DISORDERS

Background: Hair loss can cause psychological stress to the patient. It may be prevented if early treatment is started. A holistic approach to stop hair fall would include not only therapeutic intervention but also an active search for associated nutritional deficits. Aim: Purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of SESA oil and capsule in different hair disorders. Materials and Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted at Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Ayurved and Research Institute. Totally 40 individuals, (12 women and 28 men) with alopecia were enrolled. All the patients were advised to use SESA oil and SESA capsule as directed. Results: The efficacy was assessed on every monthly follow-up for 3 months. Patients showed a marked decrease in hair fall and increase in regeneration of hair. They also showed improvement in psychological condition and secondary parameters of hair disorders. There were no adverse reactions documented, neither reported nor observed, during the entire study period. Conclusion: Therefore, it may be concluded that SESA oil and capsule are clinically effective and safe therapeutic regimens for the treatment of different hair disorders

Control of single-wall-nanotube field-effect transistors via indirect long-range optically induced processes

We observe significant changes in the response of single-wall-carbon-nanotube-based field-effect transistors upon photoexcitation in the presence of optically active conjugated polymer network. The primary features observed are in the form of an increase in the current in the depletion mode upon photoexcitation. Pulsed measurements indicate that the transistor enters the depleted state prior to the rise in current brought about by the transfer of the photogenerated carriers from the semiconducting polymer to the nanotube under depletion bias

Numerical impulse controllability for parabolic equations by a penalized HUM approach

This work presents a comparative study to numerically compute impulse approximate controls for parabolic equations with various boundary conditions. Theoretical controllability results have been recently investigated using a logarithmic convexity estimate at a single time based on a Carleman commutator approach. We propose a numerical algorithm for computing the impulse controls with minimal L2L^2-norms by adapting a penalized Hilbert Uniqueness Method (HUM) combined with a Conjugate Gradient (CG) method. We consider static boundary conditions (Dirichlet and Neumann) and dynamic boundary conditions. Some numerical experiments based on our developed algorithm are given to validate and compare the theoretical impulse controllability results

Seasonal fluctuations of phlebotomines sand fly populations (Diptera: Psychodidae) in the Moulay Yacoub province, centre Morocco: Effect of ecological factors

An entomological survey of phlebotomine sand flies was conducted in the Moulay Yacoub province, central Morocco. An anthropic niche (Ouled Aid) and a wild niche (Zliligh) were selected. Sand flies were collected twice a month between April 2011 and March 2012, using sticky traps and CDC light traps. 3675 specimens were collected (78.3% males/21.7% females) which composed of eight species divided into two genera: Phlebotomus (90.34%), wide Phlebotomus papatasi (49.78%), Phlebotomus sergenti (27.17%), Phlebotomus longicuspis (13.69%), Phlebotomus pernicuosis (9.36%) and Sergentomyia (9.66%) composed of Sergentomyia fallax (52.36%), Sergentomyia minuta (34.26%) Sergentomyia antennata (11.16%) and Sergentomyia dreyfussi (2.22%). P. papatasi is dominant in the anthropic niche and P. longicuspis is dominant in the wild niche. The population dynamics showed a bimodal pattern with a first peak in June for both studied stations and a second one in September for Ouled Aid and in August for Zliligh. A significant positive correlation between the density and the temperature(r = 0.64, r = 0.66) and a significant negative correlation with humidity (r = -0.64, r = -0.62) are shown. Density (119 specimens/m2/night) of sand flies showed that Moulay Yacoub’s province presents a risk for the inhabitants in the vicinity of Fez. This situation requires continuous monitoring to prevent and reduce the leishmania risk.Key words: Sand flies, leishmaniasis, seasonality; risk period, Moulay Yacoub, Morocco

Stable determination of coefficients in semilinear parabolic system with dynamic boundary conditions

In this work, we study the stable determination of four space-dependent coefficients appearing in a coupled semilinear parabolic system with variable diffusion matrices subject to dynamic boundary conditions which couple intern-boundary phenomena. We prove a Lipschitz stability result for interior and boundary potentials by means of only one observation component, localized in any arbitrary open subset of the physical domain. The proof mainly relies on some new Carleman estimates for dynamic boundary conditions of surface diffusion type
