Superloop Equations and Two Dimensional Supergravity
We propose a discrete model whose continuum limit reproduces the string
susceptibility and the scaling dimensions of -minimal superconformal
models coupled to -supergravity. The basic assumption in our presentation
is a set of super-Virasoro constraints imposed on the partition function. We
recover the Neveu-Schwarz and Ramond sectors of the theory, and we are also
able to evaluate all planar loop correlation functions in the continuum limit.
We find evidence to identify the integrable hierarchy of non-linear equations
describing the double scaling limit as a supersymmetric generalization of KP
studied by Rabin.Comment: 34 page
Algebraic characterization of the Wess-Zumino consistency conditions in gauge theories
A new way of solving the descent equations corresponding to the Wess-Zumino
consistency conditions is presented. The method relies on the introduction of
an operator which allows to decompose the exterior space-time
derivative as a commutator. The case of the Yang-Mills theories is
treated in detail.Comment: 16 pages, UGVA-DPT 1992/08-781 to appear in Comm. Math. Phy
Simultaneous determination of afb1 and afm1 in milk samples by ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole orbitrap mass spectrometry
Milk is the world’s most consumed beverage, not counting water. Even though investigations on milk aflatoxin (AF) M1 contamination are regularly conducted, there is limited information on the contamination of milk with its parent compound, AFB1. Hence, the aim of this study was to develop a quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS)-based method for the simultaneous analysis of AFB1 and AFM1 in milk, using ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography coupled with high resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS). The recoveries were in a range of 75–96% at 0.005, 0.01, and 0.05 µg/L spiking levels, with repeatability and reproducibility results expressed as relative standard deviations (RSDs) lower than 7% and 16%, respectively. The limits of detection (LODs) and quantification (LOQs) were 0.001 and 0.002 µg/L for AFM1 and AFB1, respectively. The LODs and LOQs that were obtained showed the suitability of the developed method for the determination of trace amounts of the selected mycotoxins in milk samples, and were up to ten times lower than those that had been reported in previous works using triple quadrupole mass analyzers. The matrix effect was evaluated and matrix-matched calibrations were used for quantification. The validated method was applied to 40 Italian milk samples. Neither AFB1 nor AFM1 were found above the LOD in any of the analyzed samples
String Form Factors
We compute the cross section for scattering of light string probes by
randomly excited closed strings. For high energy probes, the cross section
factorizes and can be used to define effective form factors for the excited
targets. These form factors are well defined without the need for infinite
subtractions and contain information about the shape and size of typical
strings. For highly excited strings the elastic form factor can be written in
terms of the `plasma dispersion function', which describes charge screening in
high temperature plasmas.Comment: 18 pages, 3 figures. Typos corrected, 1 footnote (in Section 4) and 1

Yang-Mills gauge anomalies in the presence of gravity with torsion
The BRST transformations for the Yang-Mills gauge fields in the presence of
gravity with torsion are discussed by using the so-called Maurer-Cartan
horizontality conditions. With the help of an operator \d which allows to
decompose the exterior spacetime derivative as a BRST commutator we solve the
Wess-Zumino consistency condition corresponding to invariant Chern-Simons terms
and gauge anomalies.Comment: 24 pages, report REF. TUW 94-1

Experiments with polymer coated microspheres irradiated by the Shiva laser system
Polymer coated spherical targets have been irradiated by the Shiva laser system in an effort to compress the contained 10 mg/cc DT fuel to super liquid densities. Glass microspheres of 140 ..mu..m ID and 5 ..mu..m wall thickness with polymer coatings 15 ..mu..m to 100 ..mu..m thick have been irradiated with laser pulses of 4 kilojoules in 200 psec FWHM. Target performance was diagnosed with neutron yield measurements, radiochemistry, Argon line imaging, and x-ray imaging techniques. Ball in plate targets achieved greater implosion symmetry than free-standing ball targets. With yields of 10/sup 7/ to 10/sup 8/ neutrons, targets reached DT fuel compressions of several times liquid density
Algebraic structure of gravity in Ashtekar variables
The BRST transformations for gravity in Ashtekar variables are obtained by
using the Maurer-Cartan horizontality conditions. The BRST cohomology in
Ashtekar variables is calculated with the help of an operator
introduced by S.P. Sorella, which allows to decompose the exterior derivative
as a BRST commutator. This BRST cohomology leads to the differential invariants
for four-dimensional manifolds.Comment: 19 pages, report REF. TUW 94-1
The Expectation Monad in Quantum Foundations
The expectation monad is introduced abstractly via two composable
adjunctions, but concretely captures measures. It turns out to sit in between
known monads: on the one hand the distribution and ultrafilter monad, and on
the other hand the continuation monad. This expectation monad is used in two
probabilistic analogues of fundamental results of Manes and Gelfand for the
ultrafilter monad: algebras of the expectation monad are convex compact
Hausdorff spaces, and are dually equivalent to so-called Banach effect
algebras. These structures capture states and effects in quantum foundations,
and also the duality between them. Moreover, the approach leads to a new
re-formulation of Gleason's theorem, expressing that effects on a Hilbert space
are free effect modules on projections, obtained via tensoring with the unit
interval.Comment: In Proceedings QPL 2011, arXiv:1210.029
Pure Spinor Approach to Type IIA Superstring Sigma Models and Free Differential Algebras
This paper considers the Free Differential Algebra and rheonomic
parametrization of type IIA Supergravity, extended to include the BRS
differential and the ghosts. We consider not only the ghosts lambda's of
supersymmetry but also the ghosts corresponding to gauge and Lorentz
transformations. In this way we can derive not only the BRS transformations of
fields and ghosts but also the standard pure spinor constraints on lambda's.
Moreover the formalism allows to derive the action for the pure spinor
formulation of type IIA superstrings in a general background, recovering the
action first obtained by Berkovits and Howe.Comment: 1+23 pages, v2: added clarifications and a reference, misprints
