    An Enhanced Table Driven Source Routing Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

    Analysis of MANETs led to the research on network layer. Different routing protocols were designed for numerous objectives and purposes. The way data packets are handled with in a multi-hop wireless network refers to Opportunistic data forwarding. During present research, we propose enhanced table-driven source routing protocol. This protocol maintains additional topology information which is different from Distance Vector (DV) routing protocol. The proposed approach will reduce overhead compared to the ancient Distance Vector based protocols. Base on the test results performed using Computer Simulator (Network Simulator 2) observed that the overhead in the proposed solution is just a fraction of the overhead of the standard proactive protocols. Performance of the current solution is better for transportation of higher information compared to existing proactive routing protocols

    Hepatoprotective activity of methanolic leaves extract of Rostellularia procumbens by using carbon tetrachloride intoxicated rats

    Background: Rostelluria procumbens is a medicinal plant used traditionally in the treatment of asthma, cough and constipation and as an antioxidant etc. it is rich in phytochemical compounds, which are responsible for its biological properties. The present study focused on evaluation of hepatoprotective activity of methanolic extract of R. procumbens leaf in carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) induced hepatotoxocity in rats.Methods: In this study, 30 wistar rats were used and grouped into 6 each group contain 6 rats. In this study, CCl4 is used as hepatotoxin. Four groups were treated with CCl4 and taken as disease control, standard, and two test groups. One group was taken as control treated with saline. Blood samples were collected and estimated serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase, serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase, alkaline phosphatase and total bilirubin, which are key markers of liver function. The rats were sacrificed and livers were isolated and histopatological studies carried out.Results: On oral administration of methanolic leaves extract of R. procumbens to ethanol intoxicated, rats resulted in significant restoration of enzyme levels and also silymarin at a dose of 25 mg/kg. The reversal of increased serum enzymes in ethanol-induced liver damage by the extract may be due to the prevention of leakage of intracellular enzymes by its membrane stabilizing activity.Conclusion: The results confirm that R. procumbens have hepatoprotective activity againstCCl4 induced hepatotoxicity and significant hepatoprotection seen at 500 mg/kg dose

    IMPACT OF HYDROALCOHOLIC CONCENTRATE OF HEMIDESMUS INDICUS AGAINST 1-METHYL-4-PHENYL-1,2,3,6-TETRAHYDROPYRIDINE PROMPTED PARKINSONISM IN MICE

    Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the protective effect of Hemidesmus indicus against 1-Methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced mice model. Methods: A total of 18 male Swiss Albino mice were divided into three groups (n=6). Hydroalcoholic concentrate of H. indicus (HAHI) at 200 and 400 mg/kg dosages, 30 min before the MPTP (20 mg/kg, intraperitoneal organization) treatment, was regulated for 7 days, and behavioral assessment was made by rotarod test, grip strength test, locomotor activity, and catatonia behavioral study. Appraisal of cell reinforcement catalysts, such as thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS), superoxide dismutase, catalepsy, glutathione (GSH) peroxidase, and GSH, were also assessed to screen the neurotoxicity incited by MPTP. Results: In the present investigation, the neuroprotective impacts of the hydroalcoholic concentrate of H. indicus were assessed, Which is known for its monoamine oxidiase activity, stimulant, anti-convulsant activity and a section of it is used as nerve tonic Frozen at 8 degree C. The cell viability analysis and IC50 determination in SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cell lines were performed by MTT assay, and neuronal red uptake assay and HAHI were found to have a significant IC50 value in SH-SY5Y cells. Conclusion: The outcomes demonstrated that HAHI essentially enhanced the behavioral studies, striatal neurotransmitter content, and antioxidant status in a dose-dependent manner lessened TBARS level

    EFFECT OF HYDROALCOHOLIC EXTRACT OF ACHYRANTHES ASPERA ON HALOPERIDOLINDUCED PARKINSON'S DISEASE IN WISTAR RATS

      Objective: Prolonged usage of neuroleptics in psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia provokes extrapyramidal symptoms that are also seen in Parkinson's disease. An attempt has been made to study the neuroprotective role of Achyranthes aspera hydroalcoholic (HA) extract on haloperidol-induced Parkinson's symptoms in Wistar rats.Methods: The present study deals with the antiparkinson effect of HA extract of A. aspera on haloperidol (2 mg/kg intraperitoneal administration)- induced catatonia in Wistar rats. The motor coordination in case of haloperidol-treated animals was studied by performing rotarod test and hang test. Dopamine and 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid were estimated using an electrochemical detector and high-performance liquid chromatography. The antioxidant status was also assessed to know the neurotoxicity of haloperidol by estimating the levels of lipid peroxidation, superoxide dismutase, glutathione (GSH) peroxidase, and reduced GSH by performing individual assays.Results: All these assessments were done on 24 Wistar rats which were divided into four groups (n=6). HA was administered at 200 and 400 mg/kg doses, 30 minutes before haloperidol treatment for 20 days. HA significantly (*p<0.05, **p<0.01) improved the antioxidant status.Conclusion: The results shown that HA shows a protective role in haloperidol catalepsy and also possess antioxidant property

    Inositol pyrophosphate synthesis by inositol hexakisphosphate kinase 1 is required for homologous recombination repair

    Inositol pyrophosphates, such as diphosphoinositol pentakisphosphate (IP7), are water-soluble inositol phosphates that contain high energy diphosphate moieties on the inositol ring. Inositol hexakisphosphate kinase 1 (IP6K1) participates in inositol pyrophosphate synthesis, converting inositol hexakisphosphate (IP6) to IP7. In the present study, we show that mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) lacking IP6K1 exhibit impaired DNA damage repair via homologous recombination (HR). IP6K1 knock-out MEFs show decreased viability and reduced recovery after induction of DNA damage by the replication stress inducer, hydroxyurea, or the radiomimetic antibiotic, neocarzinostatin. Cells lacking IP6K1 arrest after genotoxic stress, and markers associated with DNA repair are recruited to DNA damage sites, indicating that HR repair is initiated in these cells. However, repair does not proceed to completion because these markers persist as nuclear foci long after drug removal. A fraction of IP6K1-deficient MEFs continues to proliferate despite the persistence of DNA damage, rendering the cells more susceptible to chromosomal aberrations. Expression of catalytically active but not inactive IP6K1 can restore the repair process in knock-out MEFs, implying that inositol pyrophosphates are required for HR-mediated repair. Our study therefore highlights inositol pyrophosphates as novel small molecule regulators of HR signaling in mammals

    Clinical approach, diagnosis and medical management of acute pancreatitis among patients attending tertiary care hospital in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, India

    Background: There has been an increase in the incidence of acute pancreatitis reported globally and despite of improvements in access to care and interventional techniques, acute pancreatitis continues to be associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The present study was aimed to assess the clinical profile of acute pancreatitis and to assess the efficacy of various severity indices in view of   outcome of patients. Methods: A hospital based prospective cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2022-March 2023 in Gastro and Liver care center in Ongole, Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh India. All consecutive 72 patients with a diagnosis of acute pancreatitis were included in this study. Results: Out of total acute Pancreatitis cases   61 (84.7%) were males and 11 (15.3%) were females and acute abdominal pain (97.2%) and decreased appetite (95.8%) were the most common presenting complaints, 54.2% cases were due to Alcoholism, followed by hyperlipidemia with 20.8% and Gall stones 13.9%.  All 72 (100%) received pancreatic supplements, 68 (94.4%) were given pain killers, and 65 (90.3%) were taken anti-ulcer agents. Twenty-three (31.9%) patients with 0 to 3 points as per CTSI Score and 4-6 range points were observed in 47 (65.3%) pancreatitis patients. Maximum (40.3%) were improved on 2nd day, 22 (30.6%) were on 3rd day.  Positive correlation noticed between Amylase and in diagnosing acute Pancreatitis, it is significant at 0.05 level. Conclusions: Early assessment of the clinical severity and identification of patients at risk is important for early intensive management and timely intervention and to improve quality of life. So, it is mandatory to assess the clinical severity using different scoring systems. and appropriate treatment based on guidelines

    An automated algorithm for the quantification of hCG level in novel fabric-based home pregnancy test kits

    We report a new image processing algorithm that extracts quantitative information about the concentration of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), an important early pregnancy marker, from commercially available qualitative home pregnancy kits. The algorithm could potentially be ported onto a simple camera based cell phone making it a low-cost, portable point-of-care device as opposed to costly and time consuming clinical labs for accurate quantitative determination of hCG. The algorithm takes the image of the test result as input, classifies and determines the hCG concentration based on the RGB intensities of the test line. The efficacy of the algorithm is demonstrated using control samples on commercially available strips as well as novel fabric based strips designed for this application
