Assessment of customer satisfaction in transportation service delivery: The case of three terminals of Anbassa City Bus service enterprise.

    Get PDF
This study is undertaken to assess the level of satisfaction of customers about the transport service provision of ACBSE. The study indicates that buses are aged, there is high breakdown of buses, very limited supply of buses, and existing buses are not operating as per the schedule. Therefore, the service is found not reliable and safe. Excessive waiting time and long walking distance to reach the service make it inconvenient. Moreover, high overcrowding and pick pocketing make it uncomfortable and insecure. Correspondingly, the quality of the service is poor and customers are not satisfied about the transport service of ACBSE

Atlanta Conference on Science and Innovation Policy 2009This presentation was part of the session : Organizations of Science and InnovationAfrican universities are still suffering from the difficulties they faced in the 1980s and in this regard the American Chronicle of Higher Education recently stated that, "African universities' capacity to educate new PhD holders is eroding, raising deep concerns about the continent's ability to produce new generations of academics, educators." Over the period 2000-2004 Africa produced only 1.8 % of the world's publications. In comparison India produced 2.4 % and Latin America 3.5 % of the world's research. Moreover it has been suggested that much of research is concentrated in only two African countries, i.e. South Africa, and Egypt which between them account for just above 50% of the continent's publications. The top 8 countries in Africa produce above 80 % of the continent's research. Africa's inventive profile also shows that the continent needs to catch up; as it is said it produces less than one thousand of the world's inventions, where 88% of the continent's inventive activity is located in South Africa

In developing countries like Ethiopia Microfinance institutions are playing an essential role in poverty reduction; to provide the provision of micro-credit, savings, and other services to the poor that are excluded by the commercial banks for collateral and other reasons. However, there is a loan repayment problem, which discourages rural finance organizations from promoting and extending credit. Therefore, this study focuses on identifying the factors affecting the loan repayment performance of OCSSC borrowers in Ada’a Barga district, Oromia National Regional State, Ethiopia. Purposive and random sampling technique was used to select 139 sampled respondents.  Both primary and secondary data sources were used for this study. Descriptive statistics and t-test and chi-square test analyses were employed to compare defaulters and non-defaulters with the explanatory variables. Also, binary logit econometric model was used to examine the factors that affect credit repayment performance of the selected sampled household borrows of OCSSC. The result showed that out of 139 chosen respondents, 56 were defaulters and 83 were non-defaulters. A total of twelve explanatory variables were included in the empirical model and out of the total hypothesized explanatory variables involved in the model, age, educational level, celebration of social ceremony and participation in off/non-farm activities were positively and statistically significantly affected loan repayment performance at 1% significance level. Moreover, livestock ownership positively affected loan repayment at 5% 1% significance level. On the contrary purpose of borrowing and family size was negatively and significantly affected loan repayment performance at 5% and 10% significance level.  Therefore, the study recommended that the identified significant variables have to be a springboard for further interventions by financial institutions, stakeholders and policymakers to come with a breakthrough to significantly decrease or even avoid defaulting problems., Keywords: Binary logit; defaulters; loan repayment; non-defaulters; OCSSC DOI: 10.7176/JESD/12-15-04 Publication date:August 31st 202
