Violation of the I=1/2 rule in the nonmesonic weak decay of hypernuclei
Violations of the I=1/2 rule are investigated in the nonmesonic weak
hypernuclear decay using a weak NNN transition potential based on
meson exchange. While the weak I=3/2 matrix elements of baryons with
pseudoscalar mesons are known to be very small, the same matrix elements of
baryons with vector mesons, evaluated in the factorization approximation, are
found to be significant. Within the uncertainties of the factorization
approximation we find that the total rate increases by at most 6% lying within
the error bars of the more recent experimental result. The neutron- to
proton-induced rate, on the other hand, can change by up to a factor of two,
while the asymmetry parameter is strongly affected as well.Comment: 17 pages. Paper related to a contribution presented at the

New results in rho^0 meson physics
We compare the predictions of a range of existing models based on the Vector
Meson Dominance hypothesis with data on e^+ e^- -> pi^+ pi^$ and e^+ e^- ->
mu^+ mu^- cross-sections and the phase and near-threshold behavior of the
timelike pion form factor, with the aim of determining which (if any) of these
models is capable of providing an accurate representation of the full range of
experimental data. We find that, of the models considered, only that proposed
by Bando et al. is able to consistently account for all information, provided
one allows its parameter "a" to vary from the usual value of 2 to 2.4. Our fit
with this model gives a point-like coupling (gamma pi^+ \pi^-) of magnitude ~
-e/6, while the common formulation of VMD excludes such a term. The resulting
values for the rho mass and pi^+ pi^- and e^+e^- partial widths as well as the
branching ratio for the decay omega -> pi^+ pi^- obtained within the context of

Constituent quark models and pentaquark baryons
We discuss certain general features of the pentaquark picture for the theta,
its 10bar_F partner, Xi_{3/2}, and possible heavy quark analogues. Models
employing spin-dependent interactions based on either effective Goldstone boson
exchange or effective color magnetic exchange are also used to shed light on
possible corrections to the Jaffe-Wilczek and Karliner-Lipkin scenarios. Some
model-dependent features of the pentaquark picture (splitting patterns and

Some continuum physics results from the lattice V-A correlator
We present preliminary results on extractions of the chiral LECs L_10 and
C_87 and constraints on the excited pseudoscalar state pi(1300) and pi(1800)
decay constants obtained from an analysis of lattice data for the flavor ud
light quark V-A correlator. A comparison of the results for the correlator to
the corresponding mildly-model-dependent continuum results (based primarily on

Decay constants, light quark masses and quark mass bounds from light quark pseudoscalar sum rules
The flavor and pseudoscalar correlators are investigated using
families of finite energy sum rules (FESR's) known to be very accurately
satisfied in the isovector vector channel. It is shown that the combination of
constraints provided by the full set of these sum rules is sufficiently strong
to allow determination of both the light quark mass combinations ,
and the decay constants of the first excited pseudoscalar mesons in
these channels. The resulting masses and decay constants are also shown to
produce well-satisfied Borel transformed sum rules, thus providing non-trivial
constraints on the treatment of direct instanton effects in the FESR analysis.
The values of and obtained are in good agreement with the
values implied by recent hadronic decay analyses and the ratios obtained
from ChPT. New light quark mass bounds based on FESR's involving weight
functions which strongly suppress spectral contributions from the excited
resonance region are also presented.Comment: 28 pages, 10 figure
Isospin Breaking and -> Decay
We study decay up to including all orders of the chiral
expansion and one-loop level of mesons in formlism of chiral constituent quark
model. This G-parity forbidden decay is caused by and
electromagnetic interaction of mesons. We illustrate that in the formlism both
nonresonant contact interaction and resonance exchange contribute to
this process, and the contribution from resonance exchange is dominant.
We obtain that transition matrix element is
MeV, and

Strange Quark Mass from Pseudoscalar Sum Rule with O(alpha_s^4) Accuracy
We include the new, five-loop, O(alpha_s^4) correction into the QCD sum rule
used for the s-quark mass determination. The pseudoscalar Borel sum rule is
taken as a study case. The OPE for the correlation function with N^4LO,
O(alpha_s^4) accuracy in the perturbative part, and with dimension <= 6
operators reveals a good convergence. We observe a significant improvement of
stability of the sum rule with respect to the variation of the renormalization
scale after including the O(alpha_s^4) correction. We obtain the interval m_s(2
GeV)=105 \pm 6 \pm 7 MeV, which exhibits about 2 MeV increase of the central
value, if the O(alpha_s^4) terms are removed.Comment: Few misprints corrected, version to appear in European Physics
