    Get PDF
Ali depicted in general the terrible and destructive human tragedy of subaltern but in particular he put forth the subaltern voice of Kashmir in the landscape of his poetry, and this novelty emerges from the chaos of Kashmir. He had been educated in English and he develops the interest in English language and literature. So English literature has influenced him and his behavior had changed accordingly that he became well aware about postcoloniality. He wants to get rid from these clenches all the countries of the world as well as his motherland Kashmir which he also represented in his poetry. He is extremely worried not only with his previously colonized home „the Indian subcontinent, particularly the region of Kashmir‟ but also with other cultures subject to the repercussion of colonialism and the modern neocolonial order. He writes poetry of „compassionate cosmopolitanism,‟ which, fixed in his multi-cultural tradition, not only foregrounds an ethics of empathy across countrywide and civilizing limitations but also implies an assessment of colonial and neo-colonial power. His cosmopolitanism is especially meaningful if read in the context of postwar American travel poetry and enables a review of the association between “home” and “foreign,” between local issues and universal apprehensions

Nature and natural phenomena always inspire scientists, saints, poets and philosophers throughout civilizations to introspect. Among the great western poets Wordsworth from England and Walt Whitman from America stand most close to nature than anyone else This article tries to compare these great poets of nature. If for Wordsworth nature is a teacher, for Whitman nature is a preacher. Wordsworth broods over nature being close to it but not part to it. Wordsworth often contemplates nature. Whitman worships. But both the poets lived with nature through their poetic expressions. But being in different spaces made them a little different. These poets were preoccupied with the themes of spirit, nature, immortality, mysticism and similar things. Although they wrote about more than two hundred years ago, their ideals are as relevant today bas they were in their times. Observing the crisis of these times, the only hope to free ourselves from its ill effects is to seek shelter in their ideals. They have the power to free man from the disillusionment with the present times. Their poetry can never become obsolete. That is the reason why I pursued this article, to show how they are relevant in our times

Poets are the nation builders. Poets have always fueled the nationalistic movements all over the world from ancient times. Whatever be the nativity of the poets, they use the same motifs, themes and the historical representations in order to proclaim the nationalistic fervor. I have chosen two representative poets of the east and the west and under different political conditions to argue their similarities on the subject of nationalism. Ralph Waldo Emerson from America and Gulam Ahmad Mehjoor from Kashmir are the subject of my analysis. Both these poets are great in their own field. But they have the same nationalistic zeal. Both these poets advice and entreat both leaders and the common men to stand and defend their nation with courage, proper dedication and spirit. The focus of my study is to compare the two great poets on the theme of nationalism. There are many things common between the two poets such as veneration for nature, mysticism, belief in communal harmony and fraternity, and above all zeal of nationalism. Although they lived in different times and situations they deal with the subject of national consciousness in the same manner and brevity
