    Get PDF
Bioremediation is a method that use microorganism to extract heavy metal from contaminated waste. In this research Aspergillus niger was used to extract heavy metal such as Pb and Cd of marine sediment from Waiheru shore, Inner part of Ambon Bay, which was detected as significantly high heavy metal contaminated site among seven sites. Bioremediation were done using Aspergillus nigers to extract Pb and Cd metal from sediment, then their solubility being measured in filtrate media. Result shows that Cd metal were only detected 15 days after incubation while Pb were detected since the first day incubation. This result also showing the fluctuating solubility of Pb metal. It is suspected that this occurs due to biosorption ability of the fungi that being used which triggers metal accumulation in the cell structure. It is therefore can be concluded that Aspergillus niger can be used in bioremediation of sediment that are being contaminated by Pb and Cd heavy metals

It has been conducted a research about the utilization waste of tofu as adsorbent of tartrazine dye. Utilization waste of tofu as adsorption because tofu contains protein which has the power adsorption of amino acids that form a zwitter ion. The purpose of this study was to determine the adsorption process and adosrption kinetics model of tartrazine dye by waste of tofu as adsorbent. Making the adsorbent is done by making waste of tofu into powder with a size of 100 mesh. The method used in the analysis of tartrazine dye is using UV-Vis. Adsorption of of tartrazine dye using waste of tofu at concentrations of 50 ppm and a contact time of 80 minutes with weight adsorbent 0.3 g. The two isotherms were used that Langmuir isotherm and Freundlich isotherm, the adsorption studies of tartrazine dye adsorbent waste of tofu follow Freundlich adsorption isotherms with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 94.4%, KF is 0.0026 mg/g and n is 0.5621. Adsorption kinetics of of tartrazine dye adsorbent waste of tofu following the model of adsorption Ho pseudo-second order with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 100%, Xe is 1.7761 mg/g and k2,ads is -0.6550 g/mg minutes. The mechanism adsorption of of tartrazine dye with waste of tofu as adsorbent is chemisorpsi process

Gold reserves on Gunung Botak (Bald Mountain), Buru Island, were discovered in 2011. Since then, thousands of illegal miners have used amalgamation methods to extract gold in the areas of Gunung Botak and Gogrea, Buru Island. The resulting waste is disposed of into the environment directly without any treatment process so it is very dangerous for humans and the environment. This research was conducted to determine the ability of the Enhalus acoroides type of seagrass to accumulate heavy metal mercury (Hg) in the aquatic environment. This research shows that the heavy metal mercury has been distributed in the water sediments along Kayeli Bay. Mercury bio-concentration (accumulation) Gunung Botak, Kayeli Bay, Mercury (Hg), bioconcenstration, Seagrass, Enhalus acoroides, Kayeli Baywas found in Enhalus acoroides seagrass, in leaves (0.0243-0.0373 mg/Kg), and in rhizomes (0.0453-0.0663 mg/Kg). This result shows that the Kayeli Bay ecosystem has been contaminated with mercury

Water pollution by metallic mercury (Hg) in Buru island as a result of mining activity people are very dangerous for marine life, firstly for Mollusca that was consumed by local communities. Therefore, it is needed to measure the levels of pollution Hg of shells. The research has been done on several types of shells, taken at several different points, those are: at the Namlea market, Arumbae market, and Latuhalat beach. The research’s method used Cold Vapour Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry   (CV-AAS). The results obtained by the concentration of metals Hg in Polla shells (Telebraria sulcata) 0.19240 mg/kg; Manis shells (Ruditapes variegatus) 0.27171 mg/kg; Ciput shells (Nerita polita) 0.31387 mg/kg; Keong shells (Thais aculeata) 0.05556 mg/kg; Tudung shells (Cellana radiata) 0.05922 mg/kg and Bapaco shells (Telescopium telescopium) 0.00183 mg/kg. Based on the results of this research, the mercury (Hg) concentrations of several types of shells which contain levels of Hg that low enough and has not exceeded the threshold set by WHO as big as 0.5 mg/kg. Even that there was small concentrations of metals, it can be acumulated in human’s body and can be fatal to the health of humans who consume shells

The paramagnetic complex {[Fe(fen)(NCS)2]2oks} have been synthesized in methanol solution using 1-10 phenantrolin, 2,2 '-bipyridine, NCS- ligands and oxalate as bridging ligand. Synthesis of Fe (II) with ligands phenantrolin produced three complexes is paramagnetic compounds each with a value of magnetic moment (μ) of 5.98 BM, 7.34 BM and 6.00 BM, respectively. For complexes with bipyridine ligand complexes obtained two diamagnetic compounds with the magnetic moment (μ) was 3.57 BM and 3.50 BM, respectively. It could concluded that the field strength of bipyridine ligand cannot be reduced by NCS- ligand. Analysis results showing that the synthesized compound is a binuclear complex with {[Fe(fen)(NCS)2]2oks} molecular formula. This conclusion was supported by the measurement of conductivity, magnetic moment, IR spectroscopy and XRD analysis
