This article is a short description of Molana Jalal al-Din Mohammad Balkhi’s thoughts, a famous Iranian mystic and poet, and an attempt to present his ancient ideas, but with a new approach whom he desired to represent from the new window towards the poetry of life, the window which represents an overview to make beautiful waves of mysticism and literature. This paper is a minor part of my PhD dissertation “Elements of Sufism in the Poetry of Rumi and Whitman: A Comparative Study” in which the attempt has been made to find out the common elements of Sufism in the poetry of the two prominent Iranian and American poets (Molana Jalal al-Din Mohammad Balkhi known as Rumi and Walt Whitman, romantic poet), which one of them is the concept of death. Rumi's nostalgia has always attracted the soul of the enchanted and wise human in the valley of mysticism. This nostalgia is crystallized from centuries of human thought, which has been developed by human conflict for self-knowledge. The total extract in Rumi’s immortal works, especially in his two famous works, the Mathnavi Manavi and the Divan Shams, is love, which builds the main pillar of Rumi’s ontology. Hence, the school of Rumi is called “the school of love” and he has been called the “prophet of Love.

The study of the emergence of the Sufi poetry in Persian literature has been of interest to all Persian historians. Sufism is a special School of thought which was formally introduced from the second century AD. The first thing that was important among them was the denial of the world and then, love for God was the ultimate goal of their deeds. Therefore, their teachings are divided into two categories: educational literature and romantic literature. Subsequently, the great heritage left behind which was nourished from this School of thought. The influence of Rumi’s thought on Whitman’s poetry

The word Sufi originates from a Persian word meaning wisdom and wisdom is the ultimate power. The following survey tries to explore this concept in the works of Rumi and its impact on the western writers and poets particularly Whitman. It tries to show how Whitman inspired from Rumi and came to be the messenger of Sufism in his poems. These poems reveal the depth of Sufi spirituality, the inner states of mystical love, and the Unity of Being through symbolic expressions. They also express aspects of Sufism and of traveling the Sufi path inaccessible in prose writing
