    Islam Jawa in Diaspora and Questions on Locality

    This article examines the translocal Islam Jawa (Javanese Islam) that characterises the deterritorialisation of culture through space and time. Contrary to mainstream approaches to Islam Jawa that tends substantially picture Islam and Muslim in Java as a mere “localised form of Islam”, it sees Islam Jawa as a “translocal” practices. In addition, it sees that the idea of Islam Jawa travels, deterritorialises, and reterritorialises in different times and places. Therefore, what is imagined by scholars as “local Islam” is not local in traditional and geographical senses because Islam Jawa is formed, shaped and influenced by the mobility, entanglement, connectivity across oceans, regions, and borders. The Islam Jawa also travels to a different place, transcending the modern limits of nation-states\u27 boundaries. Islam Jawa is a product and a consequence of the efforts to establish between “imagined” spatial and temporal congruence

    Tulisan ini membahas tentang strategi ilmuwan dalam mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan di Indonesia. Topik ini penting dibahas sebagai kerangka untuk membangun kemajuan di Indonesia. Aspek penting yang tidak bisa diabaikan untuk proses ini adalah etika. Etika penting sebagai landasan untuk menciptakan ilmu pengetahuan dan peradaban secara lebih baik. Data dalam tulisan ini berasal dari telaah literatur pemikiran yang disusun sesuai dengan metode ilmiah. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ada tiga kata yang sering dipakai secara bergantian yaitu ilmuwan, intelektual dan cendekiawan. Seorang ilmuwan penting menjadikan etika dalam seluruh aktivitas keilmuwannya sehingga ilmu yang dikembangkannya bermanfaat untuk kemanusiaan. Strategi yang bisa ditempuh untuk pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan di Indonesia adalah membentuk masyarakat ilmiah, pengembangannya memperhatikan karakter bangsa Indonesia, memperhatikan relasi antarilmu tanpa mengorbankan otonomi antara masing-masing disiplin ilmu dan memperhatikan dimensi religius bangsa Indonesia. Tulisan ini diharapkan memberikan kontribusi dalam menyusun kerangka teori dan strategi praktis dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan di Indonesia. This paper discusses about strategies scientist in developing science in Indonesia. This topic important to discussed as a framework to build on the progress in Indonesia. An important aspect that can't be ignored for this process is ethics. Ethics is important as a foundation for creating knowledge and better civilization. This article data taken from the literature review prepared in accordance with the thought that the scientific method. This study found that there are three words that are often used interchangeably, namely scientists, intellectuals and scholars. Making ethics an important scientist in all scientific activities so that science is useful for the development of humanity. The strategies that can be applied to the development of science in Indonesia is establish the scientific community, development attention to the character of the Indonesian nation, pay attention to the relation between science without compromising the autonomy of the individual disciplines and pay attention to the religious dimension of the Indonesian nation. This paper is expected to contribute in developing a theoretical framework and practical strategies in the development of science in Indonesia

    Environmental theology is the science that discusses relationship between religion and nature is primarily concerned with environmental issues. Theology environment is a way to bring God into the ecological aspect. This conception appears as a response to the issue of environmental crises that occurred since the Middle Ages. In the theology perspective, environmental crisis that is currently going on can't be separated from human behavior is conscious or not have damaged the eco system of the earth so that a balance is threatened.This article seeks it by borrowing a concept of Seyyed Hossein Nasr poured in some of his magnum opus. Search of authors for works Nasr, in general the environmental crisis caused by modern human error of viewing the world. Modern humans are greedy and view the world solely as an object of scientific development also caused the loss of esoteric dimension. Nasr then give a solution that is appropriate nature is seen as a theophany; God's power mirrors and a haven for humans

    REPOSISI KONSEP KETUHANAN: TANGGAPAN MUHAMMAD IQBAL DAN SAID NURSI ATAS PERJUMPAAN ISLAM DAN SAINS

    Artikel ini menghadirkan dua cara pandang berbeda antara Muhammad Iqbal dan Said Nursi dalam upaya reposisi konsep ketuhanan saat Islam bertemu sains. Artikel ini memperlihatkan bagaimana Iqbal menerima sains dengan melakukan penyesuaian ajaran Islam agar sejalan dengan epistemologi sains dan rasionalisme dengan tetap merujuk pada al-Qur’an. Konsep ketuhanan teis yang dirasa tidak sesuai dengan rasionalisme dan perkembangan sains, mendapat sentuhan Iqbal dengan dikonstruksi menjadi konsep panentheisme. Sementara itu, Said Nursi, meskipun ia juga mendorong adopsi sains, namun Nursi hampir tidak melakukan penyesuaian apa pun dalam konsep ketuhanan Islam. Sebagai pewaris pemikiran al-Asy’ariyyah, justru Nursi memilah sains dalam dua kategori, yaitu sains yang memuat nilai positif dan sains yang memuat aspek negatif. Selanjutnya Nursi hanya mengambil aspek positif dan meninggalkan aspek negatifnya. Dengan menggunakan teori Ian Barbour, artikel ini memasukkan pendekatan Iqbal dalam kategori integrasi epistemologis, sedangkan pendekatan Said Nursi masuk dalam kategori integrasi ontologis.This article seeks to presents a distinct view of two Muslim thinkers on repositioning concept of God in the face of adoption to science. That is of Muhammad Iqbal’s and of Said Nursi’s. It shows that Iqbal used methods of reconstruction on Islamic theology in order for which go in line with scientific epistemology despite it remains strongly based on the Qur’an. Iqbal is of the view that theistic God of Islam appears to come in contrast to the rationalism and modern scientific approaches. For that reason, Iqbal changed this theistic God to be a panentheistic God of modern sciences. On the other side, Said Nursi urges Muslim community to adopt science as well, but—in contrast to Iqbal—he did almost nothing in reconstructing Islamic theology. As in heritor of the doctrines of Ash’arite, instead he classified modern science into two camps, that of the positive in term of Islamic interests and that of the negative. He adopts the positive one while keeping at bay the rest. Departing from Ian Barbour’s theory, this article categorizes Iqbal’s and Nursi’s adoption to science as integration. This article proposes that the method of Iqbal’s integration during his reconstruction on Islamic theology is an epistemological integration, meanwhile Nursi’s approach is ontological integration.</p

    Fiqh of Reciprocity (Exploring the Concept of Construction and Deconstruction of the Rights of Guardianship of Children; Perspectives of the Indonesian Islamic Marriage Registrar Association and the Indonesian Family Law Lecturers Association)

    This study aimed to reveal the essence of the rulings concerning guardianship in Islamic marriages through the construction and deconstruction of the perspectives of the Indonesian Family Law Lecturers Association (Asosiasi Dosen Hukum Keluarga Islam or ADHKI, Ind.) and the Indonesian Islamic Marriage Registrar Association (Asosiasi Penghulu Republik Indonesia or APRI, Ind.) based on the fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) of reciprocity. The underlying background was various cases of neglect of girls that lead to problems when they become adults and need guardians in their marriages. In such a situation, the main construction of the parents' responsibilities is closely related to the right to be the daughters' guardians: does it belong to the parents or to those who have been carrying out the responsibility of taking care of the daughters? This study, based on a qualitative method with a multi-site study basis and the formulation of the fiqh of reciprocity, was expected to spawn new opportunities in Islamic legal ijtihad regarding guardianship in marriage. This comprehensive and in-depth study found that 1) the construction of the guardianship of adopted children in the perspectives of APRI and ADHKI means that the essence of guardianship is to fulfill the needs and bear the lives of the children under the guardianship and 2) based on the point of views of APRI and ADHKI, the deconstruction in the concept of guardianship of adopted children by adoptive parents or those who become protectors of the children is based on a reinterpretation of the shari'ah texts, which show that guardianship must be of those who have nasab (lineage) paths or wali hakim (a Muslim judge as the marriage guardian), using a sociological approach, human rights, and the embodiment of justice (maslahah)

    Teacher is one of the most important aspects of the learning process. This important role requires teachers to continue to improve their performance in order to be able to provide the best learning. The various policies taken by the principal are expected to be able to improve the teacher performance. The six competencies of school principals, the supervisory competence must also be mastered by the principal. Teacher supervision is a process of guidance carried out by the principal of teachers and other school personnel who are responsible for the learning process so that students can learn effectively and increase learning achievement. This study uses a qualitative approach, a type of case study with a multicase design. The results showed that teacher supervision as the implementation of the principal's policy by providing administrative supervision and direct supervision, involving teachers in seminars, workshops or scientific discussions related to improving the quality of learning and forming a special supervision team to assist the principal's duties

    Management is a collaboration that involves all components in an educational organization so that it runs effectively and efficiently. Change management occupies an important position in rearranging educational organizations into different shapes, sizes, characteristics, and places so that educational organizations experience changes for the better in the future. This study aims to analyze and find change management in developing educational organizations at SMA Darul Ulum 2 Unggulan BPPT Jombang and MA Bertaraf Internasional, Amanatul Umah Pacet. This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological type and a multisite design. The results showed: the change design of educational organizations is; planned change, the force change, orientation and mission vision, preparing, unfreezing, change, and refreezing.&nbsp;Management of change with; motivation to realize high quality schools, coordination and communication, team work, socialization of the change agenda, mentoring, individual level changes, group level changes, organizational level changes through the POAC stage, namely: planing (integrated planning), organizing (organizing), actuating (implementing power full) and controlling. Followed by the leader's desire to continuously make changes (continuous improvement) based on billah to realize an output that has an advantage, reword. While the implications of changes in educational organizations include: internal implications and external implications.     Transformational leadership has a significant impact on the progress and development of educational institution achievements. Effective leadership of madrasah principals can create the realization of various progress and achievements. The substance of intellectual stimulation behavior is a form of effort to increase intelligence, rationality, and thorough problem solving. Transformational leaders need to invite members of educational organizations to see problems from a new, more comprehensive, and broad perspective, so that problems are not framed partially.
