    Son los profesionales de la enfermería, los  expertos en las estrategias relacionadas con el cuidado individual, familiar y grupal y el profesional con mayor cualificación en lo que se refiere a disponer de herramientas específicas sobre metodología persuasiva, educativa y participativa y por tanto , para plantear y dirigir las estrategias de autocuidados en  pacientes con diabetes tipo II. A partir de ello en este artículo se caracterizó el rol del profesional de enfermería en la educación para el autocuidado, a través de una metodologia de tipo documental y con un diseño bibliográfico. El corpus de la investigación estuvo constituido por aspectos teóricos relacionados con el rol de la enfermería en la educación para el autocuidado.  Los resultados del análisis hermenéutico permitieron deducir que el personal de la enfermería debe  mantener un sistema de atención basado en un modelo participativo, en el que los pacientes expresen sus opiniones sobre su enfermedad y decidan sobre las alternativas disponibles a seguir.They are nursing professionals, experts in individual, family and group care strategies and the most qualified professionals in terms of having specific tools on persuasive methodology, educational and participatory and therefore, to raise and direct self-care strategies in patients with type II diabetes. From this article, the role of the nursing professional in self-care education was characterized through a documentary methodology and a bibliographic design. The body of the research consisted of theoretical aspects related to the role of nursing in self-care education.  The results of the hermeneutic analysis made it possible to deduce that nursing staff should maintain a care system based on a participatory model, in which patients express their views on their disease and decide on alternatives available to follow

    El autocuidado como herramienta de atención primaria, necesita ser reforzado en la formación de los profesionales de Enfermería. Con base a esta premisa, se planteó en este artículo como objetivo evaluar el  autocuidado como herramienta de atención primaria en estudiantes del quinto al octavo semestre de la carrera de enfermería de la Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí. Para ello, el estudio siguio una metodologia descriptiva y cuasi experimental. La población la constituyeron 187 estudiantes del quinto al octavo semestre de la carrera de enfermería de la universidad  estatal del Sur de Manabí. La recolección de la información se realizó  a través de un instrumento tipo cuestionario, y el  análisis  fue la estadística descriptiva y  frecuencial. Entre sus conclusiones,  se pudo pudo constatar  que existe un  estado regular de atención al autocuidado entre los estudiantes  de la carrera de Enfermería a pesar de haber recibido conocimientos teóricos de esta herramienta.  Self-care as a primary care tool, needs to be strengthened in the training of Nursing professionals. Based on this premise, this article was raised to evaluate self-care as a primary care tool for students fifth through eighth semester of nursing career at Southern Manabí State University. To do this, the study followed a descriptive and quasi-experimental methodology. The population was made up of 187 students from the fifth to eighth semester of the nursing degree of the southern state university of South Manabí. The collection of the information was carried out through a questionnaire-like instrument, and the analysis was the descriptive and frequency statistics. Among her conclusions, it could be noted that there is a regular state of attention to self-care among students of the Nursing career despite having received theoretical knowledge of this tool.

    Self-care of health, basic in primary care, deserves to be reinforced in the training of Nursing professionals. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of a proposal for teaching self-care in primary health care (PHC) aimed at teachers and students of said career for the promotion of self-care. This analytical, longitudinal, and prospective study, with a pre-experimental design, was carried out at the Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí, in Ecuador. 187 5th and 8th grade students were selected. semesters and the total number of teachers (n: 14) who teach PHC-related subjects, in order to make a diagnosis of the level of knowledge about self-care, establish a competency profile and propose organized methodologies in a didactic proposal to be incorporated into Nursing career

    This article aimed to analyze the intervention of nursing in the self-care of type II diabetic patients during the first level of health. The methodology was documentary and descriptive. The population consisted of 45 diabetic patients belonging to the diabetic club of the "Daniel Acosta Rosales" type "B" Health Center.  Surveys and interviews were applied to obtain the information. The results led to the conclusion that the infirmary has a decisive role in the self-care of diabetic patients, by allowing to prevent, delay or decrease the likelihood of developing complications that have so much impact on the social sphere, of those affected as well as their family environment.El presente artículo tuvo como objetivo  analizar  la intervención de enfermería en  el autocuidado de pacientes diabéticos tipo II  durante el primer nivel de salud. La metodologia fue de tipo  documental y descriptivo. La población la constituyeron 45 pacientes diabéticos que pertenecen al club de diabéticos del Centro de Salud “Daniel Acosta Rosales” tipo “B”.  Para la obtención de la información se aplicaron encuestas y entrevistas. Los resultados permitieron concluir que la enfermería posee un rol determinante en el autocuidado de los pacientes diabéticos, al permitir  prevenir, retrasar o disminuir la probabilidad de desarrollar complicaciones que generan tanto impacto en el ámbito social, psicológico y económico de las personas afectadas como a su  entorno familiar

    Sociodemographic characteristics of the diabetic patient in the rural context of the province of Manabí, Ecuador

    La diabetes mellitus (DM) es un problema de salud con gran impacto que preocupa a profesionales sanitarios y a la sociedad en su conjunto. Con base a este precepto se evaluaron las características  demográficas de los pacientes con Diabetes mellitus tipo 2 que se atiende en los subcentros rurales de Manabí en Ecuador. La metodología fue de tipo descriptivo, transversal y prospectivo.La población la constituyeron 90  pacientes mayores de 18 años de edad.  Se utilizó como instrumento la primera parte del  Cuestionario sobre Capacidades de Autocuidado validado por Rodríguez y col (2º14). Los resultados presentan que el  75% tienen hasta 5 hijos; el 54% son del sexo femenino  y el 22% no alcanzaron a culminar la secundaria. Dentro de sus conclusiones se evidencio un predominio del sexo femenino y en muy alto porcentaje apenas poseen culminada la primaria y en el mejor de los casos no han culminado la secundaria completa.Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major health problem that concerns health professionals and society as a whole. Based on this provision, the demographic characteristics of patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the rural subcenters of Manabi in Ecuador were assessed.  The methodology was descriptive, cross-cutting and prospective. The population was made up of 90 patients over 18 years of age.  The first part of the Questionnaire on Self-Care Capabilities validated by Rodriguez et al (2nd14) was used as an instrument. Among its results is that 75% have up to 5 children; 54% are female and 22% did not reach high school. Within its conclusions there was a predominance of the female sex and in very high percentage barely have completed the primary and at best have not completed the full secondary.
