The Doppler Spectra of Medium Grazing Angle Sea Clutter; Part 1: Characterisation
This paper is concerned with the characterisation of Doppler spectra from high range resolution X-band radar sea clutter observed from an airborne platform over the range of grazing angles, 15° to 45°. It is observed that when looking up or down wind there is a strong correlation between mean Doppler shift and local spectrum intensity. When combined with random fluctuations of spectrum width, these characteristics give the spectra a temporal and spatial variability. This behaviour has previously been observed in low grazing angle data and these results confirm the wider applicability of the models developed using that data. The modelling method is also extended here to capture the bimodal behaviour observed with high intensity returns from breaking waves looking up or down-wind
Miocene deep-water agglutinated Foraminifera from ODP Hole 909c: Implications for the paleoceanography of the Fram Strait Area, Greenland Sea
Deep-water agglutinated Foraminifera (DWAF) are investigated from Miocene sediments recovered from ODP Hole 909C in the Fram Strait, Norwegian-Green land Sea. We studied 125 samples from Cores 909C-50R to -103R. and recovered over 60 species of DWAF. The faunal succession in Hole 909C is subdivided into three assemblages based on the stratigraphic ranges of characteristic cosmopolitan taxa. These are: (1) a diverse Reticulophraginium amplectens - Reophanus berggreni Assemblage in Cores 909C-100R-2 to -91R-1 (1040.71-952.78mbsf); (2) a Reticulophragmium amplectens Assemblage in Cores 909C-87R-2, to -71R-3 (915.7-762.68mbsf); and (3) a low-diversity Reticulophraginium rotundidorsatum Assemblage in Cores 909C-71R-1 to -55R-1 (759.68-605.52mbsf). The DWAF assemblages are correlated to the standard chronostratigraphy using dinoflagellate cysts and magnetostratigraphy. The stratigraphic ranges of some well-known Palcogene DWAF species extend far into the Miocene at this locality, confirming tire hypothesis that the Arctic and northern Norwegian Sea basins served as a refuge for these species long after they disappeared from the North Atlantic stratigraphic record. The taxonomic affinities of the Miocene assemblages from Hole 909C supports the idea that an estuarine Circulation pattern has been in place between the Arctic Ocean and Greenland Sea basins since at least the early Miocene. Changes in the benthic foraminiferal morphogroups within the R. rotundidorsatum Assemblage correlate with an increase in total organic carbon, indicating an increase in oceanic productivity in the Fram Strait region during the late Miocene
Nearly Mass-Degenerate Majorana Neutrinos: Double Beta Decay and Neutrino Oscillations
Assuming equal tree-level Majorana masses for the standard-model neutrinos,
either from the canonical seesaw mechanism or from a heavy scalar triplet, I
discuss how their radiative splitting may be relevant to neutrinoless double

Singlet fermion dark matter and electroweak baryogenesis with radiative neutrino mass
The model of radiative neutrino mass with dark matter proposed by one of us
is extended to include a real singlet scalar field. There are then two
important new consequences. One is the realistic possibility of having the
lightest neutral singlet fermion (instead of the lightest neutral component of
the dark scalar doublet) as the dark matter of the Universe. The other is a
modification of the effective Higgs potential of the Standard Model, consistent
with electroweak baryogenesis.Comment: 9 pages, no figure
Muscle Fatigue Analysis Using OpenSim
In this research, attempts are made to conduct concrete muscle fatigue
analysis of arbitrary motions on OpenSim, a digital human modeling platform. A
plug-in is written on the base of a muscle fatigue model, which makes it
possible to calculate the decline of force-output capability of each muscle
along time. The plug-in is tested on a three-dimensional, 29 degree-of-freedom
human model. Motion data is obtained by motion capturing during an arbitrary
running at a speed of 3.96 m/s. Ten muscles are selected for concrete analysis.
As a result, the force-output capability of these muscles reduced to 60%-70%
after 10 minutes' running, on a general basis. Erector spinae, which loses
39.2% of its maximal capability, is found to be more fatigue-exposed than the
others. The influence of subject attributes (fatigability) is evaluated and

High--Resolution 3D Simulations of Relativistic Jets
We have performed high-resolution 3D simulations of relativistic jets with
beam flow Lorentz factors up to 7, a spatial resolution of 8 cells per beam
radius, and for up to 75 normalized time units to study the morphology and
dynamics of 3D relativistic jets. Our simulations show that the coherent fast
backflows found in axisymmetric models are not present in 3D models. We further
find that when the jet is exposed to non-axisymmetric perturbations, (i) it
does not display the strong perturbations found for 3D classical hydrodynamic
and MHD jets (at least during the period of time covered by our simulations),
and (ii) it does propagate according to the 1D estimate. Small 3D effects in
the relativistic beam give rise to a lumpy distribution of apparent speeds like
that observed in M87. The beam is surrounded by a boundary layer of high

Effect of polymer concentration and length of hydrophobic end block on the unimer-micelle transition broadness in amphiphilic ABA symmetric triblock copolymer solutions
The effects of the length of each hydrophobic end block N_{st} and polymer
concentration \bar{\phi}_{P} on the transition broadness in amphiphilic ABA
symmetric triblock copolymer solutions are studied using the self-consistent
field lattice model. When the system is cooled, micelles are observed, i.e.,the
homogenous solution (unimer)-micelle transition occurs. When N_{st} is
increased, at fixed \bar{\phi}_{P}, micelles occur at higher temperature, and
the temperature-dependent range of micellar aggregation and half-width of
specific heat peak for unimer-micelle transition increase monotonously.
Compared with associative polymers, it is found that the magnitude of the
transition broadness is determined by the ratio of hydrophobic to hydrophilic
blocks, instead of chain length. When \bar{\phi}_{P} is decreased, given a
large N_{st}, the temperature-dependent range of micellar aggregation and
half-width of specific heat peak initially decease, and then remain nearly
constant. It is shown that the transition broadness is concerned with the
changes of the relative magnitudes of the eductions of nonstickers and solvents
