Bifurcation diagram and pattern formation in superconducting wires with electric currents
We examine the behavior of a one-dimensional superconducting wire exposed to
an applied electric current. We use the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau model to
describe the system and retain temperature and applied current as parameters.
Through a combination of spectral analysis, asymptotics and canonical numerical
computation, we divide this two-dimensional parameter space into a number of
regions. In some of them only the normal state or a stationary state or an
oscillatory state are stable, while in some of them two states are stable. One
of the most interesting features of the analysis is the evident collision of
real eigenvalues of the associated PT-symmetric linearization, leading as it
does to the emergence of complex elements of the spectrum. In particular this
provides an explanation to the emergence of a stable oscillatory state. We show
that part of the bifurcation diagram and many of the emerging patterns are
directly controlled by this spectrum, while other patterns arise due to
nonlinear interaction of the leading eigenfunctions
Melosh rotation: source of the proton's missing spin
It is shown that the observed small value of the integrated spin structure
function for protons could be naturally understood within the naive quark model
by considering the effect from Melosh rotation. The key to this problem lies in
the fact that the deep inelastic process probes the light-cone quarks rather
than the instant-form quarks, and that the spin of the proton is the sum of the
Melosh rotated light-cone spin of the individual quarks rather than simply the
sum of the light-cone spin of the quarks directly.Comment: 5 latex page
QCD Evolutions of Twist-3 Chirality-Odd Operators
We study the scale dependence of twist-3 distributions defined with
chirality-odd quark-gluon operators. To derive the scale dependence we
explicitly calculate these distributions of multi-parton states instead of a
hadron. Taking one-loop corrections into account we obtain the leading
evolution kernel in the most general case. In some special cases the evolutions
are simplified. We observe that the obtained kernel in general does not get
simplified in the large- limit in contrast to the case of those twist-3
distributions defined only with chirality-odd quark operators. In the later,
the simplification is significant.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure
Broadband RCS Reduction of Microstrip Patch Antenna Using Bandstop Frequency Selective Surface
In this article, a simple and effective approach is presented to reduce the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of microstrip patch antenna in ultra broad frequency band. This approach substitutes a metallic ground plane of a conventional patch antenna with a hybrid ground consisting of bandstop Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) cells with partial metallic plane. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach, the influence of different ground planes on antenna’s performance is investigated. Thus, a patch antenna with miniaturized FSS cells is proposed. The results suggest that this antenna shows 3dB RCS reduction almost in the whole out-of operating band within 1-20GHz for wide incident angles when compared to conventional antenna, while its radiation characteristics are sustained simultaneously. The reasonable agreement between the measured and the simulated results verifies the efficiency of the proposed approach. Moreover, this approach doesn’t alter the lightweight, low-profile, easy conformal and easy manufacturing nature of the original antenna and can be extended to obtain low-RCS antennas with metallic planes in broadband that are quite suitable for the applications which are sensitive to the variation of frequencies
Photon-meson transition form factors of light pseudoscalar mesons
The photon-meson transition form factors of light pseudoscalar mesons , , and are systematically calculated in a
light-cone framework, which is applicable as a light-cone quark model at low
and is also physically in accordance with the light-cone pQCD approach
at large . The calculated results agree with the available experimental
data at high energy scale. We also predict the low behaviors of the
photon-meson transition form factors of , and , which are measurable in process via Primakoff
effect at JLab and DESY.Comment: 22 Latex pages, 7 figures, Version to appear in PR
Nuclear modification factor in intermediate-energy heavy-ion collisions
The transverse momentum dependent nuclear modification factors (NMF), namely
, is investigated for protons produced in Au + Au at 1 GeV within
the framework of the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model.
It is found that the radial collective motion during the expansion stage
affects the NMF at low transverse momentum a lot. By fitting the transverse
mass spectra of protons with the distribution function from the Blast-Wave
model, the magnitude of radial flow can be extracted. After removing the
contribution from radial flow, the can be regarded as a thermal one
and is found to keep unitary at transverse momentum lower than 0.6 GeV/c and
enhance at higher transverse momentum, which can be attributed to Cronin
effect.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures; aceepted by Physics Letters
Pion-photon and photon-pion transition form factors in light-cone formalism
We derive the minimal Fock-state expansions of the pion and the photon wave
functions in light-cone formalism, then we calculate the pion-photon and the
photon-pion transition form factors of and
processes by employing these
quark-antiquark wave functions of the pion and the photon. We find that our
calculation for the transition form factor
agrees with the experimental data at low and moderately high energy scale.
Moreover, the physical differences and inherent connections between the
transition form factors of and have been illustrated, which indicate that these
two physical processes are intrinsically related. In addition, we also discuss
the form factor and the decay width at .Comment: 20 pages, 2 figure
Transverse-Momentum Dependent Factorization for gamma^* pi^0 to gamma
With a consistent definition of transverse-momentum dependent (TMD)
light-cone wave function, we show that the amplitude for the process can be factorized when the virtuality of the initial photon is
large. In contrast to the collinear factorization in which the amplitude is
factorized as a convolution of the standard light-cone wave function and a hard
part, the TMD factorization yields a convolution of a TMD light-cone wave
function, a soft factor and a hard part. We explicitly show that the TMD
factorization holds at one loop level. It is expected that the factorization
holds beyond one-loop level because the cancelation of soft divergences is on a
diagram-by-diagram basis. We also show that the TMD factorization helps to
resum large logarithms of type .Comment: Published version in Phys.Rev.D75:014014,200
