Nonvolatile bistable memory and Ising machine based on Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems
We propose nonvolatile binary stable states based on microelectromechanical
systems (MEMS). They may be used as MEMS memory, where the bistable memory is
the buckling direction of a plate of a capacitor. The binary memory is switched
by applying a voltage to the MEMS. Furthermore, we propose an Ising model by
making a series of buckled MEMS. It is a great merit of this mechanism that the
annealing process is automatically carried out due to the damping effect of the
spring. We find a duality relation between the parallel-plate MEMS under
constant-voltage condition and the comb-teeth MEMS under constant-charge
condition.Comment: 8 pages, 10 figure

A facile coplanar reverse electrowetting-ondielectric configuration for more flexible and integratable force/motion sensing applications
Reverse electrowetting on dielectric (REWOD) has been a reliable approach to harvesting energy from low frequency excitations. Previous studies have looked at applying this technology to power various types of sensors using a twoplate electrode structure. This study aims to use REWOD for direct sensing applications using a single plate coplanar structure. The single electrode structure allows for better versatility in materials and applications, as well as making it easier for transportation
