    L'Offerta ricettiva e la domanda turistica negli ambiti di paesaggio costieri del Nord Sardegna

    Il Piano paesaggistico regionale (sinteticamente denominato PPR) è stato predisposto e approvato dalla Regione Autonoma della Sardegna con decreto del presidente 7 settembre 2006, n. 82, pubblicato nel "BURAS", n. 30 dell'8 settembre 2006. Il Piano, comprensivo delle relative norme tecniche di attuazione, ha identificato 27 ambiti di paesaggio costieri attribuendo a ciascuno una denominazione e numerandoli da l a 27 a partire, in senso orario, dall'ambito "Golfo di Cagliari". Oggetto della presente analisi sono gli ambiti numero 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 e 19, denominati rispettivamente: "Monteleone", "Alghero", "Golfo dell'Asinara", "Bassa valle del Coghinas", "Gallura costiera nordoccidentale", "Gallura costiera nord-orientale", "Golfo di Olbia" e "Budoni-San Teodoro". Questi, da "Monteleone" (n. 12) a "Budoni-San Teodoro" (n. 19), segnano un'area che si estende a nord dell'isola, dalle falesie di porto Managu, sul Mar di Sardegna e nel comune di Bosa, sino al promontorio di punta la Batteria, proteso verso il mar Tirreno, nel comune di Budoni. L'estensione dell'insieme dei succitati ambiti, pari quasi a 3.150 km2 corrisponde a circa il 31% di quella totale degli ambiti costieri previsti dallo stesso PPR

    Amélioration des performances d'un avon régional par l'utilisation de riblets et de la technologie NLF

    International audienceThe application of riblets on a typical regional turboprop configuration is discussed in this paper. The effect of the riblets is modeled as a singular roughness problem by a proper boundary condition at the wall. The model, already proposed in a previous paper, is briefly described. The drag prediction capabilities are verified by showing some airfoil flow applications. Then a typical wing-body of a regional aircraft is considered. The configuration has been designed to have extended natural laminar flow in cruise conditions. Riblets are applied at flow specifications representative of cruise in combination with the natural laminar flow technology and in climb/descent conditions. A comparison of the two technologies in terms of drag reduction is presented. Their combined application can result in a cruise drag reduction of more than 20%. The resulting fuel savings during a typical operational day are evaluated

    This review is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Domenico Mariotti, who significantly contributed to establishing the Italian research community in Agricultural Genetics and carried out the first experiments of Agrobacterium-mediated plant genetic transformation and regeneration in Italy during the 1980s. Following his scientific interests as guiding principles, this review summarizes the recent advances obtained in plant biotechnology and fundamental research aiming to: (i) Exploit in vitro plant cell and tissue cultures to induce genetic variability and to produce useful metabolites; (ii) gain new insights into the biochemical function of Agrobacterium rhizogenes rol genes and their application to metabolite production, fruit tree transformation, and reverse genetics; (iii) improve genetic transformation in legume species, most of them recalcitrant to regeneration; (iv) untangle the potential of KNOTTED1-like homeobox (KNOX) transcription factors in plant morphogenesis as key regulators of hormonal homeostasis; and (v) elucidate the molecular mechanisms of the transition from juvenility to the adult phase in Prunus tree species

    Cryopreservation of adipose tissue with and without cryoprotective agent addition for breast lipofilling: A cytological and histological study.

    Abstract In the second reconstructive phase of the breast after mastectomy, lipofilling is often necessary. Currently, lipofilling occurs immediately after autologous adipose tissue harvesting procedure, but most of the patients, usually, require multiple sessions to obtain a satisfactory result. Therefore, the need of repeated surgical harvesting outputs implies high risk of patients' morbidity and discomfort as well as increasing medical time and costs. The aim of our pilot study was to find out a feasible method to cryopreserve adipose tissue, in order to avoid reiterated liposuctions. Lipoaspirates samples have been harvested from 10 women and preserved by three methods: (1) the first one, using 10% Me2SO and 20% human albumin from human plasma as cryoprotective agents; (2) the second one, adding 5% Me2SO as cryoprotective agent; 3) the last one, without any cryoprotective agent. Fresh and cryopreserved fat samples, obtained through the aforementioned processes, have been analyzed ex vivo. The efficiency of the cryopreservation methods used was determined by adipocyte viability and the expression of adipocytes surface markers. Lipoaspirates stored at −196 °C for 3 months, after thawing, retained comparable adipocyte viability and histology to fresh tissue and no significant differences were found between the three methods used. Although the current results, differences between the methodologies in terms of viability may not become evident until breast lipofilling using frozen-thawed cryopreserved tissue

    High innate attractiveness to black targets in the blue blowfly, Calliphora vomitoria (L.) (Diptera: Calliphoridae)

    Calliphora vomitoria is a myiasis-causing fly in many animal species including humans. The control of blowflies is still anchored on the use of chemicals. However, mass trapping and lure-and-kill techniques represent a promising alternative to pesticides. Visual and olfactory cues are the main stimuli routing the fly's landing behavior. Notably, color attractiveness has been barely explored in flies of medical and veterinary importance, with special reference to blowflies. In this study, we investigated the innate color preferences in C. vomitoria adults, testing binary combinations of painted targets under laboratory conditions. The identity of tested species C. vomitoria was confirmed by DNA sequencing (18S and cox1 genes). C. vomitoria flies showed a significant preference for black colored targets in all tested binary color combinations, after 5, 15, 30 and 60 min of exposure. Black targets were significantly preferred over blue, red, yellow and white ones. Spectral characteristics of all tested color combinations were quantified and the innate attraction of blowflies towards black targets was discussed in relation to their behavioral ecology. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on innate color preferences in the Calliphora genus. Our findings can be useful to develop new, cheap and reliable monitoring traps as well as â\u80\u9clure and killâ\u80\u9d tools to control blowfly pests

    Real-time three dimensional transesophageal echocardiography: technical aspects and clinical applications

    Real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (RT3DTEE) is now commonly used in daily clinical practice. The transesophageal, compared to the transthoracic approach, allows the visualization of the whole spectrum of the mitral valve apparatus and the posterior cardiac structures. Moreover, images obtained by RT 3D TEE provide a unique and complete visualization of the mitral valve prosthetic elements. Indeed, the possibility to visualize guidewires and catheters in cardiac chambers and their relationship with cardiac structures during percutaneous transcatheter procedures reduces the time of radiation exposure and simplifies the approach becoming the reference method for monitoring. This review aims to underline the potential clinical applications and the advantages of RT3DTEE compared to other methods

    Peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] KNOPE1, a class 1 KNOX orthologue to Arabidopsis BREVIPEDICELLUS/KNAT1, is misexpressed during hyperplasia of leaf curl disease

    Class 1 KNOTTED-like (KNOX) transcription factors control cell meristematic identity. An investigation was carried out to determine whether they maintain this function in peach plants and might act in leaf curliness caused by the ascomycete Taphrina deformans. KNOPE1 function was assessed by overexpression in Arabidopsis and by yeast two-hybrid assays with Arabidopsis BELL proteins. Subsequently, KNOPE1 mRNA and zeatin localization was monitored during leaf curl disease. KNOPE1 and Arabidopsis BREVIPEDICELLUS (BP) proteins fell into the same phyletic group and recognized the same BELL factors. 35S:KNOPE1 Arabidopsis lines exhibited altered traits resembling those of BP-overexpressing lines. In peach shoot apical meristem, KNOPE1 was expressed in the peripheral and central zones but not in leaf primordia, identically to the BP expression pattern. These results strongly suggest that KNOPE1 must be down-regulated for leaf initiation and that it can control cell meristem identity equally as well as all class 1 KNOX genes. Leaves attacked by T. deformans share histological alterations with class 1 KNOX-overexpressing leaves, including cell proliferation and loss of cell differentiation. Both KNOPE1 and a cytokinin synthesis ISOPENTENYLTRANSFERASE gene were found to be up-regulated in infected curled leaves. At early disease stages, KNOPE1 was uniquely triggered in the palisade cells interacting with subepidermal mycelium, while zeatin vascular localization was unaltered compared with healthy leaves. Subsequently, when mycelium colonization and asci development occurred, both KNOPE1 and zeatin signals were scattered in sectors of cell disorders. These results suggest that KNOPE1 misexpression and de novo zeatin synthesis of host origin might participate in hyperplasia of leaf curl disease

    Lamin A/C Missense Mutation R216C Pinpoints Overlapping Features Between Brugada Syndrome and Laminopathies

    A 31-year-old man experienced at-rest cardiac arrest. After successful resuscitation, the baseline ECG demonstrated sinus rhythm with concave ST segment elevation in right precordial leads (V1–V3) followed by a negative and symmetrical T-wave. Neither coronary artery disease nor electrolytes’ imbalances were detected. In the following days, ECG showed a spontaneous type 1 Brugada ECG pattern (Figure [A1]), more evident with right precordial leads in II and III intercostal spaces. Transthoracic echocardiography (Figure [A2]) failed to show any cardiomyopathy. Cardiac MRI showed normal chambers dimension, wall thickness, volume, and function (left ventricular end diastolic volume, 67.7 mL/m2; IVS, 1 cm; left ventricular end fraction, 59.7%). Late gadolinium enhancement sequences were negative; adipose and fibrous tissue infiltration were excluded. The patient was implanted with a transvenous single chamber cardioverter defibrillator (Medtronic). Several appropriate ICD interventions on VT and ventricular fibrillation were recorded in the following years. Family history (Figure [B]) was positive for sudden cardiac death: the maternal grandfather died at age 45 years, aII degree maternal cousin died during sleep at age 40 years. The proband’s mother showed a first degree atrioventricular block (PR interval=280 ms) and right bundle branch block (Figure [A3]). A neurological examination in the index case and his mother was negative and creatine phosphokinase levels were normal in both. Informed written consent was obtained from all family members. Study was approved by the Local Ethics Committee (152/2013/O/Oss, June 1, 2013). Molecular genetic analysis was performed by next generation sequencing using PED MASTR Plus assay comprising 52 cardiac electrical disorders related genes, SCN5A included (www.agilent.com)

    : Life sustains itself using energy generated by thermodynamic disequilibria, commonly existing as redox disequilibria. Metals are significant players in controlling redox reactions, as they are essential components of the engine that life uses to tap into the thermodynamic disequilibria necessary for metabolism. The number of proteins that evolved to catalyze redox reactions is extraordinary, as is the diversification level of metal cofactors and catalytic domain structures involved. Notwithstanding the importance of the topic, the relationship between metals and the redox reactions they are involved in has been poorly explored. This work reviews the structure and function of different prokaryotic organometallic-protein complexes, highlighting their pivotal role in controlling biogeochemistry. We focus on a specific subset of metal-containing oxidoreductases (EC1 or EC7.1), which are directly involved in biogeochemical cycles, i.e., at least one substrate or product is a small inorganic molecule that is or can be exchanged with the environment. Based on these inclusion criteria, we select and report 59 metalloenzymes, describing the organometallic structure of their active sites, the redox reactions in which they are involved, and their biogeochemical roles
