Fixed point index and braid invariant for fixed points of embeddings on the disk
AbstractWe consider an orientation-preserving embedding of a 2-dimensional disk to itself having finitely many fixed points. Some results are obtained which are concerned with the relationship between the fixed point index and the braid invariant of fixed points. These results are applied to obtain sufficient conditions which guarantee a collection of fixed points to contain an unstable one
Leukemia autopsies in Japan
For the purpose to know whether the annual increase of leukemia incidence in Japan is due to some leukemogenic factors or due to the increased detection
rate, the authors made some statistical survey of autopsy cases in which the
diagnosis is reliable and not any type of leukemias escape the detection. The
results showed that acute leukemias, which are found mostly in younger age, is
actually increasing. In addition, it has been deduced that among the suspected
factors the increase in ionizing radiation will be one of the most probable factors
for the increase in leukemia incidence</p
Sensitive Photodynamic Detection of Adult T-cell Leukemia/Lymphoma and Specific Leukemic Cell Death Induced by Photodynamic Therapy: Current Status in Hematopoietic Malignancies
Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL), an aggressive type of T-cell malignancy, is caused by the human T-cell leukemia virus type I (HTLV-1) infections. The outcomes, following therapeutic interventions for ATL, have not been satisfactory. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) exerts selective cytotoxic activity against malignant cells, as it is considered a minimally invasive therapeutic procedure. In PDT, photosensitizing agent administration is followed by irradiation at an absorbance wavelength of the sensitizer in the presence of oxygen, with ultimate direct tumor cell death, microvasculature injury, and induced local inflammatory reaction. This review provides an overview of the present status and state-of-the-art ATL treatments. It also focuses on the photodynamic detection (PDD) of hematopoietic malignancies and the recent progress of 5-Aminolevulinic acid (ALA)-PDT/PDD, which can efficiently induce ATL leukemic cell-specific death with minor influence on normal lymphocytes. Further consideration of the ALA-PDT/PDD system along with the circulatory system regarding the clinical application in ATL and others will be discussed. ALA-PDT/PDD can be promising as a novel treatment modality that overcomes unmet medical needs with the optimization of PDT parameters to increase the effectiveness of the tumor-killing activity and enhance the innate and adaptive anti-tumor immune responses by the optimized immunogenic cell death
On correlations and mutual entropy in quantum composed systems
We study the correlations of classical and quantum systems from the
information theoretical points of view. We analyze a simple measure of
correlations based on entropy (such measure was already investigated as the
degree of entanglement by Belavkin, Matsuoka and Ohya). Contrary to naive
expectation, it is shown that separable state might possesses stronger
correlation than an entangled state
Neutrino masses and terms in a supersymmetric extra U(1) model
We propose a supersymmetric extra U(1) model, which can generate small
neutrino masses and necessary terms, simultaneously. Fields including
quarks and leptons are embedded in three s of in a different
way among generations. The model has an extra U(1) gauge symmetry at TeV
regions, which has discriminating features from other models studied
previously. Since a neutrino mass matrix induced in the model has a constrained
texture with limited parameters, it can give a prediction. If we impose
neutrino oscillation data to fix those parameters, a value of
can be determined. We also discuss several phenomenological features which are
