Nuclear response for the Skyrme effective interaction with zero-range tensor terms. III. Neutron matter and neutrino propagation
The formalism of the linear response for the Skyrme energy density functional
including tensor terms derived in articles [1,2] for nuclear matter is applied
here to the case of pure neutron matter. As in article [2] we present
analytical results for the response function in all channels, the Landau
parameters and the odd-power sum rules. Special emphasis is given to the
inverse energy weighted sum rule because it can be used to detect non physical
instabilities. Typical examples are discussed and numerical results shown.
Moreover, as a direct application, neutrino propagation in neutron matter is
investigated through its neutrino mean free path at zero temperature. This
quantity turns out to be very sensitive to the tensor terms of the Skyrme
energy density functional
A note on the relationship between rational and trigonometric solutions of the WDVV equations
Legendre transformations provide a natural symmetry on the space of solutions to the WDVV equations, and more specifically, between different Frobenius manifolds. In this paper a twisted Legendre transformation is constructed between solutions which define the corresponding dual Frobenius manifolds. As an application it is shown that certain trigonometric and rational solutions of the WDVV equations are related by such a twisted Legendre transform
From refined estimates for spherical harmonics to a sharp multiplier theorem on the Grushin sphere
We prove a sharp multiplier theorem of MihlinâHörmander type for the Grushin operator on the unit sphere in R 3 , and a corresponding boundedness result for the associated BochnerâRiesz means. The proof hinges on precise pointwise bounds for spherical harmonics
N=4 Mechanics, WDVV Equations and Polytopes
N=4 superconformal n-particle quantum mechanics on the real line is governed
by two prepotentials, U and F, which obey a system of partial nonlinear
differential equations generalizing the Witten-Dijkgraaf-Verlinde-Verlinde
(WDVV) equation for F. The solutions are encoded by the finite Coxeter systems
and certain deformations thereof, which can be encoded by particular polytopes.
We provide A_n and B_3 examples in some detail. Turning on the prepotential U
in a given F background is very constrained for more than three particles and
nonzero central charge. The standard ansatz for U is shown to fail for all
finite Coxeter systems. Three-particle models are more flexible and based on
the dihedral root systems.Comment: Talk at ISQS-17 in Prague, 19-21 June 2008, and at Group-27 in

Spectral multipliers for the Kohn Laplacian on forms on the sphere in Cn
The unit sphere S in Cn is equipped with the tangential CauchyâRiemann complex and the associated Laplacian ⥠b. We prove a Hörmander spectral multiplier theorem for ⥠b with critical index n- 1 / 2 , that is, half the topological dimension of S. Our proof is mainly based on representation theory and on a detailed analysis of the spaces of differential forms on S
Private hospital energy performance benchmarking using energy audit data: an Italian case study
The increased focus on energy efficiency, both at the national and international levels, has fostered the diffusion and development of specific energy consumption benchmarks for most relevant economic sectors. In this context, energy-intensive facilities, such as hospitals and health structures, represent a unique case. Indeed, despite the high energy consumption of these structures, scientific literature lacks the presence of adequate energy performance benchmarks, especially in regard to the European context. Thus, this study aimed at defining energy benchmark indicators for the Italian private healthcare sector using data collected from the Italian mandatory energy audits according to Art.8 EU Directive 27/2012. The benchmark indicatorsâ definition was made using a methodology proposed by the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA). This methodology provided the calculation of specific energy performance indicators (EnPIs) by considering the global energy consumption of the different sites and the sectorâs relevant variables. The results obtained were compared with those obtained from a consolidated but more complex methodology: the one envisaged by the Environmental Protection Agency. The results obtained allowed us to validate the reliability of the proposed methodology, as well as the validity and future usability of the calculated indicators. Relying on a significant database containing actual data from recent energy audits, this study was thus able to provide an up-to-date and reliable benchmark for the private healthcare sector
Peptide profiling and biological activities of 12- month ripened parmigiano reggiano cheese
Proteolysis degree, biological activities, and water-soluble peptide patterns were evaluated in 12 month-ripened Parmigiano Reggiano (PR) cheeses collected in different dairy farms and showing different salt and fat content. Samples classified in high-salt and high-fat group (HH) generally showed lower proteolysis degree than samples having low-salt and low-fat content (LL). This positive correlation between salt/fat reduction and proteolysis was also confirmed by the analysis of biological activities, as the LL group showed higher average values of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitory and antioxidant activities. UHPLC/HR-MS allowed the identification of 805 unique peptides: LL and HH groups shared 59.3% of these peptides, while 20.9% and 19.9% were LL and HH specific, respectively. Frequency analysis of peptides identified a core of 183 peptides typical of 12-month ripened PR cheeses (corresponding to the 22.7% of total peptides), but no significant differences were detected in peptide patterns between LL and HH groups. Forty bioactive peptides, including 18 ACE-inhibitors and 12 anti-microbial peptides, were identified, of which 25 firstly found in PR cheese. Globally, this work contributed to unraveling the potentially healthy benefits of peptides fraction in PR cheese and provided prior evidence that PR with reduced at/salt content showed the highest antihypertensive and antioxidant activities
