Mucoepidermoid carcinoma, one type of malignant tumor of the salivary glands, is composed of mucous, squamous, intermediate and clear cells, and mainly occurs in the major salivary glands, especially the parotid gland (60%) and in the minor salivary glands (30%). Clinically, mucoepidermoid carcinoma from originating in the salivary gland of palate is rare. We report a study of mucoepidermoid carcinoma which is composed of clear cells, that occured in the center of palate. A 67-year-old male was referred to our hospital because of mass of his palate. The panorama X-ray and the computed tomography clearly showed a monolocular radiolucent lesion. Biopsy specimen was suspected to be a mucoepidermoid carcinoma. We removed the tumor and partial maxilla under general anesthesia. Histologically, the tumor mainly consisted of clear, mucous, squamous cells, and the histopathologic diagnosis was mucoepidermoid carcinoma. The patient\u27s postoperative course has been good, with no evidence of recurrence as of about one and a half years after the operation

The etiology of temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) remains unclear, despite recent progress in several diagnostic methods. To obtain more information on this disease, we performed a clinical evaluation of 164 patients with TMD, who visited our department during one year from April 2004 to March 2005. The patients consisted of 60 males and 104 females, and the ratio of males to females was 1: 1.73. The distribution of age groups had one peak in the age group of 20 to 29 years old. The type distribution in our cases was as follows: Type III a was most frequent (46.3%), followed by Type I (18.7%), TypeIII b (16.8%), and Others (17.7%). The treatment methods of the patients, who visited our department during the investigation were all conservative treatment. Almost all cases showed some improvement or disappearance in their symptoms
