Diversity of coronary arterial tree in laboratory mice
Background: Research on the development and topography of mouse coronary arteries has been conducted for many years. Patterns of the course of these vessels have been described in various mouse strains. Our research focused on hearts of MIZZ mice.
Materials and methods: We visualised the coronary artery system by means of latex dye perfusion via the aorta. The injected latex did not reach the capillary vessel system.
Results: The heart of MIZZ mice is supplied with blood by two main coronary arteries: the right and the left one. They deliver blood to the right and left part of the heart, respectively. The right coronary artery arises from the right sinus of the aorta and the left coronary artery from the left sinus. The interventricular septum is usually supplied by the septal artery, which is the main branch of the right coronary artery. All arteries of the coronary system run intramurally. The number of branches and the location of their ostia differed among the examined individuals.
Conclusions: Detailed information about the normal topography of coronary arteries, the number and course of their branches, as well as the area of the heart which is vascularised by these vessels constitutes the basic knowledge necessary to conduct further experiments
Changes in EMG and Finger Force with Repeated Hangs from the Hands in Rock Climbers
The nature and degree of fatigue in muscles that control finger position during repeated sustained efforts in rock climbing have not been described. The purpose of this study was to identify changes in maximum hang time and forearm electromyogram (EMG) during repeated maximum duration hangs from a simulated rock feature. A second objective was to determine the effect of different recovery times between hangs upon changes in finger force. Five experienced rock climbers performed 2 test sessions on different days in a randomized order. Each session involved 8 repetitions of a maximum duration hang with either 1 min (R1) or 3 min (R3) resting recovery between hangs. Finger force (FF) was measured for the right hand via a piezoelectric force sensor fitted with a plate to accept the distal digits of four fingers. Peak EMG (EMGPK) and EMG Area (EMGAREA) were recorded from the anterior forearm for each hang and standardized as percent of maximum FF EMG prior to statistical analysis. Hang duration progressively decreased over repetitions but tended to plateau around repetition 5 for both R1 and R3 conditions. A significant difference was found for both recovery conditions and repetitions (p\u3c.05) as well as a significant interaction of the two factors (p\u3c.05) for hang duration. There were no significant differences for EMGPK among repetitions or between recovery conditions (p\u3e.05). EMGAREA decreased initially with repeated hangs during both R1 and R3 but this trend tended to plateau at repetition 3 for the R3 condition. A significant difference was found in EMGAREA for both recovery conditions and trials (p\u3c.05) as well as a significant interaction of the two factors (p\u3c.05). Mean FF decreased between pre- and post-hangs for both R1 and R3 however the difference was not significant. It was concluded that the overall decline in hang time is less with 3 min recovery vs 1 min recovery between hangs. Peak EMG does not appear to change despite this evidence of fatigue. A 3 min recovery interval between hang repetitions decreases the magnitude of fatigue experienced and enables a greater EMGAREA per hang

compliance as governmental bodies, institutional and private investors introduced a âtsunamiâ of financial regulations. Adopting a multi-level analysis, this study examines how regulatory technology was used by financial firms to meet their compliance obligations, pre- and post-crisis. Empirical data collected over 12 years examine the deployment of
an investment management system in eight financial firms. Interviews with public regulatory bodies, financial
institutions and technology providers reveal a culture of compliance with increased transparency, surveillance and
accountability. Findings show that dialectic tensions arise as the pursuit of transparency, surveillance and
accountability in compliance mandates is simultaneously rationalized, facilitated and obscured by regulatory
technology. Responding to these challenges, regulatory bodies continue to impose revised compliance mandates on
financial firms to force them to adapt their financial technologies in an ever-changing multi-jurisdictional regulatory landscape

Photodissociation dynamics of CH3I probed via multiphoton ionisation photoelectron spectroscopy
The dissociation dynamics of CH3I is investigated on the red (269 nm) and blue (255 nm) side of the absorption maximum of the A-band. Using a multiphoton ionisation probe in a time-resolved photoelectron imaging experiment we observe very different dynamics at the two wavelengths, with significant differences in the measured lifetime and dynamic structure. The differences are explained in terms of changes in excitation cross-sections of the accessible 3Q0 and 1Q1 states and the subsequent dynamics upon each of them. The measurements support the existing literature on the rapid dissociation dynamics on the red side of the absorption maximum at 269 nm which is dominated by the dynamics along the 3Q0 state. At 255 nm we observe similar dynamics along the 3Q0 state but also a significant contribution from the 1Q1 state. The dynamics along the 1Q1 potential show a more complex structure in the photoelectron spectrum and a significantly increased lifetime, indicative of a more complex reaction pathway
Density of Gr1-positive myeloid precursor cells, p-STAT3 expression and gene expression pattern in canine mammary cancer metastasis
The very recent studies on human and mice models have indicated an important role of myeloid precursor cells (progenitors or not fully differentiated cells that express the Gr1 antigen also called Gr1-positive myeloid suppressor cells) in the tumor progression and metastasis. They are thought to suppress the immune system and promote angiogenesis via Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) activation. As of now there is no data available on the correlation of Gr1-positive cell number, phosphorylated STAT3 (p-STAT3) expression and cancer ability to metastasis. Thus, we counted the myeloid precursor cell number and analyzed p-STAT3 expression in 50 canine mammary tumors that gave local/distant metastases and did not metastasize. We showed that the number of Gr1-positive cells and p-STAT3 expression are significantly higher (pâ<â0.001) in the metastatic tumors than in the non-metastatic ones. We also observed higher expression of p-STAT3 in the canine mammary cancer cell lines with metastatic potential than in other cell lines (pâ<â0.001). Moreover, the number of myeloid precursors and p-STAT3 expression in metastatic tumors correlate strongly. The tumor infiltrating myeloid precursor cells may invigorate the STAT3 activity (probably via vascular endothelial growth factor â VEGF) that contributes to the tumor angiogenesis and furthermore tumor`s ability to metastasize. The analysis of gene expression in canine mammary cancer cell lines with metastatic potential indicated that semaphorin 3B (SEMA3B) and neuropilin receptors (NRP) may also be important elements in this process. Thus, we discuss the possible interactions within the tumor that may be required for cancer metastatis
Conceptual Foundations for a Service-oriented Knowledge and Learning Architecture: Supporting Content, Process and Ontology Maturing
Abstract: The knowledge maturing model views learning activities as embedded into, interwoven with, and even indistinguishable from everyday work processes. Learning is understood as an inherently social and collaborative activity. The Knowledge Maturing Process Model structures this process into five phases: expressing ideas, distributing in communities, formalizing, ad-hoc learning and standardization. It is applicable not only for content but also to process knowledge and semantics. In the MATURE IP two toolsets will be develop that support the maturing process: a personal learning environment and an organisation learning environment integrating the levels of individuals, communities and organisation. The development is guided by the SER theory of seeding, evolutionary growth and reseeding and is based on generally applicable maturing services
Diet-Induced Changes in n-3- and n-6-Derived Endocannabinoids and Reductions in Headache Pain and Psychological Distress
Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are biosynthetic precursors to endocannabinoids with antinociceptive, anxiolytic, and neurogenic properties. We recently reported that targeted dietary manipulationâincreasing omega-3 fatty acids while reducing omega-6 linoleic acid (the H3-L6 intervention)âreduced headache pain and psychological distress among chronic headache patients. It is not yet known whether these clinical improvements were due to changes in endocannabinoids and related mediators derived from omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. We therefore used data from this trial (n=55) to investigate (1) whether the H3-L6 intervention altered omega-3 and omega-6 derived endocannabinoids in plasma, and (2) whether diet-induced changes in these bioactive lipids were associated with clinical improvements. The H3-L6 intervention significantly increased the omega-3 docosahexaenoic acid derivatives 2-docosahexaenoylglycerol (+65%, p<0.001) and docosahexaenoylethanolamine (+99%, p<0.001), and reduced the omega-6 arachidonic acid derivative 2-arachidonoylglycerol (-25%, p=0.001). Diet-induced changes in these endocannabinoid derivatives of omega-3 docosahexaenoic acid, but not omega-6 arachidonic acid, correlated with reductions in physical pain and psychological distress. These findings demonstrate that targeted dietary manipulation can alter endocannabinoids derived from omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in humans, and suggest that 2-docosahexaenoylglycerol and docosahexaenoylethanolamine could have physical and/or psychological pain modulating properties. Untangling knowledge creation and knowledge integration in enterprise wikis
A central challenge organizations face is how to build, store, and maintain knowledge over time. Enterprise wikis are community-based knowledge systems situated in an organizational context. These systems have the potential to play an important role in managing knowledge within organizations, but the motivating factors that drive individuals to contribute their knowledge to these systems is not very well understood. We theorize that enterprise wiki initiatives require two separate and distinct types of knowledge-sharing behaviors to succeed: knowledge creation (KC) and knowledge integration (KI). We examine a Wiki initiative at a major German bank to untangle the motivating factors behind KC and KI. Our results suggest KC and KI are indeed two distinct behaviors, reconcile inconsistent findings from past studies on the role of motivational factors for knowledge sharing to establish shared electronic knowledge resources in organizations, and identify factors that can be leveraged to tilt behaviors in favor of KC or KI
