Research Areas: Parasitology ; ZoologyThis paper reports three recovered species of digeneans from an adult loggerhead sea turtle - Caretta caretta (Testudines, Cheloniidae) in Brazil. These trematodes include Diaschistorchis pandus (Pronocephalidae), Cymatocarpus solearis (Brachycoeliidae) and Rhytidodes gelatinosus (Rhytidodidae) The fi rst two represent new geographic records. A list of helminths reported from the Neotropical region, Gulf of Mexico and USA (Florida) is presented.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Drinking water and biofilm disinfection by Fenton-like reaction

    No full text
International audienceA Fenton-like disinfection process was conducted with Fenton's reagent (H2O2) at pH 3 or 5 on autochthonous drinking water biofilms grown on corroded or non-corroded pipe material. The biofilm disinfection by Fenton-like oxidation was limited by the low content of iron and copper in the biomass grown on non-corroded plumbing. It was slightly improved by spiking the distribution system with some additional iron source (soluble iron II or ferrihydrite particles appeared as interesting candidates). However successful in situ disinfection of biofilms was only achieved in fully corroded cast iron pipes using H2O2 and adjusting the pH to 5. These new results provide additional support for the use of Fenton's processes for cleaning drinking water distribution systems contaminated with biological agents or organics

Heterogeneous Fenton's reaction : a promising way for drinking water biofilm disinfection

International audienceOne of the most promising methods emerging from the European FP7 project SecurEau for drinking water distribution system disinfection is based on Fenton's reaction. This reaction appears as a non‐expensive and friendly environmental method. The process is known to generate powerful oxidative species as hydroxyl radicals HO. through a succession of reactions involving iron and hydrogen peroxide at acidic pH
