PROPHYLAXIS OF PNEUMOCOCCAL INFECTION IN CHILDREN HAS POSITIVE EFFECT ON ALL POPULATION

    No full text
Modern data of effectiveness prophylaxis of pneumococcal infection in children younger 1 year old with vaccine is presented in this article. Including of 7 - valency pneumococcal conjugated vaccine (PCV-7) in immunization program of some countries resulted in decrease of morbidity as in vaccinated group, as in all population. It was marked that vaccination with PCV-7 plays important pathogenetic role in termination of hidden forms of disease and prevention of spreading of pneumococcal infection, including the most severe types, hardly treated with antibiotics.Key words: children, pneumococcal infection, vaccination.</strong

EVOLUTION OF VACCINE PREVENTION — IMPROVEMENT TO DEFENCES AGAINST PNEUMOCOCCUS

In March 2010, the International Symposium on Pneumococci and Pneumococcal Diseases was held in Tel-Aviv. Experts from 70 countries across the world gathered to discuss the latest scientific advances related to epidemiology and diagnostics, treatment and prevention of the pneumococcal infection. The latest achievements in microbiology and genetics helped discover the «genetic» portrait of S. pneumoniae and assess its phenotypic properties. Pneumococcal infection, which is a leading cause of death throughout the world, is vaccine-controlled. Multiple scientific studies conducted in different parts of the world reliably confirmed the safety, immunogenicity and efficacy of currently available pneumococcal vaccines and related vaccination schedules. An ongoing exchange of knowledge about pneumococcus is required to optimize the clinical and economic efficacy of pneumococcal vaccination. Developing new vaccines capable of expanding the coverage of pneumococcus immunotypes, as well as support more sustainable immune defense in high-risk patients (children, elderly people and patients with chronic pathologies).Key words: vaccinal prevention, pneumococcal infection, advances, safety, efficacy, children. (Pediatric Pharmacology. – 2010; 7(6):22-25

This article presents the review of results of International conference on pneumococcal conjugated vaccines. Main results of international experience in the field of control of pneumococcal infection spreading are analyzed. Authors present modern data of clinical and economic effectiveness and safety of pneumococcal conjugated vaccine RCV-7, and describe experience of administration of vaccines of next generation – PCV-10 and PCV-13.Key words: children, pneumococcal infections, prophylaxis, vaccines.(Voprosy sovremennoi pediatrii — Current Pediatrics. 2009;8(1):130-134

The article gives the findings of the widest ranging research carried on in the USA to appraise the efficiency of vaccination by the study of the hospitalization frequency for pneumonia of any etiology and for dehydration after the program of immunization by the conjugated pneumococcal vaccine (for the children under 2 years old) was launched by the government. The authors made use of the experimental approach. They revealed a significant reduction of the hospitalization frequency for pneumonia (by 39%) along with the invariable indices of the studied parameter in the event of dehydration. they convincingly showed how exactly it is possible to reduce the spread of pneumococcal pneumonia among children by the vaccination. they acquired the data, which proved the findings of other studies pertaining to the positive effects of the children's vaccination by the conjugated pneumococcal vaccine.Key words: pneumonia, pneumococcal pneumonia, hospitalization, vaccination, efficiency, children
