On the completeness of quantum computation models
The notion of computability is stable (i.e. independent of the choice of an
indexing) over infinite-dimensional vector spaces provided they have a finite
"tensorial dimension". Such vector spaces with a finite tensorial dimension
permit to define an absolute notion of completeness for quantum computation
models and give a precise meaning to the Church-Turing thesis in the framework

Quantum Weakly Nondeterministic Communication Complexity
We study the weakest model of quantum nondeterminism in which a classical
proof has to be checked with probability one by a quantum protocol. We show the
first separation between classical nondeterministic communication complexity
and this model of quantum nondeterministic communication complexity for a total

Reconciliation and relationship quality in Assamese macaques (Macaca assamensis)
A consistent conclusion in reconciliation research is that animals that reconcile are likely to have strong social bonds. This has led to the hypothesis that reconciliation occurs most often between valuable social partners. We tested this hypothesis in a group of Assamese macaques (Macaca assamensis) living near a temple in Assam, India. Using focal sample and ad libitum data collection, we recorded the occurrence of reconciliation, grooming, and agonistic aiding, and the outcomes of approach. We used matrix association methods (Tau(Kr) correlation) to correlate reconciliation with grooming, aiding, and approach outcome. Females reconciled more often with females with which they had stronger grooming and aiding relationships. The correlation between reconciliation and aiding was significant for support to the aggressor and the victim. In contrast, no such correlations with reconciliation were found for males. This study provides evidence that females reconcile most often with valuable and compatible social partners. The results do not support the relationship-quality hypothesis for males, and we suggest that future studies give more consideration to the possibility that males reconcile for reasons other than to repair relationships with valuable partners. Quasiparticle RPA with finite rank approximation for Skyrme interactions
A finite rank separable approximation for the particle-hole RPA calculations
with Skyrme interactions is extended to take into account the pairing. As an
illustration of the method energies and transition probabilities for the
quadrupole and octupole excitations in some O, Ar, Sn and Pb isotopes are
calculated. The values obtained within our approach are very close to those
that were calculated within QRPA with the full Skyrme interaction. They are in

Digital Quantum Simulation with Rydberg Atoms
We discuss in detail the implementation of an open-system quantum simulator
with Rydberg states of neutral atoms held in an optical lattice. Our scheme
allows one to realize both coherent as well as dissipative dynamics of complex
spin models involving many-body interactions and constraints. The central
building block of the simulation scheme is constituted by a mesoscopic Rydberg
gate that permits the entanglement of several atoms in an efficient, robust and
quick protocol. In addition, optical pumping on ancillary atoms provides the
dissipative ingredient for engineering the coupling between the system and a
tailored environment. As an illustration, we discuss how the simulator enables
the simulation of coherent evolution of quantum spin models such as the
two-dimensional Heisenberg model and Kitaev's toric code, which involves
four-body spin interactions. We moreover show that in principle also the
simulation of lattice fermions can be achieved. As an example for controlled
dissipative dynamics, we discuss ground state cooling of frustration-free spin

Entropy and Quantum Kolmogorov Complexity: A Quantum Brudno's Theorem
In classical information theory, entropy rate and Kolmogorov complexity per
symbol are related by a theorem of Brudno. In this paper, we prove a quantum
version of this theorem, connecting the von Neumann entropy rate and two
notions of quantum Kolmogorov complexity, both based on the shortest qubit
descriptions of qubit strings that, run by a universal quantum Turing machine,

Race, ethnicity and risk of second primary contralateral breast cancer in the United States
Breast cancer survivors have a high risk of a second primary contralateral breast cancer (CBC), but there are few studies of CBC risk in racial/ethnic minority populations. We examined whether the incidence and risk factors for CBC differed by race/ethnicity in the United States. Women with a first invasive Stage I-IIB breast cancer diagnosis at ages 20-74 years between 2000 and 2015 in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) 18 registries were followed through 2016 for a diagnosis of invasive CBC ≥1 year after the first breast cancer diagnosis. We used cause-specific Cox proportional hazards models to test the association between race/ethnicity and CBC, adjusting for age, hormone receptor status, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and stage at first diagnosis, and evaluated the impact of contralateral prophylactic mastectomy, socioeconomic status, and insurance status on the association. After a median follow-up of 5.9 years, 9247 women (2.0%) were diagnosed with CBC. Relative to non-Hispanic (NH) White women, CBC risk was increased in NH Black women (hazard ratio = 1.44, 95% CI 1.35-1.54) and Hispanic women (1.11, 95% CI 1.02-1.20), with the largest differences among women diagnosed at younger ages. Adjustment for contralateral prophylactic mastectomy, socioeconomic status and health insurance did not explain the associations. Therefore, non-Hispanic Black and Hispanic women have an increased risk of CBC that is not explained by clinical or socioeconomic factors collected in SEER. Large studies of diverse breast cancer survivors with detailed data on treatment delivery and adherence are needed to inform interventions to reduce this disparity
